This was a cute book about kittens in a litter, including little Dizzy Lizzie. I liked the use of onomatopoeia. I think this would be a good talking point for kids regarding how kittens are often separated from their mothers at what we would consider a young age.

Dizzy Lizzy’ is a beautiful story about a litter of kittens and in particular one kitten called Lizzie.

This book is beautifully illustrated throughout, with pretty autumn and summer colours. I love the illustrations of the kittens, which make me think of JiJi in Studio Ghibli ‘ Kiki’s delivery service’, they have characterful faces and Lizzie in particular stands out.

I find that my daughter pays particular attention when there is repetition in the text and this story has plenty of this. ‘She bit and spit, she threw a hissy fit’ is repeated in the story. This works really well to evoke the character of Lizzie. She is a feisty and determined and works hard to find her forever home.
Based on a true story, this is a heartwarming tale which I’m sure plenty of young children with a love of animals would enjoy.

There is plenty of words in this picture book so I would say the age group would be for older toddlers and preschoolers.

Lizzie the cat has kittens in this charming story - but what’s going to happen to them all? Beautiful illustrations accompany this sweet little tale for younger children. A must-read!

Dizzy Lizzie is the story of a resolute little kitten who is anything but a pushover. Using wordplay and warm illustrations, Kat E. Erikson effortlessly weaves together themes of family, love and determination and shows young readers it isn’t the size of one’s body but the size of one’s heart that matters most.

Young child review “So silly but I am kinda sad Dizzy Lizzie doesn’t see her real mama again”

Pairs nicely with: warm milk

In 'Dizzy Lizzie' we follow the runt of the kitten litter, the smallest of the kittens and the one who had to fight for herself. I appreciate how this story highlights Dizzy Lizzie's determination and grit with the lesson of the story centring on the importance of resilience and perseverance.

Also, I love the art style and how this book is accompanied by gorgeous and vibrant illustrations. I love how the art depicts how adorable the kittens are!

I cannot wait to read this to my niece as I'm sure she'll love this. I recommend this read to those who love animals and in particular cats!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Obviously, as a cat-lover, this was a must-read for me. If you want to introduce a story or a topic to someone, introduce it through something they love.

I had such fun learning about the furry, cat family. And how about the cute names!? Kimba, Chinky, Bink? So adorable!

Our little Dizzy Lizzie was the smallest of all kittens so she had to fight her way through life from the very start. At first, Dizzy Lizzie throws a fit, but then she decides she won't give up, no matter how small she is. That doesn't matter!

I was actually more emotionally invested in this than I expected, especially after the wrecking ball incident.

This is definitely an enlightening read, more than what you expect it to be and that meets the eye. You learn about the importance of never, ever giving up and always having hope.

This is an adorably illustrated book about a mama cat and her babies. They get separated at a construction site, and each kitten gets adopted. This story was just long enough for a bedtime book. I think any child who loves cats will enjoy this gentle story about loving a pet, and saving a pets life from a shelter. Perfect for nursery school or kindergarten age children.

Teeny-tiny, weekly-wobbly Lizzie always finds a way. No room left at feeding time? Lizzie bit and spit and threw a hissy fit--to no avail. But then she finds a way. All kitten siblings adopted but her? She almost bit and spit and threw a hissy fit, but then she finds a way. This lyrical picture book about a determined and lovable kitten is hard to resist!

This was an adorable book! I loved the story on the kittens and how they didn't separate. This is really a cute, adorable book. I love the art of this book and how the two kittens did not get separated and were together even through the adoption. Dizzy Lizzie is an absolute must read with children.

I wasn't a huge fan of the book. I felt sorry for Lizzie, a tiny kitten, who was taken from her mom and watched her sisters get adopted before her. I think it was supposed to be a happy ending where she was finally adopted but I didn't feel happy about it.

I got so emotional over this book and I’m not even ashamed of it. This book had such adorable art and the story was just fabulous. It felt very realistic too, in fact, the book is just a giant lesson in the importance of perseverance and resilience. Since we’re now living in a time where the world is not just changing but changing in ways that not even the greatest minds can predict I feel that stories like this are very important for children to take in.

Lizzie is the smallest kitten in the bunch. She has to always work to get noticed or fed. She ends up being the last to be adopted too. I like the premise of the story but it seemed a little scattered. I read it to my daughter who loved it because it was about kittens and it had a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book as a mum and my daughter loved it too.

I liked the focus and that the book builds on the elements of caring for, and loving animals too.

It was a great book to explain to any younger children too about kittens and young animals having to go off to their new homes - the illustrations are wonderful and add so much to the book too

I really enjoyed that this is based on a true story too – the author did a great job bringing the story of little Lizzie to life too – 5 stars from us for this one!

Dizzy Lizzie by Kat E Erickson tells the story of an adorable young kitten who is learning how to survive in the world filled with change. When the story opens, Lizzie has trouble finding a spot to drink milk because she has so many brothers and sisters who are able beat her to a spot to eat. She discovers that if she waits until one of the others finishes eating, she will feel full and loved. Later Lizzie and her siblings are discovered by workmen and are rescued from the wild, but are taken away from their mother. This is heartbreaking for all the kittens who cry out for their mama, but they soon discover that they are now with a new person who feeds and cares for them. Later, Lizzie watches as all of her siblings get adopted into families. Lizzie is determined to also get adopted and figures out how her kittenish ways can help her be adopted along with one of her siblings. Lizzie finds herself in a new home and over time realizes that the person who adopted her treats her kindly and she soon thinks of her as mama.

This is a sweet story that children will enjoy reading. The illustrations are beautiful and all cat lovers will love the drawings of the adorable kittens. There are some concepts about change and perseverance that can be discussed while reading the story.

This one tugs at the heart! I’ve always had a soft spot for kitties and runts of the litter. Tiny Dizzie Lizzie is such a kitten, and has such a hard time contending with her eight sibs for mother’s milk. But she is persistent, and when she finally learns to suckle, BOOM! The old home under which the litter nests is destroyed by a wrecking ball. Fortunately, the kittens are saved but mama cat runs off. They’re taken to a safe place and bottle-fed by a kind woman. One by one each kitten is adopted. And miracles of miracles, Lizzie and her favorite sister Kimba are adopted together. Based on the adventures of the author’s own kitties, and a joy for children and adults alike!

A story about a family of cats who live in an abandoned house. Dizzy lizzie is the smallest of the litter and often gets left out at feeding times because of this, one day the kittens are found and taken to a vets where they are all asopted into new families, dizzy lizzie is scared of being away from her family so will do whatever it takes to stay with her sister. This is a great story about over coming out problems and learning to adapt to new situations.
Such a cute story about lost and found families, my three year old loves cats so he adored this book.
