This book begins billions of years ago when the earth was very hot. Children then learn how over time temperatures cooled and oceans were formed. From there, readers see the many changes that have taken place on the planet in a process that occurred over many, many years. They learn that some of these changes have had consequences that can hurt the climate, as for example with methane build up. The ways in which people, plants, animals and more have been impacted are matter of factly laid out. That could feel scary. However, the author ends the book with a reminder of the things that we can all do to improve the quality of our environment and world thus empowering kids.

The illustrations in this title are involving and colorful. There are some amusing captions embedded in them. They will keep the interest of the kids to whom this book is directed.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. I think that this book does a very good job in discussing a topic that kids should know about.

Climate change is one of the topics that I feel is not too early to introduce to kids.

This book introduces climate change in the most easily digestible formats.

There are gorgeous illustrations and a story like format which makes this book very appealing.

The book covers in depth the complete cycle of climate change. This would be a great addition to any child's bookshelf

What I love about this book
1) The story telling and illustrations make this otherwise dry topic stand out and make it very interesting
2) It gives some solutions on how we could actually try to counter climate change
3) The awareness that this book can create amongst young readers.

I loved the colors and illustrations/graphics of this book. I found it to be very informative and engaging. I think my 2.5 year old would definitely like it and even I learned a few things!

This beautifully illustrated book lightly covers the early history of planet earth until about the industrial revolution. From then to now it more closely details the impact that humans and their excesses around the globe have had on air, water, and the very ground beneath our feet. I discussed it with grandchildren ages 12-7 on Zoom and was told that while they'd like a copy, I was preaching to the choir!
I loved it and think some of us should buy a copy for the local libraries!
I requested and received a temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

An informative introductory book about the Climate Change. Concepts are introduced simply with beautiful, vibrant illustrations. The book goes through history and explains how humans have altered our environment. Though it gives some suggestions, I wish the final part of the book listed more actions we can take individually to improve our carbon footprint and demands we can make of companies and government to act ethically with sustainability in mind. This book would be great for grades 3-5 students.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a very useful non-fiction book about Climate Change, and I really appreciate that it goes from the very beginning up until now. The book provides some key context for the reader to understand climate change and is using the pictures as a key tool when doing this. In the final part, which focuses on the present day, it also comes up with some suggestions to what the reader can do to help the world and minimize the effect they have on climate change. My biggest wish for this book would have to spend a little more time on the different time periods, and try to make those a little more engaging, as well as making the suggestions in the final few spreads more prominent. If the reader reads it quickly they might not even realize that those tips are meant for them to utilize in their everyday lives.

Overall a decent non-fiction book for younger primary school pupils tho!

This book is a thorough overview of climate change science for elementary schoolers. Some of it was very dense and not super engaging, but will be a good addition to an elementary school science book collection.

"The Story of Climate Change," by Catherine Barr and Steve Williams, is a grade-school picture book about man-made effects on the climate and environment. It's geared toward helping younger children understand the issue and gives positive steps children and their parents can take toward helping reduce their impact on the environment.

The illustrations and colorful and engaging, and the narrative moves along at a good clip.We dispense of the 65-million-year period between the Chicxulub impactor and Victorian times in one page, with the authors letting us know that humans didn't really affect the environment on a large scale until the Industrial Revolution.

While the book is geared toward young children and the message is to provide information and steps they can take, a small mention of the impact of larger industry on the environment might have been useful, as well.

Recommended.
