This is about Mary Anning, who became known as The Mother of Paleontology! She did this by herself, from working on her families land and reading books by herself. Amazing! She finds the 1st Complete Skeleton Creature dating back to the Dinosaurs. She even finds Dinosaur Poop! So, her work is displayed at the Prestigious British Museum.

However, many scientists were so happy to meet with Mary, and used her incredible work, but didn’t ever even mention her name. It’s ok though, ‘Sometimes People won’t recognize your achievements, but don’t worry. Time will place them where they belong. Now that is one smart woman. She was right of course, b/c we get to read all about her. Thank you for the honor, Mary Anning.

Wonderful Book for children interested in science, especially young girls. A much needed Book to add to every school and library, so kids know their passions can become big achievements some day! Definitely Recommend!

Illustrations are Terrific, too and always make these books extra special.

Thank You, NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for an ARC of this tremendous book.

I can't get enough of the Little People, Big Dreams books. I think they are the perfect biographies for children because they are more of a story than just a list of facts. I recently read another picture book about Mary Anning but it had more about her adult life, so focusing on her childhood really added to the full picture of such an extraordinary lady! Kids of all ages will be drawn to the beautiful illustrations and topic that most young kids enjoy- bones, fossils, dinosaurs and of course the fun fossilized poop page! I love seeing the wide array of people that are highlighted in this series. This book did not disappoint!

Great book on Mary Anning. She was a fascinating woman and if your kids are interested in paleontology and dinosaurs, this is an informative and important part of history.

It’s no secret that I adore this series, but this is the first I’ve read in which I had no knowledge of the subject. What a fascinating story! It is sure to inspire girls (and boys) with an interest in dinosaurs to follow their dreams.

Looking for a fantastic non-fiction book that will teach you about some of the world's most incredible people? Then pick up this fantastic book (and series!)>

I didn't know about Mary Anning but man, am I glad this book taught me about her! This little girl became a leader in palaeontology! Lots of books were written about her discoveries but didn't include her name, but eventually she would be known as the Mother of Paleontology.

I highly recommend this series! It's a fun way to learn through amazing illustrations and engaging stories.

Four out of five stars.

Mary Anning is another wonderful addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. I enjoyed discovering another inspirational woman that I knew nothing about. Born in England in 1799, Mary became the first female paleontologist. Mary started out as a fossil collector at the age of just six and sold her discoveries in her fathers shop. She didn't gain recognition for her work until after her death due to being a female. With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital copy.

Another fantastic addition to the Little People, Big Dreams collection of stories.
I had not heard of Mary Anning prior to reading this book, which made this story rather special. Through this book, accompanied with wonderful illustrations, I was introduced to the life and discoveries of Mary Anning. I now want to learn more and look forward to reading this to my children.

This is a great way to encourage girls to pursue STEM education, whilst showing boys that there are incredible female pioneers in the field of science.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I love the Little People, BIG DREAMS series written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara! Today I learned about Mary Anning, before reading this book I had no idea who Mary was, and that is what makes this series so awesome.

These books should be in every house and every pre-school/kindergarten!

I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
Another biography geared for lower to mid elementary level readers. Sanchez Vegara is a master of presenting information about historical figures at a level these readers will comprehend. She offers information about Anning and uses language they will connect with. The timeline at the end of the book provides more information.
This series offers insights and also serve as a springboard for further research.

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group + Frances Lincoln Children's Books + NetGalley for an advance review copy of "Mary Anning", a new addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series.

I had never heard of Mary Anning before and learning about a female paleontologist from the 19th century makes me so excited about the people of history whose stories are coming to light. The bright illustrations, easy to follow story, and exciting topic makes this a fantastic book that I'm excited to share from the Little People, Big Dreams series.

Mary Anning is an upcoming installment in the Little People Big Dreams series and another fantastic children's biography about another influential and inspirational lady in history.
Mary Anning discovered the first full dinosaur skeleton but was used for her information on fossils and skeletons by others but never gave up on her passion and journey of discovery. This book shows children they may not always triumph or be treated fairly, but perseverance pays off in the end if you don't give up.
I especially loved the ending sentence in this book.

This entry in the Little People, Big Dreams series tells the story of a little girl who made a BIG discovery. Readers learn that Mary was the tenth of the children in her family. From an early age, she went for walks with her father. On these walks, she looked for shells but one day, Mary found something more. It was a fossil that turned out to be an Icthyosaurus skeleton! From that point, her enthusiasm for paleontology was the focus in her life.

Children will learn a good deal about how Mary educated herself and waited a long time for recognition. She did become the Mother of Paleontology and had an Ichthyosaurus named for her.

The illustrations in this title are delightful. They are a lovely accompaniment to the text.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

I first heard about Mary Anning from reading a novel called The Secret Dragon by Ed Clarke, and once again I thought, this is someone I should have known about, but I didn’t. So I am grateful for the Little People Big Dreams series for including Mary Anning, as it means more people will now who she is.

Mary Anning is known as the Mother of Paleontology, and this book shows how she made that name for herself.

From an interest in fossil hunting and bones from a young age, Mary became a fossil expert, with no real formal education. Mary was born in a time when education for girls was almost non existent, but she learnt how to read and write, and from there she taught herself everything she needed to know about rocks and bones. She was often sought after for her expert opinion, but never acknowledged by name, as she she was a woman.

The book ends with these wise words:
'Sometimes people won't recognize your achievements, but don't worry! Time will place them where they belong'

In the words of my six year old daughter “I did not like it. I loved it!”. My four year old also loves it. Thanks for giving them a child centered book all about an amazing female paleontologist.

Mary Anning (part of the Little People, Big Dreams series). Written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara (@mariaisabelsanchezvegara ) and illustrated by Popy Matigot (@popymatigot ). Published by @quartokids

As with all the Little People, Big Dreams books, this one is fantastic. I was already a big fan of Mary Anning after teaching about her for three years in Year 3. The children always loved learning about the 'curiosities' Mary would find and would be disgusted at the injustice she faced when not credited with her discoveries. However, I always found that there were a limited number of quality texts about her and we'd often use some of the videos online to learn about her story.

This book completely solves that problem!

This edition of Little People, Big Dreams tells Mary Anning's story from birth, when she got struck by lightning, to her discovery of the first Plesiosaurus. It would be a great book to spark children's interest in fossils or a wider study on the woman herself!

If you don't know much about Anning, I'd really recommend reading into her life. Her life's work is a great example of the Matilda effect, men taking credit for her discoveries and it would be a great way to spark discussion about women's equality.

I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The book is published on the 2nd March and I'll be putting some money aside from our school's science budget to buy a couple of copies!

This just goes to show... even an adult approaching their thirties can learn from children's books. I doubt I had ever heard about Mary Anning's before receiving this ARC (even learning about Ammonite in 2020, the upcoming film adaptation of the eponymous scientist's life, I had not really memorized her name), and this picture book had me reading numerous related wikipedia pages, articles on the history of paleontology, and movie reviews in a matter of seconds. A very niche installation in this series, but worthwhile nonetheless!

Another great addition to the Little People Big Dreams series! I've actually read a fictionalized tale of Mary Anning's life so it was really cool to read about her life. It was really cool for her to have this accomplishment in a time when women weren't recognized for anything other than their embroidery. I will admit to not like the art as much but I'm picky.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me an arc for an honest review!

I recently learned about Anning am so glad she was added to this series so kids can learn about such a significant historical female in the sciences! Again, the author has done a good job distilling the info down to the essentials.

**Thank you to NetGalley, author Maria Isabel Sanches Vegara, and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.**

Similar to what I stated in my review of Sanches Vegara's book Malala Yousafzai, this story of Mary Anning is inspiring and informative. The story is written in such a way to appeal to young readers. The topic of paleontology is explained in a way that young readers can understand, and they get a glimpse of the amazing ground Mary Anning was able to cover.

The illustrations are unique and fitting with the story. They bring the words to life and show readers the wonders of discovery.

I am looking forward to learning more about this series. I love that this series brings recognition to amazing women in past and recent history written in a way that is understandable and engaging for young readers! I also really enjoy the addition of the timeline and highlighted a quick biography at the end. It can help show young readers that these stories are about real individuals who have done amazing things.
