A story about family, love, friendship, adultery, and finding oneself... That is Good Company in a nutshell. I love domestic dramas, and this one was very interesting. I loved the friendship between Flora and Margot. It was an effortless friendship, which is refreshing. I know this is a big part of the story, but I was not a fan of the "acting/Hollywood". It was a good read if you enjoy domestic dramas.

Underwhelming story that didn’t really take off for me. Not interesting compared to other works - including their own.

I listened to the audiobook of Good Company by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney through Netgalley. It was read expertly by Marin Ireland and ran for 8 hours and 59 minutes. Good Company was character driven and the plot was told in alternating time lines. Part of the story was told in present time and part was told in the past. Good Company was a Read With Jenna book pick for the month of April.

Flora and Julian had a good marriage. They were envied by many for their obvious love they easily displayed for each other through their body language and small gestures. They respected each other and were best friends as well as lovers. In the beginning of their marriage, they struggled financially. They were both actors and earning good salaries was difficult but they always made things work. They had one child, a daughter named Ruby. She was their light, their everything and they spoiled her even though they tried not to. Julian ran a small theater company with a partner called Good Company. As financial security became harder and harder to obtain, Flora and Julian were left with no choice but to move to Los Angles where more opportunities awaited them. In Los Angeles, both Flora and Julian finally found success in their careers. Their careers took off and they became more secure financially. They were also reunited with their long time friend, Margot, who had become a successful soap opera star.

By this time, Flora and Julian had been happily married for over twenty years. On the morning of their daughter Ruby’s graduation from high school, Flora decided that she wanted to give Ruby a particular photograph for part of her graduation present. She would put the photo in a frame and give it to Ruby after her graduation ceremony. The photo represented a really happy time in all their lives. Unable to find the photo in all the places Flora thought she would find it in, Flora went to the garage to look for it. While rifling through a draw in the garage, Flora stumbled upon an envelope that not only held the photo but also contained Julian’s long lost wedding band that he had supposedly lost in the lake more than ten years ago. Flora was in disbelief. Julian had never lied to her or had he? Flora began to question her marriage and all she thought she knew about herself, her husband and her best friend, Margot. Would Flora’s marriage be able to survive what she was about to discover? What had really happened all those years ago and why did Julian think he had to lie to her? Would her friendship with Margot remain intact or would it suffer from the repercussions of this discovery, too?

This was the first book that I have read by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. It was about marriage, friendship, motherhood and secrets. The complicated bonds that existed between husbands and wives, friends, lovers, parents and children were explored. I enjoyed listening to Good Company and recommend it highly.

Thank you to Harper Audio for allowing me to listen to this advanced copy of Good Company in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Flora Mancini has been happily married for more than twenty years. But everything she thought she knew about herself, her marriage, and her relationship with her best friend, Margot, is upended when she stumbles upon an envelope containing her husband’s wedding ring—the one he claimed he lost one summer when their daughter, Ruby, was five.

The narrator of this audiobook is one of my favorite narrators, so I loved that part of the book. This is a character driven story about friendship, marriage, and working together collaborating. I did find this story a bit boring, but it did give a good observation of marriage and the sacrifices it takes, to stay together.

I was given an audio copy of the book by the publishers and my opinion is my own.

Interesting characters and good writing. As in The Nest, not all the characters are likeable all the time, but that adds to the book.

The author of Nest comes back with another raw and honest portrayal of how little secrets can shake lives up, all the while making you nostalgic of your own family with all of its quirks. Marin Ireland’s narration serves as the icing on the cake for sure.

This book was a bit long and drawn out at times, however I do think the character development and delve inside their marriage was enough to make up for the slowness.
I think what I liked about this book was it's realness. This felt like a very true telling of what it's like to be an adult. How through changing relationships and circumstances, we are resilient.

Good Company has a lovely cover, and the blurb sounded promising. Unfortunately, the reality didn't live up to expectations. Even with Marin Ireland narrating, this one just didn't work for me. Basically, I was bored. For whatever reason, I just could not engage with the characters or anything going on with them. I saw a movie a year or so ago that this story reminded me of. I didn't care for the movie either, so maybe it's just this kind of storyline. For whatever reason, this domestic drama just wasn't for me.

I did not enjoy this book. I found none of the characters to be realistic or likeable, and the story moved entirely too slow. It wasn't bad enough to give up on, but I can't say I'd recommend it.

I am not a reader of women's fiction but found the narrator of this book to be a likeable character and the story to be engaging.

This one was hard for me. I didn’t get interested until over halfway through the book. I’m not familiar with with theater talk so maybe that’s why. It was an interesting read. I do plan to give her another try and read The Nest.

I liked this book but I didn’t love it. I don’t know what I would do if I found out that my husband had cheated on me in the past. I feel like knowing that your best friend knew about it would be the worst! I loved the relationship between Ruby and Flora. I look forward to more books by this author.

Good Company is the story of four long time friends, Flora, Julian, Margot, & David. After almost two decades of friendship a secret could bring their happy lives and family crumbling down. On graduation day for Flora and Julian's daughter Ruby, Flora discovers Julian's wedding ring hidden in a envelope. This would be strange enough except for the fact that the ring was lost in a lake years before. What is it doing there? This is a story of friendship, betrayal, and how mistakes can come back to haunt us.

After having hated every character in The Nest I was not sure what to expect with Good Company but these characters are more likable and the book more enjoyable. I would recommend for any fan of fiction.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review this book. I listened to this book on a recent trip I took. It was enjoyable but not something I will be revisiting. This book made me feel all the emotions. If you are looking for a lighthearted read I don’t think this will be it for you. Overall, I’m glad I read it.

This book was such an easy-going read for me. This book follows many characters as their lives weave together like a patchwork quilt. So sweet and ended so well. 10/10 recommend! Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Audio for a copy of this book for an honest review.

I loved listening to Good Company. The story was filled with lots of heart, insight, and humor, and is exactly what I'd expect in a second book from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book! This book was different from what I normally read (Mystery/Suspense/Thriller), so it was a change of pace for me. I mostly listened while driving and going to bed at night since it was a nice story that I could just enjoy without having to think too much. It was a nice break about family, friendships and love and their relationships. I would read another book by this author! Thank you again to NetGalley!

Good Company primarily follows Flora Mancini, her husband Julian, their daughter Ruby - and her best friend Margot and her husband David. Flora looks for an old photograph of the 5 of them together as her daughter graduates from high school - and finds something that rocks the foundation of her marriage.

You then follow each of the characters along different timelines and paths, eventually all coming together.

Parts were hard for me to believe as overall the family sounded quite privileged with some occasional anecdotes to make it seem like things were always tight. The characters didn't seem as real to me - and being told in third person it felt like I was an awkward bystander like in Arrested Development.

Thank you to Harper Audio and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Good Company kind of reminded me of 'Cheers,' which isn't a bad thing, except I wish that more had happened.
