It is a good book for boys 8 and older. Bible heroes in this book include Daniel, Noah, David, and many others. This creatively designed devotional book is nice for daily or evening devotions. More illustrations would have been nice to increase the interest of the youth. The idea is for youth to "live an adventurous life for God" through many adventure devotions. There are also prayers included.

It is well-designed and well-written, but it would have been nice if it was organized by days for some, but it is fine the way it is done. There are also no discussion questions or elements to expand the devotion, which is often nice when working with devotions. Often youth have questions and there are not many details available in the book to expand on the heroes included in this book. While I like the idea of this Choose Adventure devotional book there are other devotional books I'd pick first.

I was really hoping this devotional would be something my son and I could incorporate into our nightly bedtime routine. He’s nearing 7 years old, and the devotions didn’t hold his interest at all. Perhaps some “epic” illustrations with each devotion would help considering these are supposed to be “Epic” devotions for brave boys. I think if my son were a lot younger I would have been able to just read them to him before bed, and he may have listened contentedly.

This book was well written. However, when reading it on kindle, its very confusing. Each person listed has a short paragraph and then jumps to the next. I expected it to be organized in days. There also is a blurb about a biblical person, then it moves to the next. There's no questions or discussion. I couldn't read this to my kids--one paragraph of one person, then another person, then another. Even when reading just one person, it was random with no discussion or question. We were all left with more questions than answers. More explanation and reference to the person (like a specific Bible story) would have been useful.

Males from Biblical times are listed from A-Z in these one page daily devotionals with a scripture, story, and prayer. Scripture index at the end.

Suitable for boys up to around age 8.

Choose Adventure: 180 Epic Devotions for Brave Boys (Barbour 2021) consists of one page vignettes of 180 men mentioned in the Bible. Organized alphabetically beginning with Aaron and ending with Zacharias, each reading identifies a Scripture reference for the person and then describes how God uses this person to accomplish His purposes. Each devotional ends with a short prayer for the boy to read based on the qualitiy explained in the person's life.

The theme of following God on the adventure is constantly emphasized in the content of the devotional readings and prayer. This is the clear strength of the book designed for young boys. The target audiences appears to be pre-teen boys, but this reviewer thinks older boys (eg. 10-12 years old) would find the reflections simplistic, even though the content is appropriate and true to Scripture. The prayers at the end are also simple, yet suitable for early readers.
