Didn't think this book would be a somewhat biased take on aging - it seemed like it would be factual and well-explained. However, when every other page has some form of 'They're out to get you!' in its wording, the credibility takes a nose-dive, and it starts to make you wonder how much you really can give credence to the words displayed before you. Sadly, one to take with caution

Many thanks to jGF Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Very well written book! Marlene has covered different aspects of aging, issues that come with it and ways to deal with it in a clear and concise way in her book, Everything you ever wanted to know about aging but were afraid to ask. Excellent read for people approaching 60s and higher. Still having a decade to go to reach that age, some of the chapters were not as relevant for me now. The links given in the book are useful for all readers. Overall a very functional and practical book for elders!

If you have not ever thought about this and are now staring at a life as a senior, the book is the perfect choice to begin. Not only will it give answers, but also put interesting questions that you may not have yet considered.

There have been a great many books written on aging in our society, well-intentioned and meaningful, every one. A great many are written from experience, personal, and we readers can benefit from the bits and pieces we pull from each one. In Jensen’s book, we are reminded about society’s view of the “senior” crowd. That society prefers to “warehouse” seniors and “forget” them. She states important facts to think about: how the medical profession can label one mentally-impaired by a three-question test; how one can be declared incompetent by guardianship programs; medical research groups who ignore the senior population. There are positive views also which include: age the way YOU want, whether others approve or not; get the love, sex, and fun YOU want; and get the credit and respect for your life experiences. I like the references to more information and links to websites dealing with issues and stories from others and aging. A quick and fun read.
