Death at the Salon is a great cozy mystery about a murder that takes place outside of Daisy Thorne's hair salon. Not only is it right outside her salon, but the murder weapon is a pair of her scissors. Looks like someone is trying to frame her. From there, the story evolves into an interesting mystery with plenty of twists and turns. The characters are well-written and the setting is great. This is my first Daisy Thorne Mystery and I look forward to reading more.

Daisy can't believe DCI Paul McGuinness has arrested her- actually put her in handcuffs- for the murder of Mel. Of course, Mel was found with a pair of Daisy's hair shears in her back and the two had argued way back in high school but really? He knows and she knows Daisy didn't do it, but who did? There's more afoot than meets the eye in the pleasant British town of Edgemead. Luckily, Daisy has good friends (including Paul) and a spirited (to put it mildly) family who help her untangle the crime to get answers. Unfortunately there's another murder before they can catch the real villain but cozy readers know that they will. I enjoyed the first book but think that this can be happily read as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun British cozy with good characters and a sufficiently complex mystery that will keep you guessing.

This is the second book in the Daisy Thorne mystery series by Louise R. Innes.
You wouldn’t think a hair dresser series would be my thing but this one really stood out to me. The community here is one where you feel welcome and at home. I totally resonated with most all of the cast especially those in Ooh La La Salon.
The mystery of who killed Mel Haverstock has enough twists and turns to keep you interested and the interactions between characters were what sold it all to me on a silver platter. I loved the dynamic between Daisy and DCI Paul McGuinness. Definitely hoping for a love match there in the future.
Just so much to love about this series I can’t get enough.
Highly recommended.
If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Great installment in this new cozy series! The mystery was fun to solve and the characters and lovable - can't wait for the next book in the series!

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes (A Daisy Thorne Mystery #2) 4 stars
A sequel to "Death at a Country Mansion" that introduced us to Daisy Thorne, salon owner and amateur sleuth extraordinaire. After a full and busy day at the salon, Daisy is tidying up and prepping for the next day. One things that annoys her is that she can't find her favorite scissors, after locking up she leaves through the back entrance and nearly trips over someone lying down near the doorway. She recognizes the person as Melanie Haverstock, an earlier customer; unfortunately she has Daisy's missing scissors in her back. Daisy is now the prime suspect in a murder investigation. She will have to figure out who has motive means and opportunity to kill Melanie Haverstock and frame her for the crime.
Daisy Thorne operates a busy salon in Edgemead; a local hub that can be sleuths best resource, she has access to multiple sources of information. She will need those sources to solve this mystery. I loved this mystery, as a reader we followed Daisy through the whole investigative process. The supporting characters contributed a great deal to the enjoyment of this book. I really liked the progression of the relationship between Daisy and DCI McGuinness , She helped him solve the murder of an opera diva in "Death at a Country Mansion" and this book shows that he values her intelligence, even when he is exasperated by her being involved at all. I am looking forward to "Death at Holly Lodge" coming in September 2021.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC>

I liked this 2nd in a series. While I knew Daisy hadn't done it, I couldn't figure out who had or why. Daisy and her friends are up to the task of finding out, however, I like the town and the residents we have been introduced to .
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved everything about 'Death at the Salon', the location, the mystery and especially the characters. Daisy's attempts to clear herself of suspicion in a murder are engaging and I loved traveling to England. I would give this more stars if I could, and I can't wait for more!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my ownl.

I enjoyed this quick paced cozy novel that takes place in a beauty salon.
This is the second in a series I’d recommend all of them. This was a fun read.

I had a little trouble getting into this book. It's characters are a bit hard to get to know. I enjoyed it especially the ending. #DeathattheSalon #NetGalley

cosy-mystery, England, friendship, framed, law-enforcement, murder, murder-investigation, small-business, small-town*****
Daisy is a winner but the DCI is a whiny wiener. Daisy owns a hair salon in a village in Surry and has some really nice employees and is also a caring friend. Unfortunately she also has found the body of the town hussy in the alley behind the shop with her very own expensive scissors in the woman's back. Despite having worked along the DCI on a recent case, the man almost seems to want to hang the murder on Daisy despite all. Seems like Daisy does more due diligence than the police and winds up in the killer's sights. I had not read the first book, but I will now!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

After a busy day at her hair salon, Daisy literally trips over the body of one of her clients at the back door of the salon. Seems Mel was stabbed with Daisy's scissors and now she is a suspect. Although no one cares for Mel, the police latch on to a 15-year high school feud between Daisy and Mel to serve as a motive. Kind of a stretch. Although I did enjoy the book and the characters are well written, it would seem the police detective isn't very effective as he accuses another person after he has to release Daisy and that person turns out to be innocent. You really have to suspend disbelief in the plot of this book..

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of DEATH AT THE SALON (Book 2 of the Daisy Thorne Mysteries) by Louise R. Innes in exchange for an honest review. Daisy Thorne is the owner of the Ooh La La beauty salon in Surrey, England. She becomes a murder suspect when her work scissors are found in the back of a murder victim. Since Daisy and the victim had a contretemps in high school, it seems like she had means, motive, and opportunity. Daisy investigates in an effort to clear her name before her status changes from suspect to accused.
I thought this book was entertaining. I haven’t read the first book, but I had no difficulty following the story or keeping the characters straight. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, small towns, and beauty salons.

This is the second book in the Daisy Thorne mystery series. Daisy has a reputation of being the master investigator after her success solving the last crime. She was upset when she couldn't find her favorite hair cutting scissors but even more distressed when she found them sticking in the back of her least favorite customer. Things heat up in the quiet English village of Edgemear when Daisy becomes the main suspect. This is a cute murder mystery that was fun to read. The characters are likable and well developed. Daisy is enjoyable and such a lady who finds a little love interest with some twists, The plot will keep you guessing as the investigation continues. Well written and entertaining. I read an arc copy via the Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review it.

Death at the Salon coming March 30th, 2021 !
Synopsis:
After hairdresser Daisy Thorne finds her missing scissors in a customer’s back, she becomes the prime suspect in a murder . . .
When Ooh La La regular Mel Haverstock left the hair salon that morning, no one expected it would be her final parting. But when Daisy closes shop Saturday night, she finds her client dead as the mullet cut. Homicide is back in style in the quiet village of Edgemead in Surrey, England. But who would want to harm a hair on poor Mel’s head?
Suspicions higher than a beehive pile on Daisy when it’s revealed that she and Mel had tangled back in high school, and DNA evidence seems to color her guilty. Handsome DCI Paul McGuinness gives the hairstylist new accessories—a lovely pair of silver handcuffs. To clear her name, Daisy must highlight the real backstabber, or she’ll end up shaving heads in the prison barbershop.
Review:
Satisfying cozy mystery with all the right ingredients - a cozy village, I was surprised, it had a Starbucks but I guess even cozy villages in the English countryside have to go with the times, an amateur sleuth, an unsuspecting victim, a quirky supporting cast, and trail of clues and red herrings and a cute detective... I liked Daisy the sleuth a lot, she is caring and kind and wants to do the right thing in some aspects she reminded me of Agatha Raisin by MC Beaton (thinking about it she is probably more reminiscent of the tv version than the book one...). I enjoyed the way the story kept me engaged while balancing the act of being interesting and intriguing enough and reliable and predictable enough to be a cozy mystery ! A wonderfully relaxing read - loved it ! The book put me back on track to enjoying the weekend ! And I’ll buy Book 1 (Death at A Country Mansion) in the series and I’ll look forward to the series continuing with Book 3 !

I wasn’t as pleased with this story as I’d hoped to be. The premise was interesting, when a hairdresser is a suspect in a murder investigation, I just had a hard time connecting with the characters.

A fun mystery set at a hair salon in the English countryside. I found it a little slow moving but it was still enjoyable.

Daisy takes center stage in a murder investigation!
Murder most foul - and at Daisy's salon no less. Who is responsible, and why? As the list of suspects grows, can the DCI clear Daisy's name, or will she take the fall for the dastardly deed? With twists and turns in the plot, this is a fun cozy read!

Daisy Thorne is back working quietly as a hairdresser at her own business, the Ooh La La Beauty Salon, after her crime-busting, murder-solving, exploits the previous year. Her life is pretty good, apart from having lost contact with DCI Paul McGuinness, which happened while she was on holiday with best friend, Floria.
When Daisy can't find her cutting scissors as she works on a most particular client she brushes it aside and uses those of her stylist instead. Although annoyed at losing them, especially as they were named, she closes up the salon at 9.00pm and heads out into the foul weather to walk home. As she leaves, Daisy finds her scissors, unfortunately they are sticking out of the back of a client she's hated since her teens.
Soon Paul is right back in her life again but not in quite the way she'd hoped! As his main suspect he and partner Buckley, have to investigate every part of her life, personal and professional. To the dismay of them all, everything seem to lead to her!
This is the second Daisy Thorne book and is just as lovely as the first. The characters are already well rounded and the crimes just complex enough to keep you guessing for quite some time. There are mentions of the case in book one but no real spoilers, there is however, a teaser for book three included. I will be waiting happily for the next instalment which seems to involve Floria's complicated family once again.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a very enjoyable, relaxing read which I can easily recommend.

Another good mystery featuring Daisy Thorne, salon owner. I love the character, Daisy, she is so lady like as she goes about solving murders. I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing. After finding a client stabbed with her scissors outside her salon after closing time Daisy funds it necessary to investigate the murder to prove herself not involved. Daisy has had a fledgling romance with the investigating officer and helped with a previous investigation. Daisy uses her keen observation skills and knowledge of the local community to help solve the mystery. I really like that Daisy and the DCI are respectful of each other, even as he has to arrest her on a murder charge and she keeps investigating even after being told not to interfere. Daisy is a likable character that I hope to read much more of.

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes is an advance reader copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Daisy Thorne helps Liz Roberts who comes into Ooh La La Hair Salon to have her hair done. As Daisy is ready to leave, she finds her missing scissors sticking out of another customer's back. Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Paul McGuinnes comes to check it out. Daisy wonders who is framing her after the police have questioned her. She vows to find out who it is. I enjoyed reading this book. I have not read any cozy mysteries that take place in a hair salon in England. With the Covid-19 I haven't been to the salon in awhile. Then my hair dresser moved out of the USA. I would love to find someone like Daisy. Thank you for a great story.
