Daisy Thorne is back working quietly as a hairdresser at her own business, the Ooh La La Beauty Salon, after her crime-busting, murder-solving, exploits the previous year. Her life is pretty good, apart from having lost contact with DCI Paul McGuinness, which happened while she was on holiday with best friend, Floria.

When Daisy can't find her cutting scissors as she works on a most particular client she brushes it aside and uses those of her stylist instead. Although annoyed at losing them, especially as they were named, she closes up the salon at 9.00pm and heads out into the foul weather to walk home. As she leaves, Daisy finds her scissors, unfortunately they are sticking out of the back of a client she's hated since her teens.

Soon Paul is right back in her life again but not in quite the way she'd hoped! As his main suspect he and partner Buckley,  have to investigate every part of her life, personal and professional. To the dismay of them all, everything seem to lead to her!

This is the second Daisy Thorne book and is just as lovely as the first. The characters are already well rounded and the crimes just complex enough to keep you guessing for quite some time. There are mentions of the case in book one but no real spoilers, there is however, a teaser for book three included. I will be waiting happily for the next instalment which seems to involve Floria's complicated family once again.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a very enjoyable, relaxing read which I can easily recommend.

Another good mystery featuring Daisy Thorne, salon owner. I love the character, Daisy, she is so lady like as she goes about solving murders. I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing. After finding a client stabbed with her scissors outside her salon after closing time Daisy funds it necessary to investigate the murder to prove herself not involved. Daisy has had a fledgling romance with the investigating officer and helped with a previous investigation. Daisy uses her keen observation skills and knowledge of the local community to help solve the mystery. I really like that Daisy and the DCI are respectful of each other, even as he has to arrest her on a murder charge and she keeps investigating even after being told not to interfere. Daisy is a likable character that I hope to read much more of.

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Paul McGuinnes comes to check it out. Daisy wonders who is framing her after the police have questioned her. She vows to find out who it is. I enjoyed reading this book. I have not read any cozy mysteries that take place in a hair salon in England. With the Covid-19 I haven't been to the salon in awhile. Then my hair dresser moved out of the USA. I would love to find someone like Daisy. Thank you for a great story.

Daisy is a class act!

Daisy is a smart lady with a gift for unraveling mysteries. After nearly tripping over a dead body at the back door to her salon, she again finds herself in the middle a murder investigation. The twist is that this time she is the main suspect.

Things I liked about the story:
1. I enjoy reading a good, clean whodunit story that keeps my interest from page one through the last page.
2. A likeable character. I appreciate that Daisy is not an “I’m smarter than the police” type character.
3. A little romance thrown into the mix.
4. A network of true friends.

This is the second book I’ve read in this series and look forward to reading more in the future as they become available. I recommend this story and series to cozy mystery fans.

This was a fun and charming mystery. Daisy owns a salon and a customer is found with scissors in the back. This was a first for me by this author. It was a great plot, fun characters and mystery to solve.

Daisy Thorne is wrapping up a long day and literally falls over a dead body as she leaves the salon. Too bad the body is a customer and Daisy’s scissors are sticking in the woman’s back, making Daisy the prime suspect.

The DCI covering the murder is Daisy’s old flame, Paul, and he’s a stickler for following the rules, even if he believes Daisy didn’t kill anyone, he has to let the evidence speak for itself. Rather than let the real murderer set her up for the crime, Daisy is going to snip off suspects one at a time until she finds who set her up to take the fall for their crime.

I really like this series. Daisy is smart, fun, and genuinely a person who cares and wants to do the right thing. If you didn’t read the first book, this one serves fine as a stand alone. If you did read the first book, you’ll devour this one just as quickly as the first and be ready for the next one.

A Hair Raising Situation....

A fun and cozy mystery taking place at a beauty salon. Loved the way the protagonist was engaged in solving the murder, and her original methods of investigating the potential suspects.
