Told from three POVs, this story will keep you turning pages to see how it all plays out. We have Lily, who is looking for Jack, her boyfriend who went missing, Ash, who has amnesia and is trying to uncover his memory and his past, and we have Maya, Ash's sister who is more than a little protective of her step-brother.
It's a quick read, one that even though you figure out the "bad guy," the story plays out in a way that keeps you guessing what will happen next, and how the three characters will try to keep one step ahead of each other. There's a bad seed among them, and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. And oh, that ending? Clever and unexpected! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this clever thriller!

Lately, I have been stuck in a reading rut and so I turned to mystery and thrillers as they always along with Bullymance able to pull me out of the reading slump. You Will Remember Me by Hannah Mary McKinnon starts with a happy couple Lily and Jack. Jack is Mr. Reliable and Responsible, so when he doesn't turn up in the morning Lily is worried sick that something has happened to him, as she contacts the police - secrets will start to pour out about not only her past but that Jack's wasn't as squeaky clean as she thought. Meanwhile "Jack" has awoken on the beach and suffering amnesia with only glimpses of memories. He ends up in Maine and turns out his real name is Ash and he disappeared two years ago. With both parents gone and only his sister living, Ash moves in with her but soon starts to realize that maybe he had a very good reason to run away and disappear two years ago as it seems that when he gets close to a woman, she ends up either disappearing or dying. When Lily turns up to reconnect with Jack/Ash, is her life now in danger as someone wants to make it clear that now that Ash is back - he is hers only and there's no room in his life for Lily, even if it means that she will be the next female to vanish. You Will Remember Me by Hannah Mary McKinnon had a very twisted ending that makes you go Woah as all is revealed and you are left with a sliver of hope that someone will come and save the day.

You Will Remember Me starts with a man waking up injured on a beach with no idea who he is or how he got there. That’s all you’re getting from me synopsis wise as I think this one is best gone into with as little info as possible.

What a book! The writing was excellent and the characters (both the likeable ones and the completely screwed up ones) were so well developed. At one point I found myself simultaneously biting my nails and wanting to Panto style shout “they’re behind you!”.

I absolutely devoured this book, putting it down was just not an option! This is my second of Hannah Mary McKinnon’s books and I cannot wait to read the rest of her backlist and will be eagerly awaiting next years release.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and Mira Books for an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

You Will Remember Me is a quick read with an interesting premise. We learn the story from 3 perspectives - a man who wakes up on the beach with no memory of who he is or how he got there and two women from his life.

I have mixed feelings on this one and not even sure how to rate or review it. On the one hand - it mostly played out how I expected and I was a little disappointed by that. On the other hand - that ending was still good. I will certainly say the end wasn’t boring!!

I think this would be a great audiobook for a long drive - maybe as you head to a vacation this summer. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.

Hannah Mary McKinnon is back with another twisted and deceptive thriller. You Will Remember Me is split between several main characters: Lily, whose boyfriend Jack goes missing one night, Maya, whose stepbrother, Asher, left home mysteriously, and a nameless man who wakes up with no memory of who he is. Is he Jack? Asher? Both?

This was a pretty classic thriller setup. When the police tell Lily there’s no record of her boyfriend existing, she begins to question everything she knows about him. Meanwhile, the mysterious man struggles to try to connect what Maya is telling him with himself. Are the memories she’s telling him really his?

I guessed pretty quickly who the villain in the plot was, but it was still interesting to see the true depth of their deception and the ending was definitely shocking. That being said, there were a few parts of the narrative I didn’t buy, like how easy it was for the man with amnesia to find his way to his hometown without any sense of who or where he was.

This is my first Hannah Mary McKinnon, although I've heard really good things. I'm not sure if it was this book in particular or her writing in general, but I just couldn't get into this... It just felt like I had read it before, and like things were entirely too predictable and coincidental to keep the story rolling along the way she wanted it to. It made it tough to connect with, and when you paired that with a cast of characters that never felt fully three-dimensional, the result just wasn't enjoyable for me.

I should probably have known better than to pick up an amnesia storyline, in hindsight. It's a plot contrivance that's been used quite a lot and there really aren't all that many novel ways to address it... But I was intrigued by other reviews and what I'd heard about the author, so thought I'd give it a go. Other readers generally seem to really respond well to this one, so this may just be a case of a bad fit for me personally, but I found it a flat read that I struggled with from about 33% on...

You Will Remember Me is a fast-paced psychological thriller sure to keep readers guessing. What would you do if you woke up in another state on a beach with no memory of how you got there? Lily Reid is waiting for her boyfriend only to discover her went missing. And Maya Scott's estranged brother just reappeared with no memory. The story is told from multiple perspectives and is filled with tons of twists. The characters are unlikable, but extremely well-written with their flaws making them more realistic. The writing is addictive making it hard for readers to put this one down. Highly recommended if you enjoy fast-paced thrillers!

Could not get into this book at all, I usually love Hannah Mary Makinnon but this one never caught my attention.

Not for me. Amnesia, happens to remember Maine might be something important to him, happens to find an unlocked trailer going to Maine, happens to remember a phone number or at least most of it, happens to connect with his step sister... way too many coincidences to be the least bit believable, added to very unlikeable characters was enough for me. Then add drama, drama, tension and oh my, it made me put it down.

The sister is obsessive about finding her step brother and it seems that is all she did for the 2 years he was missing. Unresolved anxiety on her part was not something I wanted to revisit on every page. It was all too over the top. Everyone had secrets, too. The girlfriend, with secrets of her own, was the least horrible person in the 1/3 of the book I read, but I can see where she will likely play a larger role in the chapters to come as she doesn't seem like the type to give up.

Too much of the aspects I don't care for even though after I read over other reviews by people who really enjoyed it, I wondered what the ending would be, just not enough to keep reading it.

Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lily Reid and Jack Smith are in love, and are both ready to take their affair up to the next level. When Jack disappears after a late night swim, his car, clothes, and belongings are found, and it’s assumed he drowned. Lily still clings to hope, and soon begins to investigate on her own. Jack, meanwhile, was the victim of an attack he can’t remember. In fact, he can’t remember anything – his name, his past. He only has a strong intuition that he needs to get away, and he feels compelled to travel to Maine.

Miraculously, Jack’s travels eventually lead him to being seen by people who recognize him as Asher Bennett, a man who left town two years ago. Jack, now Asher, is taken to his childhood home by his stepsister, Maya, who is overjoyed at his return. He visits a doctor, who advises him to take things slowly and to let his memories come back to him. Some, all, or none may return – every case of amnesia is different.

Lily, meanwhile, has somehow found a photo of Jack/Asher on social media and has tracked down his stepsister, and is now headed to Maine. She actually runs into Asher and Maya on the street, and confronts him about leaving her, but to her dismay, Asher doesn’t remember her or their relationship. He wants to spend time with Lily, hoping that she’ll trigger some of his memories, but Maya believes that Lily is simply a harmful intrusion. Thus begins the game between the two women, each one wanting Asher, and each one harboring secrets about their pasts.

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is tantalizingly well written, only slowly peeling back the layers of each of the three characters’ pasts. Though Lily and Asher had a deep love, they had an unspoken agreement to not speak of their previous lives, only the present. In particular, we don’t learn until late in the book just why Asher left and changed his name, choosing to live off the grid. The villain is obvious early, and though I believed I knew some of the things that really happened, I was only partially right. I have to give the author credit for writing that kept me reading non stop, only to reach an ending that was shockingly unexpected, and decidedly brutal.

OMG – my jaw is on the floor! You Will Remember Me, by Hannah Mary McKinnon is soo good. The writing is fabulous – the pages turn by themselves. The story is intense and it is told by three POV (love a multi-POV story) and the ending…well – you’ll just have to read it! I am so happy to have been a part of the @letstalkbookspromo book tour – thank you! I have never read a book by this author– and now I am a fan!

Synopsis
As I mentioned there are three POV’s – one is Jack who wakes up, beaten, on a highway with no memory of who he is and starts a trek back to his home – but it is not his current home; second is Lily, his girlfriend – frantic to find him and doesn’t know he’s left the area and has a hard time finding him because -well – she finds out she actually doesn’t really know anything about him; and third is his step-sister Maya – whose love for her step-brother is intense – to say the least.

How do they all come together? Wow – without telling you too much, the author has created a fascinating mystery that includes amnesia and the attempts to recover memories, mysteries of unexplained deaths, love stories and more. It is dark, twisty and crazy. And the ending? Well, you have to read it to now why I am pretty much speechless. Tons of intrigue here.

My take

So – it was great. I usually have so much more to say – but I can’t because I don’t want to give anything away – that’s why you need to read this? I’ll need to read more books by this author!

You Will Remember Me
By Hannah Mary McKinnon

A gut-wrenching psychological thriller.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SUMMARY
The first thing he noticed when he woke up was the bitter cold, and then he sensed the sand, the birds, and the rumble of the waves. He was at a beach, there is a gash on his head, and it was nighttime, but where exactly and why, and most importantly, who was he.

Lily Reid is frantic when her boyfriend goes missing. He is never late, always the perfect gentleman, and he promised he would bring her breakfast this morning. He is not answering his phone. She drives through their town of Brookmount, Maryland, looking for him, and finally finds his Ford truck at the beach. She sees his wallet and phone inside the truck, but Jack Smith has disappeared. She soon discovers Jack may not have been honest with her about his identity.

Maya Scott is Jack’s Smith stepsister. She is relieved when her stepbrother, who disappeared without a trace two years ago, returns home. She will help him recover his memories, especially the ones she wants him to remember.

REVIEW
YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is a fabulous amnesia thriller of a story. It’s a riveting read with tons of twists and turns. Author Hannah Mary McKinnon cleverly tells a story of a man who has lost his memory, and his overly protective stepsister is feeding him only the memories she wants him to have. But poor Jack doesn’t know the difference.

The characters are delightfully well-drawn and the story is diabolical and gut-wrenching. The writing is absorbing, and the pacing is intense and quick.

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is McKinnon’s fifth novel. Previous novels include Sister Dear (May 2020) and Her Secret Son (May 2019). Thanks to Netgalley for an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

You Will Remember Me
Hannah Mary McKinnon

Imagine waking up on the beach with a gash on your head and no memory of who you are or what happened. What unfolds next is a whirlwind, bringing to light long buried secrets from the past.

I don’t want to give too much away because I love a good psychological thriller. Reading it I had an idea where things were heading but that ending hit me right in the face. I could not read the pages fast enough. This one is the best yet from this awesome Canadian author.

Huge thank you to HarperCollins Canada and Mira for my gifted copy

You Will Remember Me is a must-read thriller of 2021! Thank you so much to @letstalkbookspromo, @_mira_books_, @harpercollins, @netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review!

Last year, I read Sister Dear, my first book by @hannahmarymckinnon, and I was blown away so her newest book was one of my most highly-anticipated reads this year and it did not disappoint! You Will Remember Me is a fast-paced, amnesia thriller told in multiple perspectives and has an ending that will make your jaw drop.

You Will Remember Me is very different from a lot of thrillers I have read for many reasons. First, for most of the book you know who the villain is and what their motivations are, but there are still so many unknowns that make you keep turning the pages to find out how it all plays out. Second, the ending is so shocking and twisted and you want to hate it, but you can’t because it’s pure genius! I’m a Hannah Mary McKinnon fan for life!

This is a thriller that I highly recommend and will continue to recommend to other readers! If you have not read a book by this author…get on it!

You Will Remember Me is such a great thriller. Hannah does a great job with character development and making all of her characters stand off the page. I actually like thrillers that has a character that has a double life. It makes you wonder what they went through in order for them to change things up. There's a particular character that I don't really like in the book. Once you read the story you'll figure out who I mean. Hannah does a great job making you like certain characters and rooting for them while making you hate other characters.
I can't wait to read more of Hannah's books!

A man on a beach in Maryland wakes up wearing only swimming trunks. He's disoriented, bleeding from a gash in his head, and has zero clue who he is or where he's from.

Lily Reid is waiting on a delicious blueberry pancake breakfast date. Instead, her life is turned upside down with the discovery of her missing boyfriend.

Maya Scott, a woman living in Maine, is overjoyed at the return of her step brother who disappeared without a trace two years prior.

"Forget the truth. Remember the lies."

You Will Remember Me is a fast paced and entertaining read. I enjoyed the fact it was told from three different characters perspectives. Reading through the reviews I have to admit I am quite proud of myself for guessing the outcome! We can all admit there's always some validation that comes with that. Ha Ha! Even figuring it out, I still very much enjoyed this book and would recommend :)

Thanks to Mira for my copy!!
