Holy Macaroni! This was such a fast paced, first rate suspense! You really have a way of making a character so dislikable! I yelled at this book so many times and I can.not.believe.the ending! Hannah Mary McKinnon, you are a rockstar!

Early in a thriller, I can usually guess—or have a decent idea—of who the antagonist is.
With Hannah Mary McKinnon’s You Will Remember Me, it seemed easy, almost too easy. Why would an author make it obvious? What the heck was McKinnon doing?

I can’t answer that or even hint at it, but I can say this. When a story starts with a man on a Maryland beach with amnesia, then you find he’s living two lives, another in Maine, you hope it’s going to be a twisted, wicked ride. This was, indeed, that kind of ride.

In You Will Remember Me, the secret lives of the characters get deeper and more complex as the story unfolds. McKinnon drips backstories into the story, thus building suspense and twisting the reader’s allegiances. The author handles multiple voices so well I had whiplash about what was going on with the story. The novel could be categorized as noir because it’s suspenseful, dark, creepy, and surprising. And, oh, that ending! Lisa Unger called it “utterly diabolical.” I totally agree.

Jack wakes up on a deserted beach in Maryland and has no idea who he is, where he is, or how he got there.

Meanwhile, Lily, his girlfriend, wonders why Jack never stopped by or hasn’t called.

Jack runs along the beach trying to find something familiar, and the only thing he sees that is familiar is a Maine license plate on a trailer. He climbs in and is taken to Maine without the owner’s knowledge.

When he arrives in Maine, memories surface, and he remembers a phone number. He dials the number, and his stepsister, Maya, recognizes his voice and finds him at a convenience store.

Jack has no idea who Maya is but trusts that she is his stepsister and goes home with her.

Maya had a crush on Jack when they were growing up and was devastated when he left home. She didn't want to lose Jack again and was so happy to find him.

Maya figures out Jack has amnesia, but doesn’t really want him to regain his memory. She hides the fact from Jack that he is a missing person.

The tension in this book is subtle, but you definitely feel it and know it is there.

What will he really remember?

If you are a fan of thrillers, biting your fingernails, solving mysteries, and page-turning suspense, YOU WILL REMEMBER ME should not be missed.

Absolutely enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced and exciting. I throughly enjoyed the entire book. It was predictable but I couldn’t put it down. It was full of twists and turns. I thought I had predicted the end and was completely thrown off by what actually happened. If you want to escape for a bit, I would say please pick up this book. Meanwhile his girlfriend Lily has discovered he is missing and is desperate to find him. In Maine our man with amnesia is reunited with his step sister who begins to help fill in the missing pieces of his memory. When Lily discovers clues that lead her to her boyfriends location, the story intensifies.

I was about 40% into the book when I knew where the book was going. The ending is one to stick around for though.

Ahhh Hannah Mary McKinnon! I should have known what I was getting myself into with this book! Haha I’ve read enough of her books to know not to expect a cookie-cutter story, or a “perfect” story (in a good way!). I’ve absolutely adored all of her books because of this. They are so unpredictable and twisted, I just love it so much!

This story had me at the get-go and I couldn’t stop reading until I found out who the man from the beach was, what happened and what had he left behind in his past?!

I was really invested in the main characters, well let’s just say some of them…I love how the characters were developed throughout the novel.

I really loved the way the story was told using different POVs as you could “see” what was going on behind the curtain of these different characters.

Incredibly wicked and gripping book! A must-read.

Deeply disturbing, unputdownable read. The reader catches on early to the dark, wrecked mind and sharp intelligence, rolled into this intoxicating story. This is an excellent read and expect this book to mess with your mind. No sweetness here.

This was a pretty wild ride and went places I didn't expect it to! There are a ton of layers to this story

Lily is devastated to wake up and realize her beloved boyfriend, Jack, seems to have got missing after his evening swim. Jack meanwhile, wakes up on the beach with no memory of anything before that moment in time. He ends up in Maine, which turns out to be his hometown and each new thing he learns about his past seems to lead to more confusion and questions. His step-sister, Maya, is there and has been searching for him for 2 years and thrilled to finally have him back in her life.

I totally thought I had this all figured out and just like that I was quickly proven wrong. There are so many twists and turns. Some characters were endearing and some where incredibly frustrating. I couldn't put this book down. Definitely going to be a popular 2021 thriller!

This thriller is an excellent study of what happens when trust goes out the window between a couple. The phrase what you don't know could possibly kill you comes to mind, but I don't want to give away any plot points. Let's just say that when a boyfriend goes missing meme is well thought out and isn't as much of a trope as you might think. You see the novel from the perspective of the boyfriend, his girlfriend, and his stepsister, all of which have something to hide about their dark pasts. Granted, they all have their justifications about keeping the truth from the others in this novel, and as the book evolves you get to see these reasons and make some judgements about them. I found the novel a fascinating character study and well worth your reading time, and made me think about whether we really ever know anyone that we love or spend time with. And you will remember the plot of this book for some time too.

A man wakes up on a beach in Maryland in the early morning hours, only wearing swimming trunks. He has a bloody gash on his head, and has no idea who he is or where he’s from.

Meanwhile, a woman named Lily is distraught after her boyfriend of 18 months, Jack, goes missing after taking a swim at the beach right before a storm rolls in. Making matters worse, after she notifies the police, she finds out that JACK SMITH might not be his real name. What was he hiding?

Maya is relieved when her stepbrother, Asher, returns to Maine after disappearing two years prior. He has amnesia and doesn’t remember her or anyone else. Slices of memory come back in bits and pieces, but will he be better off not remembering the previous events in his life?

I think it’s safe to assume you can see how these threads may connect. If not, I won’t go into any more detail.

You Will Remember Me is a suspenseful thriller that is always interesting, but fairly predictable. I mostly knew exactly where it was heading (KEYWORD: MOSTLY), but the execution of the plot was intriguing, and I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough. Filled with characters I enjoyed and characters I loved to hate (and who caused a rise in my anxiety), I just had to know what happened before the amnesia.

As for the keyword above, there is a wicked moment that I did NOT expect. Legitimately surprising, I bumped this from 3/3.5 to 4 stars. Bravo to author Hannah Mary McKinnon for going there and tying up most, if not all, possible loose ends.

This was so thrilling and enjoyable to read aloud to my husband at bedtime. Let’s just say we fell prey to staying up past our bedtime in order to read “just one more chapter” and paying the price the next day. Now, that is a sign of a good book in our opinion. But with that said . . .

Maybe I myself have a rather dark mind but from very early on I predicted the entire outcome—even to my husband’s amazement. At times my husband and I remarked about the predictability, that some of the coincidences came off as contrived, with some scenarios seeming farfetched. But, as far as clever storytelling, creepiness—borderline disturbing—factor, and entertainment value, this is a solid four-star book! And though we predicted nearly every twist and turn, we still had great fun seeing if we were right. So overall, we were not disenchanted in reading this story. I think HMM writes with intention, and, therefore, certain little nuggets are laid out for only the most perceptive to collect and gather along the way.

Also, this was definitely an alternating POV done right—I’m often turned off by some authors’ attempts at this, but not here. I’ll always be a loyal HMM reader because it’s just so fun to go on these dark, twisty rides with her. And part of the fun is seeing if we can think like she thinks, and more often than not it feels kind of like a reward, rather than a letdown, when we’re right. But that ending, though. Dang. We were really hoping for a different outcome but feared it would turn out the way it did.

Come find out what happens when Jack loses his memory and goes in search of answers. Is he placing himself further from peril or closer? Whom can he trust? Would you entrust others with YOUR memories?

You Will Remember Me is a twisted story full of lies and secrets. It's told from multiple POV which I really enjoyed. Man wakes up on Bech with no memories. He starts to search for answers but unravels a web a lies instead. Lily is looking for her missing boyfriend Jack. He went missing while swimming alone. She is desperate for answers but all she finds are lies. Meanwhile Maya has been looking for her step brother, Asher, for years with no luck. He finally comes back with no memories. Together the discover his past is full of lies and secrets. Overall, I really enjoyed You Will Remember Me. The twists were a little predicable but I liked the characters. It was an easy enjoyable read.

I was excited to be offered You Will Remember Me by Hannah Mary McKinnon. Hannah writes great books so I jumped right and literally could not put the book down until the very last page. I devoured the book in like two days! I love when a character goes missing and when the significate other is left to pick up the pieces learns that their love was not what they thought it was. And this was the case for Lily about her boyfriend Jack! Hannah Mary McKinnon's writing had me glued to my kindle. She also had my jaw on the floor for most of the book and that ending WOW!!!

WARNING! This is one of those books that you better NOT have anything else to do when you start this book because you will be reading non stop! Started this book on a Friday finished Saturday night. It was such a quick read . Lily's boyfriend Jack goes missing after a swim in the ocean one night..... but is a thriller really that simple? No ! This book started with Lily mourning the possible loss of Jack to finding out Jack is not who she thought he was at all. So many twists in the book to the absolutely stunning ending. I loved this book. A perfect thriller! Highly recommend but like I said plan on reading all night long. If I could give 10 stars I would. Don't miss out reading this book!!

I fell in love with Hannah Mary McKinnon after I read The Neighbors. It was one of the first thrillers I have ever read. I was instantly hooked. I still recommend it to everyone.

I love all of her books. She will always surprise you. This one was no exception. I couldn’t stop flipping the pages to figure out where it was going. Even when you do get to the big reveal you still have a 😱 ending. Her endings are always phenomenal and your jaw will drop.

The characters were twisty. You don’t know who to believe. The atmosphere was definitely spooky. Lots and lots of drama. I kept thinking about the ending long after I finished it. It was a perfect thriller to me.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I wanted to like this book so much more than I did and for a lot of it, I really did enjoy reading but the end was not satisfying.

You Will Remember Me had all of the ingredients for a great domestic thriller including a case of amnesia, a couple who lied about their individual pasts and just absolutely unreliable characters but it somehow fell flat. The story just ended and did not feel like the story was wrapped up or completed.

I have read and LOVED previous novels by Hannah Mary McKinnon so of course I just had to get my hands on her latest novel, You Will Remember Me, and of course I was NOT disappointed!!

This novel sucked me in from the very beginning and I flipped through the pages to see what was going on, and what was going to happen next. Lily and Jack are dating. One day Jack disappears and is missing and Lily begins the frantic search to try to find him. What happened to Jack. They seemed to be so in love and seemed like the perfect, ideal couple.

Then there is a man who wakes up on a beach in Maryland and has no memory or recollection of who he is. Why is he laying on the beach? Why can't he remember who he is - not his name, where he is from, nothing? All he knows is that he has the strong urge to return to Maine, but has no idea why that pull to return is so strong.

I loved the mystery surrounding the plot and trying to figure out what was going on. I felt so bad for Lily waking up to realize the love of her life has vanished without a trace and wondering if she would ever find Jack again. Then there is this mysterious man who woke up on the beach without any memories at all. There is nothing better than an unreliable main character and this book brings exactly that! I was cheering the whole time for this man to retrieve his memories and uncover who he was, what happened to him to make him forget everything about who he is, and uncovering the mystery about this woman name Maya Scott and seeing how hateful and obsessive she can be.

The whole book was amazing, and I loved absolutely everything about it! Way to go Hannah, I look forward to seeing what you come out with next!

Oh wow. This book had me turning pages very fast. It was my first book by this author and I don’t know why .... if you like twisty thrill rides, then I recommend this book !
