A man wakes up on a deserted beach in Maryland with no memories at all. As he tries to find out who he is, he starts to discover a past he might have left behind on purpose. Lily Reid thought she knew her boyfriend Jack, but then she finds out after he disappears that he had been lying to her from the moment they met. Maya Scott had been trying to find her stepbrother Asher since he went missing, and finding him again seems like a miracle, even without his memory. But there are secrets that no one realized, and he wanted to forget.

I feel so bad for Lily, who got hit with a double whammy of missing boyfriend and then that her boyfriend had lied to her throughout their relationship. Maya is supportive of Ash from the moment a glimmer of memory has him calling her number. As Ash, he went through an incredible amount of loss in a short period of time, and the mysterious running away of one girlfriend and death of another might have been what drove him to leave. All three have incredible amounts of pain in their pasts, and I felt bad for them all.

Things slowly shifted in time, and the pity soon turned to dread. It's masterfully done, and I was sucked so hard into the story that I lost track of time. The ending is not what I expected, and the way everything kept twisting back and forth had me on edge. It's a wonderful and dark look at love, obsession, and the way it can warp people. Definitely a fantastic read!

A psychological thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end about who truly is out for who. When a man awakes on a beach with a gash on his head, he only knows the state of Maine and a phone number. He seeks out answers, bumping into those along the way whose memories of him are negative. He feels unwelcome, but he knows he must search for the truth of who he is. Then, from Maryland, comes someone from his past, someone who he has mere inklings of memories with, but with her memories come more questions. Who is he? Why was he hiding from his past? Who will do anything to keep him there?

What a story. I caught on earlier than I would have liked, but it didn't take away at all. In fact, Hannah Mary McKinnon's writing style and storytelling abilities had me second guessing my thoughts on how it would all turn out. She took a life altering injury, an amnesia anyone else would just make a book out of by itself, and wove into it a thriller storyline that had be gasping. Full of secrets and lies, You Will Remember Me feels like a whodunit with just a bit more to flesh it out.

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is just the kind of crime fiction/suspense novel that I enjoy. the entire story has this creeping sense of dread and suspense without being too disturbing or violent for me to handle. I found that my allegiances to the characters in the book kept switching as the story developed and I was unsure of who to trust or believe. I read this in less than a day, which is always the best indicator of an enjoyable book! the end was not what I had expected (I’m terrible at guessing endings!), which was very satisfying. I don’t like sharing the premise for these types of books because I think it’s better to just dive right in! this was the first book I’ve read by @hannahmarymckinnon but now I’m excited to go read her backlist! highly recommend this one—I really liked it!

Does the lovely and gracious Hannah Mary McKinnon seem like the type to create such a dark and twisty tale?
Well she can, she has; it's here, and it's fantastic.
You Will Remember Me starts out with "the man on the beach", suffering from amnesia and no clue to his identity but the engraved watch on his wrist.
From there we are taken through the points of view of Lily and Maya, each searching for the missing man in their own right - but who is he really? And why has he been missing from each of their lives?
Each chapter unfolds with details of each character, layerings of reveals and lies - no one was out of my reach of suspicions.
This book was also my first experience as a readalong with @tandemcollectiveglobal with a gifted review copy from @harpercollinsca so I took the time to think more deeply about the unfolding plot points than I normally would while reading a thriller.
Overall, this is a very satisfying, dark tale of suspense from fellow Canadian McKinnon that shouldn't be missed. Recommended!

I first want to acknowledge that I am a huge fan of Hannah and her writing. When I first started this bookstagram account her book, The Neighbors brought my love of reading back and started the process of reviewing books. So needless to say, Hannah has a special place in my heart!

When I read The Neighbors and posted about it Hannah was always very appreciative and engaging which as a reader feels amazing to hear back from authors you love. Since then I was able to share the cover reveal for this book and now read and review it. So a huge, huge thank you to Hannah.

On to my review, I love myself a good psychological thriller and I love it when it comes from the side of a crazy woman! Even though I knew where this was going early on, it was still worth the wild ride. Hannahs writing is so engaging. I felt empathetic for Lily and hated Maya! Which is exactly what I want when I am reading a book. I want to feel something when it comes to the characters and story.

I have to say the ending was a bummer in a sense for me. I can’t say exactly why without giving anything away. But again I think that is Hannah's writing style from what I've seen, so be in store for not getting the happy ending you want. With that being said though I love her books and she will always be an auto-buy author for me.

Providing answers for anyone else is impossible when you don’t have them for yourself. When you’re lost and alone and unable to remember your own name. And when you can’t even remember who you are, how do you know who to trust?

I tend to avoid going into much detail about a book’s plot in my reviews. I like to be surprised. I don’t want to know if there’s a plot twist or a big reveal. I’ll find out for myself, thank you very much.

So, at the risk of seeming stingy, I’m not going to provide you with a summary—you can read that below. All you need to know is Hannah Mary McKinnon’s You Will Remember Me is a book worth reading. It’s an edge-of-your-seat, WHAT-IS-GOING-ON-HERE, can-we-trust-them kind of story. It’s a story that has been so well-written that it plays in your head like a movie. The suspenseful music. The seemingly benign comments. The secrets. We know. We can feel it. Something big is coming. The truth will be revealed, and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it.

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME by Hannah Mary McKinnon is a dark and twisted psychological suspense/thriller that kept me turning the pages well into the night. Having read Sister Dear I knew I was in for an exciting read, but this book managed to exceed those expectations.

A man wakes up freezing on a beach in Maryland only wearing swim trunks with no memory. The only thing he does remember is a phone number in Maine which leads him to his hometown and more questions than answers.

Lily Reid is frantic when her boyfriend, Jack goes missing. His truck is found on the beach, but there is no body.
Maya Scott has been trying to find her stepbrother, Asher who has been missing for two years. He disappeared without a trace, but he is now back with no memories. Maya is determined to keep Ash and their mutual secrets at home.

WOW! Each time I would believe I have everything figured out, Ms. McKinnon would reveal another twist that would leave me shocked and wondering where else this plot could go and how much darker it would get. The three main characters kept me constantly on my toes as their secrets were revealed which left me on an emotional pendulum. This is a page turner that does not disappoint and I will definitely be thinking about these characters for quite some time.

I highly recommend this psychological suspense/thriller and this author!

I don’t know that I have the words for this one. Except that perhaps you should trust your gut here? If you left your past behind, there must have been a good reason, regardless of whether you remember it, so next time you are trying to put the pieces together, just go with that. Just.go.with.that. But alas…

McKinnon has written one heck of a thriller that had me just sitting there with my mouth wide open and smh’ing at these fools as if I was watching a horror movie, all the wrong decisions were made but I was utterly helpless. I didn’t particularly care for any of them, so I guess I wasn’t too upset. The ending was AMAZING, and that is all I will say.

While y’all read this one I will be going back and reading McKinnon’s backlist books that I have not read. She is phenomenal and not to be missed. Thank you to NetGalley and MIRA Books for the digital copy to review.

This book is definitely a wow story. This story has characters that you like and some that you know that you cannot like. This is very emotional. I knew there was something about certain characters that were hard to like but things went from bad to worse. This has wonderful suspense and psychological twists. The amnesia seems to be the topping on the cake fir this story. I received a copy of this book from MIRA HarperCollins for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

You Will Remember Me, by Hannah Mary McKinnon, is a psychological thriller with a crazy cast of characters. The story starts with a bang! A man, named Ash, wakes up on a beach with a head wound and remembers absolutely nothing of who he is or how he got there. He has some feelings that warn him off certain places, and he begins to remember bits and pieces, but for the most part he wanders aimlessly until he is found by his estranged step-sister, Maya and taken in. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Lily is frantically looking for him and searching for clues on her own.

This story is told from Ash’s perspective, Lily’s and Maya’s and each not only furthers the story, but also adds their own unique angle and personality to the plot.

While intriguing, I did feel that the middle of the story slowed down and dragged a bit. I also found the plot to be rather predictable and the premise all too familiar. The conclusion was rather shocking, as many thriller readers have come to expect, and this one did not fail to deliver. You Will Remember Me is definitely a disturbing and twisted story, and one that was enjoyable and fairly entertaining, but ultimately, not as gripping or as sensational as I had hoped

What a thrilling ride this novel was by Hannah Mary McKinnon. It was suspenseful, full of lies and half truths, honest and dishonest characters and an ending that will leave you breathless. Once I started reading, I was engrossed in the characters and what truths would come to light throughout the novel. I loved each twist and turn, which took us deeper into the past. For me, this was the first book I had read by this author, so not being familiar with her writing style, I was taken by surprise at the ending. Wow! The action began in the first chapter of this thriller and made me want to keep reading until finished. I had difficulty putting this book down.

The story was well-written and told through the three main characters’ alternating points of view. This was my first read by McKinnon but definitely will not be my last!

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. I predicted the ending of this book from the minute I met the step-sister. I was really turned off by that storyline. I stopped at about 25% and peeked at the end. I was correct and was so glad I didn't finish it.

Jack wakes up on a beach with no clue how he got there. He also has no idea who he is or where he came from. His girlfriend, Lily, and his boss are both desperate to find him. Jack ends up making his way to Maine and encounters a woman named Maya, who claims to be his stepsister. Though he has no recollection of Maya, or anything related to his family, he puts his trust in her hands and returns home with her. From there on out, this story gets pretty twisted.

McKinnon really takes readers on a ride with this book. The action starts on page 1 and doesn’t stop. The story is told from multiple POVs, which I enjoyed because it gave me a snapshot into the heads of different characters. Things moved at a comfortable pace. I felt like the author would give just enough new info to keep the story moving, but not enough to give away what was coming. The ending left me feeling rattled. Lots of “holy shit” moments throughout the story. There’s a lot packed between the covers of this one.

Maya is a very cringeworthy character. I got bad vibes from the start with her. I felt for Lily through much of the book. And I went back and forth on how I felt about Jack. I was a bit skeptical when it came to certain things, but then he seemed like a genuinely good guy in other ways.

There are a few different tropes that pop up in this story, and it definitely has a unique plot. McKinnon did a fantastic job of generating suspense with the different events and pieces of information shared with readers. Having the multiple POVs made it all the more suspenseful for me, because I knew things that other characters didn’t, and that left me on the edge of my seat many times.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this is a good read for you.

Imagine waking up somewhere, and not knowing where or even who you are? This is how this dark and twisty thriller starts. He wakes up on a deserted beach with a serious gash on his head and wearing just his swim trucks. He does not recall anything, his identity, his life, his loved ones - all this has just gone from his memories and now he’s scrambling to uncover and find all his answers to these questions.

This one was definitely a page turner. I had a hard time stopping at our stopping points, I did so well up until a certain point. After that, I just had to know. Hannah’s writing is sooo addictive and disturbing, which I love 😉 & guys, this ending. WOW! Jaw-Droppingly good!

Pick this one up if you enjoy a very engaging, fast paced, dark & twisted, multiple POVs. Just an all around gripping read.

Hannah knows how to write a thriller! I loved this story. When I thought it was going to be predictable, it wasn't . I kept needing to know more and couldn't put it down.

I have been a huge fan of Hannah Mary McKinnon since reading The Neighbors.

You Will Remember Me is another dark, twisty, and addicting read.

There is nothing more satisfying then having a book throw you for a loop with all those twists and turns! Hannah is a master storyteller with those twists that make your head spin!!

That ending was what made this book! Such a dark and explosive ending!! Yeeeeehawww 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I don’t want to tell you too much to spoil it. So I definitely recommend picking this one up yourself.

I admit, sometimes it can be satisfying … but is it weird to say, that I always seem to look forward to finishing Hannah Mary McKinnon's books, because her final pages are always JUST TOO GOOD.⁣ No spoilers... it's just NOT your typical ending... and it is FUN.

This one propels you straight from the start when a man wakes up on the beach, with no idea who he is or what happened... but he has an intense feeling he should not go to the police. It all takes off from there and although my thriller-loving brain was able to predict some things, there are plenty of dark and twisty bits that make this an enjoyable ride chock full of secrets, obsession, mystery and suspense. And the ending… 🤯🤯🤯 The best.⁣

Hannah Mary McKinnon is the queen of twisty endings!!

Jack Smith wakes up on a beach with a horrendous head injury, not recollecting anything about his past or who he is. Amnesia is the theme in the beginning of this book but the suspense that develops about "Jack" and his past makes this a page turner.

The writing is excellent, so descriptive you can clearly visualize the beach and waves, you feel the bitter cold seeping into his bones. What a beginning to pull you in. I resented having to put the book down to make dinner.

Jack's girlfriend Lily Reid doesn't accept that her British boyfriend has drowned as he was an excellent swimmer. The police shatter some of her ideas about Jack when they tell her he was living under a false identity, his driver's license was fake as was all other forms of identification. Did he disappear on purpose and what was he running from?

This sounds like a template of girl finds boy, he suddenly remembers and they live happily ever after. Do not assume that is how things will go! The ending was absolutely not what I expected and this psychological mind bender is not predictable.

Hannah Mary McKinnon is British author born in Manchester. After reading this book (my first by McKinnon) I will seek out more of her work.

If you like creepy-good dark stories that steadily revs up your pulse, this is for you. There’s a disquiet that builds up to scream through your mind and you will love it.
