Unfortunately I found this very disappointing and only a little interesting. The moving parts of the story, the quest if you will, was fun to watch. But the reactions to Amy were weird and never sufficiently explained; her best friend doesn't know about her people being 'arrested'? She clearly lied and that's weird, all her friends turning against her is weird and doesn't feel right. And her parents being power hungry monsters didn't ring true either. For fans of amythyst this was a big change and miss.

Another excellent addition to DC's Wonder Comics! The art is lush and gorgeous! The only negative is that you have to be at least somewhat familiar with Amethyst as a character before jumping in. You do get more background information as the story progresses, but it still feels a little off.

I absolutely LOVE Amethyst and I'm so happy she is getting new life in such a lovely way. The artwork is whimsical and bright and the story is great. Can't wait to see more!

I loved this story. Amethyst was truly dynamic and I loved how connected to both worlds she was. I would love to see more of her in the future. The writing though was a bit hard to get through on the screen sometimes

Amethyst is a a mini series in the Wonder Comics line for DC. It follows Amy Winston and her adventures through Gemworld while she tries to save her people. The trade collects issues 1-6 of the single issues.

First off, there is so much purple and I am loving every second of it! Even the letters have a purple dialogue box, but instead of getting lost like you would imagine it just makes everything flow together nicely. Even the dialogue boxes add to the art. I am not very familiar with the character, having only read Amethyst in Justice League Dark when she teamed up with Frankenstein and Constantine. But I really enjoyed this book. It was super fast paced, in some parts the pacing did confuse me because I felt like we were all of a sudden somewhere else. But it didn't effect my enjoyment of the story. The gem lore was spot on. I am a huge rock nerd and nothing will ruin a book more than someone using the properties of crystals wrong. I think anyone who loved Shera or Rainbow Brite would really enjoy Amethyst. It had that same feel to it, but updated and so much fun.

Amy Reeder’s Wonder Comics Amethyst is a peppy, bubble-gum take on the DC property that hops along from beginning to end. Reeder imbues the title character with no small amount of bullish, youthful get-up-and-go, creating a hero who barrels good-naturedly into every situation and never takes no for an answer, especially not from some stuck-up grownup. The result is charming, an entertaining book that never pauses long enough for its audience to look away.

This comic seemed to start in the middle of the story of Amy, the Amethyst Princess, who lives a double life between Earth and Gemworld. Her continuous narration tries to catch you up on what's going on but it's kind of lacking. Not to mention Amy is quite the flawed and unreliable narrator. She thinks she is in the right throughout the story but in the end she admits she isn't. She even narrates "I'm just a kid" at one point which appealed to me slightly but didn't make up to her headstrong and bossy ways so far in the story. Since there was so much missing information from the start I was intrigued to keep reading but by the end I still felt like I didn't get what I needed out of it. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. The art was really good but often gave the characters strange expressions or features. The action and montages were easy to follow unlike in other graphic novels. I think some teens would really enjoy this story like those interested in Riverdale because it's flawed in a similar way.

The artwork was absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately, that was the only part of Amethyst that I actually liked. I spent most of it not really caring what happened, since the reader is just thrown into the storyline without an explanation or background. Since I had never heard of this character or world before, I was completely lost and thus uninterested. I can't care about the destruction of a world I never aw. Amethyst herself was very erratic and off-putting.

The colors and the artwork is beautiful! I found myself interested in the world and the characters. I’d definitely hand it to any tween or teen looking for fantasy, adventure, or superheroes. I admit that it did feel a bit like I was just thrown into the story at first, and I would have liked a little more background, but it was an enjoyable read.

Amy lived as a normal teenage girl up until her 13th birthday when she discovered she was a princess from another world. Now, she's 16 and about to go back to her home world to celebrate, but when she gets there her home has been destroyed and her people are missing. She must seek help from the other rulers of Gemworld, but no one wants to help her, almost.
