This was a largely predictable read. I did not find anything all that special about it and found myself scanning and skimming to finish it quickly. It wasn’t a terrible read, but wasn’t all that great either. 2.5 stars.

This book is reminiscent of the movie Shop around the corner, or You've got mail. While predictable and not a new storyline it was a cute romcom type of book that was a quick read. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweet quick read.

Enemies to lovers with a refreshing "love is blind" meets "you've got mail" storyline! Absolutely loved the characters and premise of the book. Fast paced, funny, and romantic make for the perfect combinations in this book. This was my first Lauren Layne book and it definitely won't be my last!

I loved watching the friendship and romance develop between these two characters as they continued talking to each other through the dating app and gradually falling for each other. This was a quick, easy, and overall very enjoyable read!

To Sir, with Love is really fun read. A "feel good" read, but with some depth to it, and that is one of the things I most love about Lauren Layne's romantic comedies. They're "light" books, but with content and the stories and characters are always well-written.

Everything just fits in and I loved seeing the story unfolding and seeing the characters go from who they were at the beginning to what they become in the end.

I enjoyed it immensely.

This pains me to write because Lauren Layne is my favorite author. I love her easy-to-read romance novels and how everything always comes together in the end, just like your normal romantic comedy but "To Sir With Love", I simply couldn't get on board with it. It's very similar to a retelling of "You've Got Mail" with the big bad businessman coming in and shutting down a family-run business, but instead of books, it's champagne. I love champagne like it's part of my personality but this entire book fell so flat for me.

It seemed overly corny, there was too much information given upfront versus finding it out through the characters' interactions. The novel was slow at some points and too fast at others, which lead to the story being extremely predictable and slightly annoying.

I almost didn't finish this book but just wanted to see it through; the ending was really sweet and made me cry but there are so many other Lauren Layne books that knocked it out of the park, I'd just spend your time reading those!

This author was great. Loved the witty banter and chemistry between the two main characters. Kept me turning the page well into the night.

This was just the right amount of enemy-to-lover and secret admirer. I enjoyed the bickering between Gracie and Sebastian even knowing they were unknowingly falling in love with each other over messages. While nothing "deep" happens with them, I found the story enchanting and perfect.

I really enjoyed this modern fairytale + you’ve got mail twist. The sweet, likable heroine meets the grouchy corporate hero trying to take over her wine & souvenir shop. The low-angst, slow-burn romance is charming and fun!

4.0/5 This book was just adorable.

If you’re looking for a light, quick and easy read this is the one for you. If you are looking for in depth characters and extreme turmoil and development I might recommend skipping over it (until you’re in the mood).

There were some issues I had with the logistics of certain things. How did Sir and Lady fall so deeply in love with each other when their messages seemed very surface level. How did they grow so close when they only knew a handful of useless facts about each other and only seemed to gripe about their daily issues? I’ve used dating apps and I swear if that was the extent of our conversation I would yeet myself STRAIGHT out of that chat. Maybe I feel this way because you never get to see their relationship from the beginning.

Also, you never really meet anyone from Sebastian’s life except his parents and even then they only have a clipped conversation. Same goes with Genevieve. You also never get to meet the friends that signed him up for the dating site which I would’ve loved!

Usually books are hindered by their long length, but I feel like the opposite could be said for To Sir, With Love. I would have loved to get more insight into Sebastian Alexander’s life and other supporting characters like Robyn.

I enjoyed the authors use of dialogue and I definitely thought about this book the day after which is a good sign for me.

This book really hit the nail on the head when it comes to the sense of pressure you feel in a family business. It was beautifully done, especially in regards to losing a loved one.

Would I read it again? Yes.

This is a cute, well written version of a story told in many different media, begining in 1937, in a Hungarian play, about a couple who fall in love twice, in person and through letters. In this case it is also an enemies to lovers story.

Fairy tale dreamer, Gracie Cooper, had a dream come true, when she was accepted into an art school in Italy, but before she could share her news with friends and family, her father was diagnosed with cancer and his dying wish was for the family business, Bubbles, stay in the family. So Gracie, being the middle child and the peace keeper, gave up her dream for her father's. But the business is struggling, when she is approached by Sebastian Andrews to buy out the business's rental agreement. Gracie won't hear of it. Meanwhile, she has started a correspondence on a very strange dating app., in which the identities and even pictures are withheld. How both personalities are revealed through physical encounters
and the app conversations is funny and appealing. I enjoyed the read, even though I am one of those people who does not have a love for NYC.

The right mixture of sweet and romantic - and when I’m in the mood for a rom com, there’s nothing better than enemies to lovers. I’ll definitely be reading more by Lauren Layne.

This book is so refreshing and an amazing blend of Love is Blind and You’ve Got A Mail set in New York City. It piqued my interest from the first page till the end and there was no dull moment in the book. It's a charming, endearing book with a lot of banter, romance, and wit. The characters are so amazing, I wanted the book to never end. I loved reading the online messages between Sir and Lady and the interactions between Gracie and Sebastian.

I adore books by author @laurenlaynebooks. These stories are cute, adorable, and based in (Manhattan) New York City. Looking forward to reading her next book Made in Manhattan soon.

This novel is a light, frothy, forgettable story that is fun to read. It's just a little too superficial and cheesy -- the characters are one-dimensional and I really wanted more of everything: more character development, more chemistry, a bit more story. If you like cheesy, innocent romance and cheesy characters this story is for you, if you like more depth then it's not. Also it's more like a chick lit or women fiction instead of rom-com.

5 massive huge stars

It’s been a while since a book touched my heart. And some more cynical people will say, ‘oh it’s a romance smut” and they are missing out.

My heart and eyes cried for the tale of family, about dreams and wishes, seemingly hopeless or set aside.

The romance you could see coming, but as the characters say, “it’s complicated” and it really is. The struggles of online dating make it hard to be rooted in reality, but we go on wishing for what we’re missing and hope it all comes together. I love that it does for them.

This is not smut, this is barely even steam, but you’re a fool (maybe, I don’t actually know you) if you pass this one by.

Super adorable PG adult romance that gave me serious You’ve Got Mail vibes. Love an enemies to lovers trope!

This is a cute book that started off a bit slow but finished wonderfully. I enjoyed getting to know the characters of Gracie and Sebastian, they felt real and relatable. I highly recommend this book for fans of "You've Got Mail" as it is has many modern similarities to that movie. I am grateful to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read an ARC of this fun book in exchange for a honest review.

Wow. This was definitely adorable. I wasn’t sure about it in the beginning - it seemed a little cheesy, but I pressed on and then I couldn’t stop reading it! Love the “You’ve Got Mail” vibes.
