This series was a new binge for me- I absolutely loved the first few books in this series and when I saw book 3 on here I knew I had to grab it!

I really loved both Veronica and Merritt in this series - Veronica for how fierce she was and determined and Merritt for how much he fought and adored Veronica and didn't hide it or apologize for it!

I think that is my favorite thing about this series is that these heroes aren't ashamed or afraid to share how they feel with these strong women and I can't wait to meet more of these men of the armory! I also love that we get to see the previous couples in snippets throughout!

Thank you for the early copy!

I really liked An Extraordinary Lord. It reminded me of the Historical Romances we used to get in the early 2010s in a very good way (the ones we've been getting lately are increasingly "clean"/"sweet" and have almost no tension to speak of - even the banter is lacking). It hits the spot on why I fell in love with the genre, so I really appreciate that.
It's not a perfect book: the speeches given by Merritt in the midst of soldiers are weirdly, if fittingly, reactionary and it took me a little while to really get into the book, despite the wonderful first chapter. I do wish the secrets between the characters had been revealed a bit earlier too. But the banter is top-notch, the chemistry between both protagonists is what you'd expect and the story is compelling. It's a fun book too.

An Extraordinary Lord is the third installment in Anna Harrington's Lords of the Armory, a series about ex-soldiers who join forces to stop a secret organization's plan to overthrown the monarchy.

This book features Lord Merrit Rivers, barrister by day, city watchman at night. He prowls the street, stops criminals from doing trouble. In one of the nights he stalk the street, Merritt meets a mysterious female thief taker, who matches his talent with swords and knives. Miss Veronica Chase. After finding out that Veronica is also an ex-prisoner at Newgate, Merritt reluctantly makes a deal that Veronica will be given pardon as long as she helps Merritt to look for the masterminds behind current riots that threat London.

This is definitely my favorite book of the series so far. It is all due to the SIZZLING chemistry between Merritt and Veronica. OH. MY. GOD. Veronica is no wallflower. She lives in the street, with the poor and the criminals. She has to use her talent with weapons and her wits to survive. She is a potent combination who is perfect partner for Merritt. No matter how Merritt tries to resist - him being a peer of His Majesty's realm, her being a criminal, him still having memory of dead fiancée - he is taken with Veronica.

I'm in love with their banters and their sexual atractions towards one another. Veronica's quick way to flirt back, to outmatch Merritt, results in delightful scenes that make laugh in glee. I just LOVE them together. I think Veronica is currently my favorite woman of the series too!

Merritt is a fine hero -- but he also suffers from that dead lover trope. You know, trying to revenge her death, hiding his pain, endangering himself and not telling his friends about it. Luckily, Merritt's friends are ex-soldiers and a general. They don't easily steps back when he pushes hard.

There is no BIG development regarding the secret organization, Scepter, though. Yes, these soldiers manage to stop the riots. But there are no more clues about who are the important people behind Scepter. It's starting to annoy me because it's book #3 already. Is Miss Harrington keeping ALL of the answers for book #4? Because if that's the case, I'm worried if the romance will be overshadowed by the mystery by then.

Hopefully not. Until then, I'll be awaiting for news about the next book -- which I'm sure will be about Clayton.

Let's be real: plot-wise, this is just regency Batman, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

More than that, it's Batman done WELL. Our former-criminal heroine is important to the story and has real agency - including sexual agency! - and she gets to sword-fight people. Our vigilante hero doesn't just get to rest on his laurels in his tragic backstory, and instead has to work to move PAST it, and to positively change such that he can actually move forward in life with our heroine. Even the villian is emotionally compelling, particularly in his twisted familial relationship with the heroine, and that makes for a cool, climactic ending.

Also, there's lots of swordfights. Did I mention the swordfights? They're so much fun!

Is there a lot going on in this novel? Nope. Does there need to be? Nope! I had a great time, and I genuinely rooted for our hero and heroine to work out their issues, because I could FEEL that ache between them, which makes for exactly the kind of regency romance I wanted. With, you know, bonus swordfighting.

4.5 stars - What a fantastic read! An Extraordinary Lord gave us a fierce and loyal heroine, unafraid to fight for the people and causes she holds dear. We also get a dedicated barrister who is a reluctant, newly minted baron. Together, they find common ground in fighting foes. Not long after they meet, they also realize that they have an undeniable attraction that ties them in knots. It’s a delight!

This book had so much potential but it just fell flat for me. I didn't connect with the characters and while I can see a lot of people loving them, I just couldn't become invested in them. My opinion is not a reflection on the writing which is well-paced with a good mix of action, humour and drama. This book will appeal to a lot of historical romance readers, it just wasn't for me.

I love how different the lords of armory books have been. Veronica is a strong character and her and Merritt have great chemistry. I enjoyed the theme of you doing things for family. I can’t wait to read the next book.

The third book in the Lords of the Armory series, An Extraordinary Lord follows Veronica and Merritt, a pair from very different worlds who work together to stop the violence in their city and the threats to the monarchy. Merritt, an ex-soldier and current solicitor, is one of the Lords of the Armory, and Veronica is a convicted criminal, though she is innocent of the crime for which she served time. With the promise of a pardon, Veronica begrudgingly helps Merritt figure out who is inciting violence and riots on the streets.

This is such a good story, and I love Merritt and Veronica. Their story is intense, action-packed, and riddled with sexual tension. Though they are seemingly different, they are similar in many ways. They both seem trapped between two different worlds, and they are both compelled to help others. I love that Merritt and Veronica are equally skilled in defending themselves and others. They make a good team, and they both work in different ways to rid the streets of criminal activity. They are both strong and capable characters with secrets, and they are also both slow to trust.

Veronica has had a hard life, There’s so much more to her than meets the eye, and Merritt quickly sees through her tough exterior. However, he can’t reconcile the skilled criminal with the intelligent, cultured woman he sees glimpses of. She is a puzzle, and he wants to solve it.

Life and loss have changed Merritt. His priorities have changed, and he sees his life going in a different direction than he initially planned. It’s interesting to learn more about what happened to his character and what fuels his decisions. The same is true for Veronica. I love how their pasts are slowly revealed as the story progresses, and how they help each other heal. I also love their amazing chemistry!

While fighting, working together and flirting, Veronica and Merritt have a fantastic connection. Their banter is charming and filled with innuendo, and they play off each other well. Of course, they resist their shared connection and pull back when things become too serious, as both are afraid of the depth of their feelings. This makes for some great angst and tension, as well as some swoon-worthy scenes. Their romance is steamy and fun and exciting, and their story is wonderful!

This is a great addition to the Lords of the Armory series and is filled with suspense, intrigue, and an epic romance. Though it’s the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. However, all of the books are fantastic, and I totally recommend the entire series. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Anna Harrington, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Merritt Rivers is a barrister and has dedicated his life to upholding the law, and hunting down the man who murdered his fiancee. While on one of his hunts he runs into a woman also hunting thieves, a gorgeous, smart, and deadly woman named Veronica Chas. Veronica has a secret past, she was a nobleman’s daughter, but was later forced to fight in wars and now she lives in London’s underworld with her brother, whom she confesses to his crimes in order to keep him out of prison. Now Merritt and Veronica must work together to stop the riots that have been overtaking London and causing mass destruction. But the biggest obstacle in their way is their complicated feelings for one another and the demons that haunt their pasts.

It was a sweet and interesting steamy historical romance. I really adored Veronica, she was strong, took charge, and was charming as all heck. Merritt was a great love interest for her and they both had so much chemistry. The story was an interesting one, and the added complications of their pasts were great. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to fall in love with both of these characters and their romance.

This was my first book in the Series, but it works as a stand alone.. In this book we find find a newly minted (and reluctant) Baron who is also a Barrister and a former soilder, who has a personal mission that has him haunting London at night; where he comes across a sword wielding beauty, and sparks fly. This is a true enemies to lovers tale with wonderful characters.

Thank you for allowing me to review this ARC for my honest opinion.

An Extraordinary Lord, by Anna Harrington, is a hard-to-put-down novel with a heroine and hero you can't help but root for. Third (but apparently not last) in a series, it works very well as a standalone, though there is a thread that continues throughout the series. It's my favorite by a long shot.

The novel begins with a bang; our heroine and hero meet in an alley where Veronica has a knife at a burglar's throat and Merritt is immediately intrigued. After a bit of bantering worthy of a 1930s-era screwball comedy and a subsequent sword fight, he's enthralled. And finally, after learning her name, he's crushed. Veronica is the thief he'd been looking for.

From there, they enter into an uneasy partnership: In exchange for a pardon, Veronica will help Merritt (and the Lords of the Armory) figure out who's been starting a series of riots in the city. What follows is a fast-paced novel that manages to be both exciting and emotionally charged.

Veronica is my favorite kind of heroine: She is both smart and strong, but she also displays a touching vulnerability. She's a mystery that Merritt wants to solve. Merritt is less of a mystery, though his career as a barrister (and only a peer by chance) does set him somewhat apart from most heroes, who are typically either true Lords or filthy-rich-but-born-into-poverty owners of the most exclusive gaming hall in town.

My main gripe about this book is that it should have been called An Extraordinary Woman. Merritt is a great hero and yes, is somewhat atypical in that he's more barrister than baron. And I suppose the title is in keeping with the series title (Lords of the Armory), but it's Veronica who steals the show. The fact that she is so very different from the typical heroine is the main reason that I loved this book so much.

There are a few places where the story goes in a different direction than I would have preferred, and I wish we learned more about Veronica's past. Also, the few interactions that Veronica has with her adopted brother Felipe are unsatisfying; I felt that he treated her abominably after all she did for him. In later interactions, I felt like someone should have smacked him upside the head and reminded him that she spent six months in Newgate (Newgate!) for his sorry ass. Overall, though, this was a really good book for anyone who likes historical romance that is exciting even as it grabs the heart.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

An Extraordinary Lord is the third book in the Lords of the Armory series, that follows men who are former soldiers returned from the war against Napoleon and trying to move back into society. This tells the story of Merritt, a barrister and recently appointed Baron. and her brother-in-law by marriage, Sullivan. While prowling around the slums of London to offer help in case of rioting, he stumbled across Veronica, a female thief-taker. When he realizes she is the escaped convict he has been looking for (and mistakenly recorded in the jail as a man), he offers her a pardon in exchange for help figuring out who is stirring up mobs and causing the riots. This means they will be working closely together, and will Merritt be able to trust Veronica and realize all may not be as it seems with her background?

I would rate this 4 stars overall. This book was the best of the series so far, and continues the main conflict of fighting the evil organization out to take over the country. I think the relationship developed at a reasonable pace, and I loved the banter between the two main characters. I also really liked that Merritt was very much ok with Veronica being a strong, capable woman, even if there were times he was fearful and clearly wanted to protect her. I also liked that there was minimal discussion of Veronica not being a virgin, and it was a clear non-issue. I realize in historical novels that is a major plot point sometimes because for accuracy it would have been a big deal, but the way the author handled it really fit the relationship these two developed.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An enjoyable read about two people from different worlds, who have to work together to stop an evil organization from destroying the monarchy. Veronica has a past, one she keeps closely hidden. She knows how to fight and is a thief. She is determined to help those in need and even confessed to a crime she did not commit. Merritt served in the war after a tragedy affected his greatly. Barrister by day and hunter by night, he juggles the two worlds until they collide. Merritt offers Veronica a deal, to one she has no choice but to accept. They both have to work together is each other’s worlds while trying to stop the organization wanting to take down the regency. The attraction and desire builds between them, but they cannot be together. But past and present collide and each will have to decide if their last veg is worth fighting for. I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Third in the author's Lords of the Armory series, Anna Harrington delivers another tale of romance, mystery, and non-stop action. I personally preferred the first two installments but still enjoyed this story of romantic intrigue. Merritt and Veronica have interesting back-stories and their adventure is worth the journey..

This novella is the third in the serie " lords of the armory". I think it should be read in order because the lors of the armory are fighting against the organisation "sceptre". I d'on't know if the author chose the name in reference to James Bond, but I can't stop thinking of it. ().
In this book, we will follow Merrit River, a barrister in day and protector in nightt. We already met him in the previous book, because he's the best friend of Pearce (the previous hero) . He encoutered Veronica, a beautiful thief-taker with which he had to work in order to fight Sceptre. We find the same ingredients as the previous book, mystery, danger, romance, attraction, speed and the same characters. But if I fell fo the story of Pierce I had more difficulties to adhere to the story of Merritt and Veronica, because their story goes fast, too fast for me.

Merritt Rivers wears many hats: solicitor, soldier, and newly minted Baron. He is helping the War Office investigate riots when he encounters a female thief-taker in the night. Veronica Chase has a hidden past, living in the shadows of London's underworld. She trades her skills for a pardon, teaming up with Merritt to find the dangerous leaders behind the city attacks.

This is the third book in the Lords of the Armory series. It is named for the training facility/social club that the first hero establishes for former military men. This book can mostly stand alone, but there is an overarching intrigue throughout the series. The individual pieces are resolved at the end of each book, but the larger investigation continues.

I really enjoyed this book! Merritt is still trying to recover from the trauma of losing his fiancée in a riot...it causes him to enlist, to train as a fighter, and to seek vengeance. Veronica is scrappy and loyal, desperately trying to make a home when she feels like she belongs nowhere. This book had many elements that kept me invested through the whole story: action, humor, intrigue, and sizzling chemistry between the main characters!

Tropes: Spy/Govt Work, Revenge, Class Difference

Ex-soldier and solicitor, Merritt is obsessed with finding the person who killed his fiancé during a riot. At night he dresses in black and hunts for the man in the worst parts of London while also righting any wrongs. This is where he finds Veronica, a woman who knows how to fight and who is living in the underworld of London. Together they work to stop the riots and to find the man who killed Merritt’s fiancé. Though they are from different worlds, they find that love truly can conquer all. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my honest review.

Soldier turned solicitor Lord Merritt Rivers has dedicated his life to upholding the law. Veronica Chase has hidden her past as a nobleman's daughter. She confesses to a crime to keep her adopted brother out of prison. She now lives in London's underworld, trapped between worlds, belonging nowhere. Forming an uneasy alliance, Veronica and Merritt work together to protect innocent Londoners during the city's riots. But their newfound trust won't be enough, until each face their demons and ask what's worth saving—the lives they've chosen to lead or the love that leaves them yearning for more.

An action-packed, fun, romantic book. The characters are wonderfully drawn and the plot is exciting. A terrific way to spend a few hours. Thanks to the publisher for providing this ARC.
