This book is just as wild - if not maybe moreso?? - than the first in the terrifying drop bears series, and I loved it! I went in without knowing much about the plot, and was happy to find that this is a direct continuation of the first SOLE SURVIVOR book in the Rewind or Die, which I loved. Sometimes sequels go too far off in trying to set themselves apart, when really, I'm just there for more of the same gory, horrifying koala-like things that rip people apart -- and SOLE SURVIVOR 2 delivers that & more.

Super fun, super bloody, and super glad to have another story with these creatures - I hadn't heard of them before reading the first one and they're creepy enough to stick with me, lol.

I had enjoyed the first sole survivor, and enjoyed that this sequel worked perfectly as a sequel. The story was really well done and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. Rewind or die is a really well done horror series.

I liked the first book, it was a lot of fun but this one didn't really hold my attention. I'm not really sure why. It was still decent, but I didn't really care that much about the characters.

Bloody, fun horror novella

I received this novella as an Advanced Reading Copy from Net Galley. Because it is part two of a Survivor-type horror tale, I ordered the first part SOLE SURVIVOR from Amazon and started reading it. I thought there were some missing parts of the story but it took me a while to figure out I was reading part two with an incorrect cover and description.

Part two is an okay horror tale with killer koala bears in Australia. Bloody, gory - and this would be a fun Grade B horror movie (assuming part one is also okay).

I received this novella from Unnerving Books through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

C'mon admit it...even if you won't I will...

I always wished that the old TV series Tales from the Crypt had...well, a bit more bite to them. Snark, sex, gore...the list goes on. And yes, some of those Crypt tales were fairly ground breaking at the time.

But guess what- lucky for me, and you if you dig those sorts of things, Unnerving has published a series of books called Rewind or Die that is all of those things and more and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm currently working my way though all of them.

I was given an eARC of this one and I didn't think it was possible but, yes, this sequel better than the original.

It's just as fast paced, over the top in best ways and gory...and oh let's not forget a few snarky moments. It's the perfect length and despite being only about 83 pages it's well developed and basically continues where the 1st book left off (it's a must read before you enjoy this one).

December is back as the main character, and I continued to root for her all the way.

And as with any good horror franchise, the door is left open for more!

If you thought the first Sole Survivor was a wild ride, hang on for this one. New twists and bigger stakes in this wonderfully Aussie-as gore fest. You'll never see Brisbane, or koalas, the same way again.

Mediocre story and terrible characters that were not fleshed out at all. Hopefully I can wake up after reading this borefest

Now, you don’t need to read the first book in order to read this one. It works on its own. HOWEVER – if the pandemic has you missing your annual new season of Survivor (and Jeff Probst’s dimple), grab the first book – you’ll definitely enjoy it.

If anything, though, this second book is even better than the first. This book is nutso. The author doesn’t hold back. It’s violent, gory, and darkly funny. In fact, every time you think it can’t get any crazier…it definitely does!

Although the author does regale us with the many, many innovative ways a human can die, he also brings us some extremely fun characters. You have those you love and those you love to hate and, yes…you’ll be anxious for some people to just get chomped!

A hugely entertaining read!

“The mutant koalas seen on the recently-aired Sole Survivor show weren’t naturally occurring like the show insisted, they’d been mutated; Frankensteined into existence.”*

The final girl from the first installment of Sole Survivor becomes the target of an animal rights activism group who blame her for harming the killer koala-like drop bears that slaughtered all the other contestants on the Sole Survivor reality show.

The book definitely delivers the promise of its tag line, “Bigger, badder, hungrier drop bears on the loose.” There so much zaniness that the book borders on bonkers, which makes it a really fun read. The final girl has a nice character arc, starting with survivor guilt and feeling as though her friend deserved to survive the first installment and not her, adding heart to this second installment.

Sole Survivor II is a focused attack on that final girl. The first installment was more like a bloody audition for this outing. While the second installment can be considered a stand alone, for the best reading experience, I advise reading the books in order. And bonus, that will deliver a double dose of drop bear goodness.

The Rewind or Die books are a blood-splattered oasis in these turbulent times. I am a huge fan of the series, which invokes the spirit of horror movies watched on videotape.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and Unnerving for providing an Advance Reader Copy.
