This is book two in the Tori Hunter series and every bit as good a read as the previous one. Good plotting, well written and excellent character development provide another interesting thriller from Roger Stelljes. I love the Minnesota setting and the descriptive passages, as well as the little subtitles at the start of each chapter. This is an exciting read which held my attention to the last page. I would recommend this to thriller lovers. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I do have to admit to not reading the first book in this series, but there is enough information given that I didn’t feel left out in the cold with this one. I do like a good book cover, and the title piqued my interest even more. I wasn’t disappointed.
After the conclusion in the first book, Tori Hunter has taken time out from being an FBI agent and is now teaching, but when she and her boyfriend Detective Will Braddock have been out for the evening, he receives a call to attend a crime. A seventeen-year-old girl had been abducted from her home, so Braddock deputises Hunter to help out.
I straight away took to this pairing of minds of Hunter and Braddock. I liked that there was a balance of both the working relationship and the off duty time between them. The story is fast-paced and not a random event when a second young woman is taken. I enjoyed that this didn’t go the way I thought it would. A fabulous storyline and brilliant series to watch out for in the future.
I wish to thank Net Galley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly.

This second book in the Tori Hunter series is a gripping, action packed read. The case Tori and Will face is complex and full of suspense. Just when I thought I had it figured out there was another twist. I like the way Tori is developing and how her relationships are growing as well. I love her and Braddock together. Both personally and professionally. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Starts with a bang and doesn't let up. A great storyline full of tension and action set during a Minnesota snow storm will keep you turning pages.
I really like Mr. Stelljes writing style and can't wait to see what's next for Tori and Will.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

The Winter Girls is the second book in a series featuring FBI Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock. In this entry Tori has retired from the FBI and is now a college professor. Her relationship with Braddock is going great. She likes her life now. However, it doesn't take long for Tori to get sucked back in to a new investigation. A teenage girl, Savannah Devenish, has been abducted from her family's lake house and her mom shot dead. Braddock is assigned to the case and since Tori is an expert in missing kids they jump in head first. .They suspect sex trafficking. This case ends up having ties to other countries and events from years ago. It could also cost them their lives!
This was a very fast paced thriller and easy to read. I love the character of Tori, she is such a badass! This book progressed her and Braddock's relationship in a satisfactory way. I hope there will be many more entries in this series! Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

First of I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture, the author Roger Stelljes , and to NetGalley for inviting me to join the blog tour for this book as well as letting me read and review it.This is my first time reading anything by this author and even though I'm reading this series out of order I had no trouble following along with who the characters was at all, in fact reading this has made me want to read the first book as soon as I can. What I loved about this was the plot , the characters and how it kept me waiting to just set on my bed and read it non stop, and when that happens it means I'm 100% loving the story and can't wait to see what happens next. And the twist that was throwing in they also kept me guessing and wanting to know who was telling the truth and who wasn't , what more could I want in a book.

After reading the first book of the Agent Tori Hunter series and was impressed by the book that I couldn't wait to read the second book of the series. And finally I did!!!

The story begins with seventeen-year old Savannah Devenish being kidnapped from the cabin and witnessing her own mother being shot to death. Agent Tori Hunter, who no longer works in the FBI but is a professor at the University and is working with Braddock who is also her lover. Together, they discover a sex trafficking that is happening around Minnesota.

I must say, just like the first book, this book was so intense!!!! It was as if I was going on a roller coaster ride with both Hunter and Braddock and felt like in a part of the game. The writing was good, lots of unexpected twists and turns and quiet a fast paced thriller! I felt like I was in a cat and mouse chase game with Hunter and Braddock as they try to track down Savannah's abductor. Not only, I felt as if I am in some kind of action packed thriller, waiting to know what is going to happen next!!!

Truly enjoyed reading the second book and this book is unputdownable, that will make you go on a roller coaster ride, fast paced thriller with twists and turns. Worth five stars!!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me ARC. The review is based on my most honest opinion.

The Winter Girls is the second book in the Tori Hunter series. All I can say is Wow, this was a roller coaster of a story that I couldn’t put down till I finished it,I read it in one day. It had everything murder, kidnapping, car and helicopter chases that kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next in the series. I want to thank Netgalley for my arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of The Winter Girls, the second novel to feature former FBI Special Agent Tori Hunter.

Tori has returned home to Manchester Bay, Minnesota, teach part time at the local university and enjoying her burgeoning relationship with Chief of Detectives Will Braddock but when 17 year old Savannah Devenish is snatched from her family’s remote cabin she is immediately deputised to help with the investigation. When another teenager is taken Tori begins to think there is something dark behind the abductions.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Winter Girls which is an exciting read with a well constructed plot and non stop interesting events. It held my attention throughout. The novel is told from various points of view, notably Tori and her investigation, but rather than being distracting each character has something to add to the narrative. The reader is introduced early to the bad guys, something I usually groan at, but again it works well because their reasons are well concealed behind both not being mentioned and several deflection events. This is gradually teased out over the course of the novel and is intriguing, driving the reader to keep going. It should be noted that the novel opens with violence and the denouement is is like an 80s action movie with more violence and cruelty in between but it’s not gratuitous and is leavened by the warm relationship between Braddock and Tori.

I think the novel is well constructed with a steady stream of reveals to keep the interest level high and the speculation continuous. I thought the motive behind it all unusual and, to a certain extent, surprising, given the situations that suggest something else. Perhaps I got so involved I left my critical faculties at the door.

The Winter Girls is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

This is book 2 in the Tori Hunter series. I really enjoyed the first one and this one as well. The story of Tori and Will continues of course, but with a new case in involving murder and kidnapping. This one is set in the winter with a blizzard included. Lots of suspects, motives, car chases and thugs. Check this one out, you'll like it.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

A rollercoaster careening through a dark and twisted story at full speed. I could not wait for this next instalment and I was not disappointed. This book had some plot involving the most depraved acts a human can commit. Trafficking another human. This is one of those books you stay up way way to late to read. A book with characters that you love and a story that just won’t quit. This book has it all, including a plot twist that will blow you away.
This is a must read!

Coincidence Usually Takes A Lot Of Planning

After the events in the first book, Tori Hunter resigned from the FBI and went to therapy in order to do some profound soul-searching. She moved back to Manchester Bay to be near her boyfriend Braddock, the lead detective of Shepherd County. She’s unsure what to do with her life and is teaching a few classes at the local uni, something that seems to agree with her.

Braddock is called to a crime scene at a lake house where the mother is shot in the hallway and the17-year-old daughter, Savannah has been abducted. As Tori is in the car and it looks like a complicated matter, sheriff Cal Lund deputises her on the spot. The father arrives half an hour after the police and is the first suspect. It is soon obvious that this is not a crime of opportunity but of purpose and that a lot of planning went into it. There are several possibilities as to why Savannah may have been targeted; another girl of her dance team disappeared 3 months earlier and this could be connected, her dad has made enemies in the past, the family is very well of but no ransom is asked, it could be an abduction by a sex syndicate.

The reader knows that she’s being held in a brothel where girls are kept prisoner but she’s not put to work. We also learn that her captors are following another girl that they have to snatch as well. But we’re left in the dark as to who the shot caller is and why he wants those 2 (or will there be more?) girls.

This was super super suspenseful. The story was well constructed and fits together seamlessly. It may be a bit far-fetched but for the sake of the story, you must go along with that. It is an original and fresh plot. The finale is absolutely breathtaking. It has everything to make a good movie as well; a strong and intelligent storyline, awesome landscapes, an interesting cast of good and evil characters and a good balance between hard action and a clever investigation

Unfortunately, I found out the reason for the abductions early on in the story. As soon as a certain fact was mentioned as a byline, I knew that it would be connected to the kidnapping. The detectives think about that possibility only halfway through. It didn’t interfere with my enjoyment of the story though. There are plenty of elements that are unknown at that time. You still don’t know who’s behind the scheme or if the girls will be able to escape or be found in time.

I love Braddock for his superior moral code. It’s something that has become a rarity in modern society. Call me old- fashioned but what’s wrong with fidelity or loyalty to your partner?

A nice touch is the clever subtitles above each chapter. They’re nearly always a quote taken directly from the text, something relevant for that part of the narrative.

I could relate very well to the weather conditions in February Minnesota, as we’re going through an unusually cold winter week with temperatures reaching -12C and streets full of snow and ice. Laugh all you want, Scandinavians, Canadians and other cold experts but we didn’t have proper snow for at least 3 years! That used to be different before global warming!

It says that Minnesota has more than 10 000 lakes and I googled some fantastic foto’s. It must be very desolate and isolated in winter. But it is absolutely beautiful if you can take the freezing temperatures, that is.

I thank Netgalley and for the free ARC they provided and this is my honest and unbiased review of it.

Tori thinks she can just teach at the university, but she gets drawn into a case of two young women vanishing. One was kidnapped, but no one knows what happened to the other one. Family secrets are revealed, dangerous men are exposed, and I wonder if this small town can ever be the same after this case.

I really like Tori as well has her relationship with her local policeman. Her own bitter history in this town is still haunting her, but much less now that she has finally found out the truth what happened. Her interest in child abductions has given her quite a name, and no question about is; she is good.

The case itself is gritty, and shows the lowest of the low of humans. There is so much evil in this world, and in the illegal fields of human trafficking there are no second chances, no compassion, and quite often it seems no hope either. An apt description of what could sadly happen pretty much anywhere and anytime., even though we don’t want to believe it.

This is part 2 with (ex) Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock as the main characters.
I did not read part one (yet) but that was not a problem. It can easily be read as a standalone. The author gave a bit of info in this book about the previous one. It’s nice for people who read it a while ago and needed to be brought up to date again, but it also makes people like me anxious to devour that one as soon as possible too. Win win situation if you ask me. 😊
I like this kind of books. They are action packed and a bit over the top sometimes. Stories with some amount of James Bond like scenes are straight up my alley.
I have to say it has been a long time since a man made me cry. Well, Mr Stelljes achieved it. Normally this is not a genre that would evoke this kind of emotions, but somehow this one did. Only two little words (the brotherhood) turned on the waterworks. I guess I was as relieved as the characters were. 😊
A great book in my opinion with a lot of action and a bit of romance. 5 stars

Thank you, Roger Stelljes and Bookouture

Murder, kidnapping, sex trafficking ring, car chases, shoot outs, … don’t forget to take a breath! What a team ex FBI Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Baraddock make, I didn’t read the first book but I will, and can’t wait for book 3

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for letting me take this amazing ride for my honest opinion.

Thank you #Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc. I did not read the first book in this series, but this book worked as a standalone!. The story was great, why were these girls taken? The story was interesting, but when it came to explaining the backstory, I thought it felt clunky. Maybe this was the time for a prologue or dual timelines, even those are over-used these days.
I was not invested in any of the characters, so that made for more difficult reading.
Maybe if I had read the first book I would have enjoyed this book more. It was good, but not great for me.

This thriller had me hooked from the very beginning. These stories are the kind that grab you by the throat and don’t let you go till the very end. I tried to see if I’d figure out who did what, but this was a tough case.

The secrets that people keep always turn out to hurt those that are dear to them. In this case, seventeen-year-old Savannah Devenish is abducted from her cabin right after she sees her mother killed in front of her. When two more girls are abducted, FBI Agent Tori Hunter and her partner, Braddock are called in to investigate. The only clue to their disappearance is that they all have the same characteristics.

This is an edge of your seat thriller! I found myself yelling “run, run!” and breathing so fast, I thought I was going to pass out! This is a stand-alone, but I recommend all of Mr. Stelljes books! Read on! #NetGalley thank you for the AC!

I was eagerly anticipating the second book in the Tori Hunter series since the first one, The Silenced Girls, was so fantastic and had me wondering what would happen now that she was living full time in Manchester Bay. I have to say this one was just as good as the first! I might even say I liked it a smidge better! Loved all the action this one brought for sure!

When 17 year old Savannah is kidnapped, Agent Hunter and her paramour Detective Will Braddock are given the task of solving the case. And after a second girl is kidnapped, this case is not at all what they expected it to be. Lots of twist and turns, loads of action and suspense, this was one I couldn't put down! Bravo Roger Stelljes!!
