Another gripping read from the Agent Tori Hunter series - I couldn’t put this book down!

Extremely enjoyable with a fast-moving storyline and well developed characters.

The second book in a series always has me worried, especially when I enjoyed the first one so much. Will it live up to expectations? No worries with this one, it’s fantastic
Tori Hunter is no longer an agent, she’s followed her heart back to Manchester Bay to hook up with Detective Will Braddock
But when a 17 year old girl, Savannah, is kidnapped and her mother callously killed in front of her Tori is quickly deputised to help with the investigation.
But this girls not the first, and there is indications that they may have been taken to force them into the sex trade.
Savannah finds herself the victim of the weirdest kidnap. Well looked after, a nice room, well treated, but isolated.
A good name for this book would have been two way traffic

Hang on to your seat as this emotional, emotive and adrenaline fueled thrill ride will keep you riveted and reading till the early hours.

When Savannah Devenish, a 17 year old goes missing and her mother murdered, Tori Hunter once again becomes part of the investigation team along side chief Detective Will Braddock from the Shepard County Sheriffs Department.

As the hunt for the missing teenager gets underway Tori vows to find her and bring her home as the memory of losing her own twin years before still haunts her.

But a race against time begins as another teenager, one who looks very similar to Savannah, is snatched.
Can Tori and the team find them before more lives are lost or they disappear for good.

What a fabulous read- loaded with suspense, thrills and spills galore and a wealth of gripping characters, some good and some downright evil.

LOVED IT and would highly recommend- a definite 5 star read for me. Can't wait to meet Tori and Will again in the future.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.

Thank you to #netgallery and #bookouture for an advanced copy of this book for a honest review. The second installment in the Tori Hunter series, and Mr. Stelljes doesn’t disappoint. This book is just as good as the first book in the series, Silenced Girls. This time a 17-year-old girl is abducted from her parent’s cabin in the dead of winter. Luckily for the abducted girl, it happens in Will Braddock’s county. He quickly brings in his girlfriend and former FBI agent, Tori Hunter, who has been teaching at the local college in town. It is up to Will and Tori to find this girl before she is lost forever.

Mr. Stelljes knows how to tell a story. Every time I finish the chapter, I just wanted to read a little bit longer no matter how late at night it was. If you love action, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. There is also plenty of drama to keep you enthralled as Tori tries to find the missing girl. Mr. Stelljes does an excellent job keeping you engaged in the hunt for the missing teenager. The premise behind the kidnappers is intriguing and very plausible. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this book. I can’t wait to see where Mr. Stelljes leads Tori next in his third installment of the series.

If you love a story with lots of drama and suspense, this is a book for you. I also believe the northern Minnesota setting, especially during a blizzard is about as good a setting as you can get for a story set in Minnesota. Hopefully when it is released in April, we are dealing with any late season snow storms. Overall this is an excellent thriller that is worth your time.

Author Roger Stelljes has a real nail-biter of a read here! There are kidnappings, sex trafficking, cars being blown up and dead bodies. The plot for this book is very exciting and well-developed. It was great figuring out what was going on and why Savannah Devenish was kidnapped along with former FBI Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock. I look forward to more exciting thrillers by this author in the future

Tori Hunter has become my new favorite badass investigator! After reading River Stelljes’s Mac Ryan series, I was looking forward to more by this author. This go round Tori and team are investigating the disappearance of a teenager whose mother has been murdered. A search for one teen turns into a search for more and Tori is knee deep in murder and mayhem in the midst of a massive snowstorm.

I read it in one night. Highly recommend!

The Winter Girls – Roger Stelljes

Special Agent Tori Hunter returns in her second adventure, and - trust me - you do not want to miss it! Tori has resigned her position with the FBI, returned to Manchester Bay, and has taken on a professorship at the Minnesota State University, as she and Detective Will Braddock build upon their burgeoning relationship, and Tori works to resolve her issues w/ her past in therapy. She is also consulting for the Minnesota BCI, most recently on a missing person’s case; a young woman who was last seen leaving a party several months ago.

Savannah Devenish and her mother have just arrived at their family lake cabin deep in the Minnesota woods, for a family weekend gathering. With her father expected later that evening, Savannah’s Mom heads out for groceries, leaving Savannah creating videos with her smartphone. As Savannah works on a self-video clip, she sees the reflection of a man standing behind her and is promptly assaulted and immobilized.

As Tori wraps up her class for the afternoon, she and Braddock decide on a new restaurant for dinner. As they head to Crosslake, they hear the call for assistance in the area. Being nearby, Braddock responds, and immediately heads to the scene. Upon their arrival at the home, it’s readily apparent that a crime has occurred, and they quickly ascertain that a teenaged girl is missing from the scene, with evidence of a fight indicating she was taken against her will. When her phone is retrieved from amongst the couch cushions, the video Savannah had been creating shows the whole ugly scene, along with a glimpse of the kidnapper.

With all hands on deck, the investigation ensues as they quickly begin searching for a van seen in the area. When the vehicle is found incinerated, it becomes readily apparent that this is no ordinary kidnapping, but a well-executed operation. Tori & Braddock dig deep into the backgrounds of her parents, colleagues and business dealings, and learn several things, including the fact that Savannah was adopted, something her father neglected to mention. The team also realizes there’s a resemblance to the circumstances involving the case Tori was asked to consult on recently.

When people critical to the case start winding up dead, the team realizes there’s much more to this than a simple kidnapping…and then a second girl is taken in a brazen grab off a sidewalk. As Tori & Braddock begin to put the pieces together, an ugly story begins to emerge, and a major snowstorm is bearing down on the state…can they follow the trail and find the missing girls before it’s too late??

For those who have not seen my prior reviews of Mr. Stelljes, let me just state again that he is amazing! I ‘discovered’ his work a few years ago, and he rapidly became a favorite author of mine, and his character in that series, Mac McRyan, could stand up to any number of characters I enjoy reading – Lucas Davenport & Harry Bosch, just to name a few. Tori Hunter is no different, and once again, I found myself totally immersed in the story, reading well into the night!! Awesome, awesome!! Please give his work a try!!

A woman is murdered and her teenage daughter is missing. Could this case be connected to another girl that went missing months before?

This book takes you on an adventure with a wide variety of motives for why someone could want Savannah kidnapped. Money, revenge and sex top the list. However the real reason is one that goes back even further than Tori and Braddock would have originally guessed. Put simply, there are no limits to what some people will do for family. No matter what relationship they do or don’t currently have.

I personally enjoyed the fact that this book gave us a good mixture of crime and also seeing Tori’s personal development. She’s come a long way from the woman we met in the first book of this series. I can’t wait to see where she goes from here.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was full of tension and action that kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. It was a just one more chapter before bed read and before I knew it it was the early hours of the morning. Had me totally engrossed and engaged so that I didn’t want to put it down. An excellent read and highly deserving of 5 stars.

Former Special Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock make one heck of a team. In this second installment of Roger Stelljes' Tori Hunter Series, the duo is called in when a teenage girl is missing and her mother murdered. And, conveniently, the father arrives right after she was abducted. Touring throughout northern Minnesota, this novel takes on a life of its own as Tori and Will (along with the absolutely wonderful Steak) take on this missing person's case... and it might be linked to another case Tori has been involved with. The dialog is excellent and the action is non-stop. Right up to the end, this book is a wild ride and well worth staying up late to finish!
