I'm not super thrilled with the cover of this one, but it's been a pretty solidly circulating title since I've gotten it.

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Ate Pretty is ultimately about wanting what is best for your children. Assumingely inspired by the celebrity college admissions scandales a few years back, this novel tells the story about the family fallout after a mother tries to pay her daughter’s way into Princeton.

My last couple of reads by this author have been hit or miss, but Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls Are Pretty was a hit! I very much enjoyed this little escape from my "real life". I love books about sisters and this one did not disappoint.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

"Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty" is a very timely novel! The main character, Peyton, is a well-known television reporter whose world comes crashing down when she's caught up in a big college admissions scandal. This books follows her as she navigates the scandal, and the affects it has on her relationship with her husband and children. We also read about her sister, who is dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate.

I enjoyed how current this book is, but found it hard to root for Peyton, although she redeemed herself in the end. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This story was so enjoyable! I have to admit that I didn't love the main characters but the writing was so good, I just had to keep reading. Well written and believable, I would highly recommend.

Lauren Weisberger does it again! I love her writing style. She is witty and charming. I am easily sucked into her books and devour them in a day or two. This was a great storyline that will resonate with parents and the message that redemption is possible.

Struggled with this one.

Could not get thru it and I am a fan of the author, perhaps its just a bit out of step with the times but would be fun perhaps as a good summer beach read it just didn't do it for me unfortunately.

I did laugh at a few points, and think the writing was solid. Story wise I just was not vibing.

This is really more of a 2.5 than a 2

Where are all The Devil Wears Prada fans at?! The movie and book are both ICONIC! Lauren Weisberger is one of my favorite authors, and her latest release covered one of the big news stories from the past few years, the college admissions scandal.

"Frozen, Max couldn't move for a moment. It wasn't until the elevator doors closed around her that she even realized she'd stepped inside, and she held her breath as the floors disappeared under her, one by one, leading her to an unknown future."

Max is a rising college freshman and is headed to Princeton in the fall until scandal hits her upper west side home. Her famous newscaster, mother Peyton, is placed on leave, and she'll no longer be gracing televisions across the nation's most-watched morning show. Max's dad is facing prison time, her aunt's passion project is a significant risk for funding, and Max's admission to Princeton has just been rescinded.

While none of the characters were relatable whatsoever, that's what I LOVED about this book!! It completely immersed me in a world unlike mine, and I couldn't put it down. Peyton just kept making poor decisions, one after the other, but I couldn't help feeling for her and hoping for her forgiveness.

Lauren Weisberger's writing is SO addicting, and hello, Therese Plummer as a narrator, YES! I could listen to her read all day! Thank you to Random House and Penguin Random House Audio for the gifted copies!

I didn’t love it. It was still an enjoyable read. But I felt like I was rereading the national headlines story. I will still always pick up her books but this one just wasn’t my style.

I have loved Lauren Weisberger's books from the very beginning. While I've read them all, nothing has quite hit me like TDWP until this one. This book cracked me up. Did it surpass Prada as my favorite? Not quite. However, the story is fantastic and definitely in my top 3. Wildly entertaining, this book is like a guilty little pleasure.

When you live in a place called Paradise, life is perfect, right? Not quite. But that's the setting of Lauren Weisberger's latest novel Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty.

Skye feels unfulfilled in her role as mother and Girl Scouts co-leader. Is this what she got a college degree for? Meanwhile, her sister Peyton is a big-time TV news anchor in New York. That is, until Peyton's husband is arrested for buying their daughter's way into Princeton. Their daughter, Max, didn't even want to go to Princeton, but when have her parents - her mother, primarily - ever allowed anything that didn't keep up with appearances?

In the vein of Weisberger's first novel The Devil Wears Prada, which I'm sure her future work will forever be compared to, this novel skewers a certain type of people with the end message of it's better to be true to yourself.

If you're looking for a light read, especially something to get you through the long, dark winter months, then this novel, which takes place over a summer, might just brighten things up for you. I think it would be good for a book club discussion: talking about the real-life drama over all those rich parents who cheated their kids' ways into college, discussing what your family would do if it happened to you, rehashing your own college admissions process and how much input your parents had on where you went, and discussing the actions of the book's characters, of course. (I mean, can we talk about how Isaac never once throws Peyton under the bus??)

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty is published by Random House and is available to purchase now. I received a free Kindle version in exchange for this review.

Spoiler alert (since the blurbs try to keep this one plot aspect a secret). . . I usually love Lauren Weisberger’s books, but this one definitely fell flat for me. I think it’s because the main character was involved in a “varsity blues” style college admission scandal. Maybe it’s just too soon after the real life events we have all read about, or that honestly this character has no likable redeeming qualities? Either way this book was not enjoyable and I was so happy when I was finally fine with it. Despite my feelings, thank you to publisher for granting ARC in exchange for honest review.

Exactly what I was looking for and can always count on LW to deliver: a beach read type book but with some depth so I get some escapism without feeling like I should hide my book at work or in front of reader friends. This wasn’t as strong as When Life Gives You Lululemons but it’s still excellent. The story was really engaging and I finished this in one weekend!

How could I not pick this book up after all the Devil Wears Prada ones that I read and enjoying. In fact I’ve not ever read a book by this author that I disliked. Until now. I can’t take the political views that are so far skewed that it hard to continue. I have enough politics in my life that I don’t want it to ruin my reading time too.

I usually enjoy a light beach book but this was just too light and. unoriginal for me. The plot is old news and the characters were unimaginative.

I didn’t really like the sisters as they were very self centered and liars who thought more about what others thought than how their actions would affect their loved ones. Max was a wonderful, honest, caring person and my favorite character. A book about her college life would be a good read from this author.

Peyton seemingly has it all: an anchor career on a top-rated cable news channel, happy marriage to a great guy and a spunky 17 year-old daughter Max headed to Princeton. Her sister Skye is living in the NYC suburbs, highly educated and spends most days parenting her daughter, having given up her altruistic career.

Their worlds collide when a lie threatens Max's entrance to Princeton, the media fallout is swift and intense, and their family may never be the same-is the grass really greener for Skye and Peyton?

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty is a fresh spin on a well-worn topic. Weisberger's writing is and character development is real, sharp and contemporary. She captures emotions well and the characters, well affluent and glitzy, have very relatable emotions and insecurities. Pick this one up!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls Are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger is a novel about two sisters, and the things they'll do to keep up appearances. They both have a desire to be loved--by the public or by friends and family, and they are willing to lie and be fake to keep from being disliked. I didn't really like these characters; they were too shallow and cared too much about other people's opinions of themselves. Also, the main storyline was about another college admissions scandal, and I don't think that we need another book about that. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.
