Great book! It really tells the story that no matter how much you think you know someone you really don’t. Also the true power and love of family no matter what.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Lauren Weisberger hit it out of the park for me in The Devil Wears Prada and I was so excited to be able to read this book before all my friends! Once again, she out did herself with this book! I have already been telling all of my friends to read this as they will absolutely love it! It is that GOOD! I personally just went through the whole college admissions process (fairly) for my son so I could relate and this book focuses on the college admissions process we have been watching play out on the news with our celebrities. I loved the everything about this book. I can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks once they have had a chance to read it as I think this book will be a much talked about book this Spring/Summer.

A great, topical read. The family dynamics were interesting and real. Peyton is not very likeable but I don't think she,s supposed to be.

So this was a 2.5/3 star read for me. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into this book and I found myself not connecting with the characters or the storyline.
I love Lauren Wiesberger and have been a fan of all her previous books, however, this one for me just didn’t work.
Peyton and Skye are complete opposite sisters who look nothing alike and are nothing alike.
Peyton is a news anchor and her life has suddenly fallen apart when her husband is arrested for an admissions scandal.
I think even though this book wasn’t for me it will definitely be a beach read hit.

Thanks to Edelweiss and NetGalley for my advanced ebook copy.

Lauren Weisberger does it again with this newest book. Even the perfect family who has it all can have it all come crashing down. In the realistic novel, it tells the story of secrets, scandals, and lies. A father who has been arrested for a college admissions scam (oooohhhh doesn't that sound familiar) where he tried to buy his daughter's way into Princeton. I was incredibly vocal while reading this and was told I needed to leave the room for being "too loud while reading". If you want a page-turning summer read - this is the book to get. Flaws humans at their best.

I was provided this book for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book.

This novel is an engaging story of Peyton and Skye, two sisters who are part of the privileged few who take draconian measures to give their families all the advantages in life. Peyton is a news network anchor who is suddenly furloughed due to a college admissions scandal. Skye is a stay at home adoptive mom who surreptitiously charges tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt. Both of these women find out what's truly important in life, and what they need to achieve happiness.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It focused on a college admissions scandal and the fallout of that, following a family. I found it engaging enough to keep reading in like a soap opera kind of manner. 4 stars for me. Thanks to netgalley for the arc.

Overall, I liked this book. It nailed the world of TV news, for sure, and the characters and their relationships seemed earned. It left me hoping until the end for a sense of resolution, and it delivered. I appreciated the DWP reference. The scope felt a bit broad, however - I enjoyed Weisberger's other works that focused on either the city OR the 'burbs.

Thanks, Lauren Weisberger, for another great read! I was initially apprehensive to read another novel with the "college admissions scandal" as the central plot line, but the author's fresh take on this event was refreshing and really enjoyable. This could be her best work yet! I felt the characters were balanced and there were several stories within the story to keep readers entertained. Ending was perfect, too!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the relationships between Peyton and her sister Skye, her husband Isaac, and her daughter Max, as well as all the rest of the full cast of characters. Peyton is a morning news anchor in New York City and she loves her job, and is very good at it. She shares her home with her husband Isaac and teenage daughter Max. Peyton's past makes her feel desperate for her daughter to attend the best college possible and when she gets a chance to donate to a charity in return for a good word with the Board of Trustees on Max's behalf, she figures what's the harm? At least until her husband, on whose account the check was written, gets arrested on live TV. The fallout from Peyton's attempt to "help" reaches far and wide, pits family member against family member, and serves as a great reminder of the ripple effect. The plotline about buying a child's way into college is ripped straight from the headlines and very relevant. In fact, the author makes reference to The Queen's Gambit on Netflix which makes it feel very up to the minute. I had no trouble relating to these characters despite the differences in our lifestyles. I mean, who doesn't want the best for their kids, or find themselves running up credit card bills unthinkingly? Some issues are universal. Much like her earlier works, Ms. Weisberger injects plenty of humor here as well and I was caught off guard a few times when I actually laughed out loud.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

This is exactly the kind of book you want to read in a Severe Weather Emergency lockdown. Trust me. It’s soapy in a good way but suspenseful enough to keep you turning pages. Perfect escapism.

Compulsive, juicy and satirical, this was the book I was waiting for. My favorite read in ages.

Sisters Peyton and Skye are polar opposites: Peyton a morning news anchor and Skye is opening a home for underprivileged girls in Paradise, New York. Peyton's husband Isaac is a successful businessman who's also helping Skye with her venture. Until... Isaac is arrested in an emerging college scandal for allegedly getting his and Peyton's daughter Max into Princeton.

The story is brilliant in every aspect. Of course, there's a heavy focus on the college admission scandal itself, especially the family's involvement and motivations behind it. But an equally juicy part of the plot concerns the two sisters who are keeping secrets about their own past, all of which brought them to where they are today. And finally, I really enjoyed Max's part of the story - as an aspiring filmmaker, she didn't even want to go to Princeton in the first place, so now that she isn't able to anymore, she needs to figure out what to do with her life.

Lauren Weisberger's new novel is a fresh and intriguing and college education, wealth and family relationships. While the topic at hand is heavy, the author wrote in a light yet profound way, sprinkling the novel with humor and satire. I was very much involved in the story and the characters from the beginning to end, so this is definitely a 5-star read for me.

I really adore a good Lauren Weisberger book. They are always such smooth, fun reads, and they are incredibly current and topical. While I think the Peyton storyline dragged on a little bit too much here, the Weisberger charm was still there and always enjoyable. I actually would love a sequel to this book - I would love to hear what happens in Paradise during Max's gap year. Id love to know what happens to Peyton after her big decision. I think that this book left a lot open ended and I, for one, would love to follow up with these characters. And of course, fire engine :)

True to Lauren Weisberger's style, her latest novel delivers her signature wit, insight into an elite world, enthralling storytelling, relatable yet authentic characters, and snappy language. In this book, readers follow two sisters Peyton and Skye, who are complete opposites but seemingly have perfect lives to one another. Then, several lies threaten to derail everything. Peyton is a TV anchor who always has it together, including her daughter Max who is Ivy League-bound. Meanwhile, Skye is a stay-at-home mom in the New York suburbs who is fundraising to start up a new home for underprivileged kids as a way to get away from this PTA mom life she's been living in. Then, there's Max, Peyton's daughter, who is coming of age in this elite Manhattan prep school and who does want to attend Princeton but rather a film school on the west coast. This book follows all three of them as they attempt to move forward once lies explode and derail everything they know. Everything blows up for Peyton when her husband is arrested in a college admissions scandal, while Skye is hiding her deep debts. This book is full of quick, witty language and relatable characters and dialogue. We get back-and-forth perspectives to show how each woman is dealing with everything and interact with one another. I was definitely very, very, very interested to see where things would go and happen next, and in the end, I just wanted more. It's so rich with details and complex characters that made this read totally unputdownable.

Secrets, Lies, and Scandal.

Peyton and Skye are sisters who appear to be complete opposites. They look nothing alike and their lives are very different. Peyton is co-anchor of the morning news at ANN and Skye is working to open a home for underprivileged young women in Paradise, New York.

Peyton’s life has fallen apart and unfortunately for her, it’s all over mainstream media. Her husband Issac was arrested for a college admissions scam, in which he allegedly tried to buy his daughter’s way into Princeton. Skye is working hard to build something amazing all the while keeping a huge secret.

Taken straight from the headlines, “Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty” sounded like it would be salacious, scandalous, and downright witty. Unfortunately, for me, the premise fell flat as did the writing, which I didn’t find to be all that clever or scintillating. The lifestyle of the characters and the verbiage used by the author left me wanting and had no bearing on real-life (especially in the times of covid): For example:

“She made standing appointments at the derm and subjected her face and decolletage and, yes, even the tops of her hands to every imaginable laser and chemical peel legally available. One did red spots. One did brown spots. A third did fine lines and wrinkles. Another attacked errant hairs. A fifth did general sallowness. A sixth worked on collagen production. For a short period of time, she’d been pleased with the smoothed, lightened hairless result. And then before she could so much as buy a new foundation, it would all come surging back, a veritable tsunami of wrinkles and brown spots and stubble.”

And

“Their skin was smooth and plump thanks to Botox every ninety days, Juvederm every six months, and five hundred dollar creams as often as needed. They could throw an elegant dinner party for twelve with two hours notice “Sold out” and “booked” or “unavailable” simply didn’t apply to them. Neither did waiting in lines of any kind.”

Needless to say, I was and am the wrong reader for this novel seeing as I have been living in leggings while in isolation with my cat for the last 11 months and don’t plan on getting Botox or Chemical Peels.

This was another buddy read with Kaceey.

Peyton has it all, an anchor job of the most watched morning show, a perfect husband and daughter, Max. Max is Princeton bound in the fall, or so she thinks. Her dad is suddenly arrested one fateful day for bribery outside their apartment. He has been accused of paying Max’s way into Princeton, which happens to be where he went.

Skye, Peyton’s sister seems to have it all as well. She is married to the love of her life and they have an adopted daughter as well. Skye, who is harboring her own secrets is trying to raise money for charity is wrapped up in the admissions scandal by name.

I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. It is a timely novel especially with the true stories we here about with parents doing “what it takes” to get their children into college. This is sure to be a summer hit!

Everyone should most definitely put this must read novel on their summer reading list!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty.

The author does what she does best, satirize the excess and entitlement of the privileged and elite but she takes it one step further.

Peyton is a well respected anchor of a morning daytime show but when her husband is accused of paying for their only child's entry into a prestigious university, their lives are turned upside down as their reputations are convicted in the court of public opinion.

At the same time, Peyton's sister, Skye, is having problems of her own, dealing with a skyrocketing spending habit and securing funding for her dream project, a school for underprivileged young women.

As their personal crises each come to a head, Peyton and Skye must evaluate their relationships not just with each other but with themselves.

The writing is pure Ms. Weisberger, funny, sarcastic, amusing; the chapter titles were funny and I liked the relationship between the sisters. They were close but realistically, when their problems became almost too much to bear, they were both afraid to confide in each other because they feared being judged.

I liked how Peyton's fear of her daughter not being able to get into an Ivy League school stemmed from her own failures as a college student; how she didn't want her daughter to struggle but soon realized that struggle is part of life and she underestimated her daughter's talent and skills as a filmmaker.

I really liked Peyton's daughter; she was strong, opinionated, artistic, creative and honest. She was relatable, flawed, and genuine and her sincerity shone through in the writing and narrative.

This is a story about women, Peyton, Skye and Peyton's daughter, but I do want to mention Peyton and Skye's husbands. They make brief appearances and they are good men, good parents and good husbands. Not one of them is crude, adultering or disrespectful.

It is always a pleasure to read about flawed marriages between decent people.

The ending is happy and everyone gets their just desserts, including Peyton. She did a bad thing but she mans up in the end. Life goes on, and everyone is on the path they are meant to be on.

Yeeeeeesssss! After Devil wears Prada, I read several books of Lauren Weisberger : and most of them are quite miss for me! I was expecting something juicy, intriguing, exciting, engaging, addictive from the author for so long and finally she gave me what I was truly waiting too long!
Pick up your pop corn and your favorite red and cancel everything to have quality time with this scandalous read!

College admissions scandal is still an argumentative topic and Julie Buxham’s Admission book was such a great and gripping example you may enjoy. Ms. Buxham mostly concentrated on young adults’ voices at her book but as you may imagine Ms. Weisberger told the story from both adults and teenagers’ perspective, wrapped up with an riveting family drama filled with web of lies: it was smart, interesting, capturing.

The story starts with the introduction of Skye- Peyton: the sisters are polar opposites, chose different directions as their life paths. Both of them seem having it all, succeeding to achieve their goals.

The book’s story progression resemblances mash up between Gossip Girl- Morning Show: Peyton reminds us of Morning Show’s cool, work oriented, anxious Alex Levy played by Jennifer Aniston ( both of them are hosts of morning show, loving their job, having problematic marriages, smart daughters! )

Peyton’s perfectly built life style is about to shatter into pieces after her husband’s involvement into college admission bribery scandal! They pushed their daughter Max to go to Princeton for brighter future plan even though she insisted on pursuing her dreams as movie maker ( I found so many common points with this character. She was definitely my reflection of teenage time! It was so easy to understand her worries after losing her spot at Ivy League. She has to find what she’ll do with her life instead of acting against her parents’ future plans for her! )

As Peyton turns into the biggest element of traumatic scandal, her sister Skye who is happily married with Gabe, raising her adopted daughter in Paradise, a suburban town surrounded Lululemon yoga panted mothers. Even she tried to be helicopter mother, adopting to her new life, concentrating on her new project for under privileged children she works with Peyton’s husband, she fails more and of course the effects of whirlwind scandal her sister’s family involved, reflect her life. She has also big secret she keeps from both her sister and her husband but now her secret is also about to come out to destroy everything she’s worked for!

This book was entertaining criticism and creative commentariat approach to scandals of Upper East socialite. One of my quickest read!

Of course Max was so far my favorite character who tries to find her place in this privileged society, even though she’s smart enough to make her own choices by her unique abilities. She was genuine, quirky and so much lovable!

I loved the sisters’ balancing, dysfunctional relationship style as well!

I’m giving four elite, intriguing, scandalous, unputdownable page turner stars!

This book is absolutely winner! A witty, quick, engaging, surprising, humorous read I was looking forward to read from one of my favorite authors!
Special thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group for sharing this year’s one of the most anticipated books’ digital copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.
