Didn’t finish this one. I used to be a big fan of this author but her books have begun to feel a bit dated and out of touch.

4.5 stars. Lauren Weisberger is a becoming a go-to author for me. She gives us a mix of humor and family drama.

Skye and Peyton couldn't be any different but both seem to have a great life. Skye lives in Paradise, is a class mom, and volunteers for all of her daughter's activities. She does this all while creating a home for underprivileged girls so they can attend Paradise's great school. Peyton is a famous television national news anchor with a beautiful place in NYC with a doting husband and smart and good daughter, Max. Peyton's world begins to unravel when her husband gets arrested for allegedly paying for their daughter's admission into Princeton.

So many juicy secrets, snark, humor, and also character growth. This book was great! Perfect palate cleanser between thrillers. Can't wait for another one from Lauren Weisberger!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House for this digital copy!

This book didn't work for me. I was looking forward to a lighthearted beach read but I got a book about privileged botoxed women that were hard to like. I usually like books like this but I think the humor was missing.

Remember when Aunt Becky bought her daughters way into college? Well, that’s the situation we have going on here! Max’s mother made a donation in the hopes that it would help her get into Princeton. Well, it worked! But it backfired 🥴 the repercussions of Peyton’s actions reaches all of her loved ones in negative ways.

I don’t know what it is about books with rich people and their crazy ways of life, but I get sucked in with every single one! Probably because it’s so far from my reality, and the shit show that others make their life into is hard to turn away from 🙈

I really enjoyed this one and feel like it’s a perfect beach read!

Thank you to @randomhouse and @netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review! Sorry it’s so late! Better late than never though, right? 🥴

Unfortunately I was pretty bored by this one... didn't feel new or original, this story has been done too many times now. I liked her previous books but this was a miss for me.

The Devil Wears Prada is one of my all time favorites, so I'm always eager to get my hands on Lauren Weisberger's latest. Unfortunately, quite a few in the past have been misses for me....but not this one!I was sucked into the story right away and couldn't stop reading. I work in college admissions, so that helped hook me too. Though most of the characters irritated me at time (especially Peyton) the character I did love was Max!

Though the book dealt with a similar topic as Julie Buxbaum's YA novel, Admission, this novel had both the adult and young adult perspective, which made it interesting. Overall a good read from Lauren Weisberger.

Peyton was never a star student in high school - opting to be social and have fun instead. When high school ended, she realized she was alone as all her friends were leaving for colleges and careers. With a lot of hard, dedicated work, Peyton turns things around and ends up on top of the world: an anchor spot on a national news show, plenty of money to keep herself looking youthful, the ability to send her daughter to the most elite private school, and a husband who loves her. After one morning show where Peyton breaks the news story of another wave of college admissions scandals, Peyton is horrified to learn that her husband is one who is swept up in the latest wave of indictments. Only her husband didn't commit the crime. As Peyton is living out the nightmare of having her perfect life upended, her older (perfect) sister Skye is having troubles of her own. While she has chosen to be a stay-at-home mother, she realizes she is not happy.

I went into this book thinking it would be another book that featured the insanely rich trying to get away with poor behavior, but I came away realizing that all every good parent wants is what is best for their children. Peyton's mistake, which was ethically and morally very wrong, came from an honest place and one in which she truly didn't realize at the time was not the right thing to do. This story also quietly revealed the duplicity of college admission coaches who encouraged the crime and made it seem normalized and "just what one does" for their kids. This story also delved into the background of two sisters who, while being very different, are very close and who, through the current trials in their lives, were able to become even closer.

I always look forward to Lauren Weisberger's new books and this one did not disappoint!

I really wanted to get into this book but I just couldn’t. Usually I am a huge fan of Lauren Weisberger. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and the storyline was a bit boring. I think even though this book wasn’t for me that it would be a good beach read.

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty is about two sisters who are close, but live too very different lives. Peyton is a blonde, botox skinned mother of a Princeton bound daughter with a loving husband. Skye is a stay at home mom of an adorable adopted girl also with a loving husband. Peyton is a news anchor and Skye is just looking for more than what she has.

When Peyton makes a life changing mistake, everyone is effected. Peyton's marriage starts to hang in the balance, Max may not get to go to Princeton, Peyton's husband may be arrested, and Skye's dream of becoming more than just a stay at home mom and helping others may be ruined.

This was a really interesting read and I'm so glad I picked it up. I kept waiting to see what was going to happen next and my feelings about Peyton were like a rollercoaster.

There was so much family drama and I LOVED it. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a good family drama.

Eh I didn't love this. Her other books are for sure better and this one was just OK. Still fun to read but not one I would read again.

I enjoyed this so much! Some of the characters were maddening, some sympathetic, and the storyline kept me interested through the end. I kind of want a sequel. (Also, since this takes place, I believe, in 2020, it would've been interesting to see how the entire situation was handled during pandemic and lockdown, though I realize it was written before covid-19.)

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty is no Devil wears Prada.
It felt like a case of you can't make this stuff up and real life is better than fiction. The actual Hollywood celebrity college admission scandal was much more fun (and scandalous) to read about than this book that might have been (?) inspired by it... I don't know the timeline, but the parallels are definitely there.
It's not an awful book by any means, but I struggled connecting with the characters, and the storyline was just not fresh and unique enough to keep me interested.

Unlike all of the other books I have read by Lauren Weisberger, I had a hard time getting into this book. I think it was because I had a hard time liking the characters. Peyton made me want to pull my hair out. Her selfishness was too much for me. I did however enjoy the ending the book. I thought that all of the characters were wrapped up nicely and I found myself wanting to know about what was going to happen in their futures.

This book is filled with family drama. It is a very timely topic with college admissions being in the news. Weisberger will have you feeling all kinds of feelings and rooting for this family to find their happy ending. This is a great book to read this summer.

Take a college admissions scandal and add a bit of family drama, and you have Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty. After a well crafted beginning, very little actually happens in this plot. All of the excitement happens after the final page. The characters are lackluster, with the exception of Max, the teenager in this story that is affected most by the scandal. The interpersonal tensions are not enough to make up for the lack of plot; I found myself wondering the whole way through when the plot would develop. This one is likely to be enjoyed by Weisberger’s existing fans, but is not likely to win new followers.

I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion

Where the Grass is Green was an entertaining and thought provoking story. Pulled straight from the headlines we see Peyton and her husband Issac in trouble for paying to get their daughter into Princeton. Sky is Peyton’s sister and has troubles of her own. She hates her job, where she lives and now she’s made a huge mistake and she’s keeping it from her husband.

Everyone is keeping secrets. Everyone is lying to each other. This is family.

The two sisters were very snarky and talked about some really entertaining things. Peyton was a little annoying…. Not taking responsibility for things she’s done and expecting to be treated specially because she is a famous tv anchor.

I liked the story and characters and that it kind of gave you a look into a family full of imperfections.

A sister-jealousy story that rises above the mundane and usual. Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty is about the secrets we keep from our sisters and our spouses and ourselves, and others, often to the detriment of our relationships and our self-esteem. Peyton and Skye are daughters of the globe-trotting Marcia (who should have a book of her own). Both have strong marriages and strong family loyalty, and each has a daughter as well, but that's where the similarities end. Peyton has achieved the super star TV anchor position that she strived for; Skye was doing great things for a non-profit and then stepped out to be “just a mom”. Both spend a lot of time questioning their own happiness and envying others’ success (including their own sisters). One extremely poor choice (a lie) on Peyton’s part threatens to bring her world crashing down, and will also impact all those she loves, especially her daughter and Skye (and her daughter). I loved the surprise ending because it didn’t feel like that was going to happen and honestly seemed out of character for Peyton. It was a fun read and will be great fodder for book club discussions.

Read this book in two sittings! at first I wasn't sure where it was going and I was concerned it was going to be a regurgitation of the real life news. HOWEVER, I think the characters around Peyton made it so that wasn't the case. I really enjoyed how the focus was on the 3 ladies and everything swirled around this family. I liked how things started resolving themselves near the end, but OMG THAT ENDING!!!! Will we get a follow up book?!

I found this book to be entertaining but it was predictable. There were too many things happening with characters and it annoyed me that some plot lines didn’t resolve at the end. I’ve read other novels by Weisberger that I prefer to this one, but overall it was an okay summer read. I definitely expected something more captivating.

A great new title by Weisberger - it wasn't what I expected at all, thinking it would be more like A Devil Wears Prada. Will definitely be recommending this one to patrons this summer!
