A breezy summer read with a bit of emotional heft and family dynamics. I loved the relationship between the sisters, and would have appreciated more time spent with the three generations of women. All in all, a fun light read.

I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!

Lauren Weisberger's latest book still dishes out the witty dialogue and name-dropping fun I encountered in her other books.

I did enjoy reading this book and I recommend it because it delivers on the enjoyment factor. Her characters were also mostly likable and I cared about what would happen to them. I am sure I'm in the demographic this book was aimed at, also being in my 40's with older children (and one in college).

However, the plot really did not resonate with me. I found it to be unbelievable the way a lot of it played out, and while I understand the ending, the book IMO stopped the story too soon, so it left me taking away 2 stars. Perhaps this was intended to have a sequel?

All in all, it was funny and entertaining, and never boring, so I would still recommend you read this book. I received an ARC of this book as a reviewer for NetGalley.

Where the Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger follows two sisters living in wealthy areas of New York on the cusp of momentous life changes. This is the first book I’d read by Weisberger and the punchy writing had a cinematic quality that immediately drew me in. The story largely focuses on Peyton and Skye who are part of extremely wealthy circles in NYC and NY suburbs. Peyton is a mother and famous news anchor whose career gets derailed by a scandal within her family and Skye is a stay-at-home mother who is very involved in her young daughter’s school and activities. She finds herself unfulfilled and with massive debt and must answer for that.

I found it fascinating to ponder the lives of the extremely wealthy and the superficiality and lifestyle that sucks people in. So much is done for appearances and the idea that parents want to give their children every advantage. The world they live in is beyond my comprehension, but the sisters are relatable characters even when they’re making bad decisions. It’s interesting to consider if actually breaking laws not immediately apparent is really so different than parents spending huge sums of money to give their child every advantage. I loved the close relationship between the sisters. The dialogue was fantastic and hilarious. I was happy to be along for the ride and grew attached to the characters even as they sometimes made maddening decisions. A great summer read!

Thank you Random House and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

don`t hate the story but I also don`t like it. I am somehow in between. These kinds of stories
are a little bit repetitive for me. Maybe from my perspective, it is and for others, it is not. A
scandal of the privileges.

The story follows as to how the synopsis has told it. Two sisters having the best time of their
lives even though they are totally the opposite of one another. Their life was all going well until a
scandal of bribing emerges. Peyton`s husband, Isaac, was involved in bribing into college
admission. They want their daughter Max to go to Princeton for a future they wanted not the
future Max wants. Her dream is to pursue the field of Film, but her parents think that they know
a better future for Max. This is the part the felt like I've seen or read it before and this is the start
where their life changes and crumbles along with the life of Skye, Peyton`s sister, She has her
own secret that even her husband does not know. But her name is also involved in the scandal
and now everything that she had worked for is on the verge of collapsing.

I know that Peyton just wants the best for her daughter. Every parent wants that but it also won't
hurt to listen and give them a chance to pursue what they want. They might regret it later or not
but it is their choice. It is a better regret than not telling what they really want. If there is one
thing that I like in this story, it is the character of Max. She understands the community she lives
in but she is nothing like any of them. She is unique in every kind of way. A character that
portraits strength and intelligence.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book and reviewing it. I love Lauren Wiseberger's books. "Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls are Pretty" is now probably one of my favorites by her.
The subject matter with the colleges and how the student reacted when she found everything out was so well written. The characters in the book made me love them and the story so much more. I felt for them and what they were going through. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.

"Where the Grass is Green...." is very reminiscent of the college admissions scandal that took place a few years ago and that is noted within the novel, which I appreciated. It wouldn't felt disingenuous if Weisberger didn't call that out. That way, it was like this book was taking place in the same universe as our reality.

Within the book there are three POVs: Peyton, Skye and Max. All are really reliable narrators and I enjoyed reading them all. Peyton was definitely supposed to be the most unlikable character just because of what she did but she isn't -- I loved reading her and I loved her personality. I didn't agree with what she did but as the novel goes on and you start to see more of the real Peyton, you could understand her position.

Skye and Max were interesting too, all very different characters and I felt for their personal struggles. You get a real insight into the characters, their personalities and the reasoning behind their actions. Weisberger really makes them come to life and makes them relatable, yet interesting to read. As someone who reads a lot of books, this is something unique to Weisberger in my opinion.

The thing I love most about Weisberger's writing is that she has the ability to weave real life problems with light hearted language and scenarios. It was one of my favorite parts of this book... we were dealing with real life issues, heavy & dramatic issues at that but it still felt casual. That takes real talent because it doesn't come across as boring or insensitive. It's a balancing act that she does so well!

This is superficial but I love the way Westchester and NYC life was captured throughout the book. I grew up in NYC but went to college in Westchester (my college town even gets a shoutout!) so I understand both fairly well. I think Lauren captured it perfectly -- there was glamour, movement, busyness yet an odd calming feeling to some of the settings.

While some parts of the book might not feel relatable: all the characters are 'famous' and wealthy, it felt very down to earth at the same time. I think this is a novel that everyone can find something they like: it has drama, romance, familial relationships and a bit of glamour & spark.

As I said before, this book is really light and refreshing, maybe that's because I read a lot of drama and thrillers but I enjoyed every moment of this book. I was never bored and was truly captured from the first chapter.

I simply cannot recommend "Where The Grass is Green and the Girls Are Pretty" enough!

I am always in for a book by Lauren Weisberger--great way to start a summer book TBR. Where the Grass is Green was a little slower to start for me, but ultimately was a satisfactory read, and I thought the topic a clever undertaking. I could not predict the ending and really wondered if these characters would ever redeem themselves.

This book me took me a long time to finish. The characters weren't developed, and the stakes weren't high enough. The ending was a bit disappointing. I really wanted to like it.

Thanks to #NetGalley for the copy!

This book was so fun! I’ve read others by this author and have always enjoyed her story telling. Great summer read, highly recommended.

This book is definitely not The Devil Wears Prada -- but I will read anything Lauren writes!! If you want a fun, light hearted book to take to the beach with you, this is a great one!! Peyton and Skye make for a great sisters fiction even though Amazon does not have it listed as sisters fiction.

This book reminded me of one of those old afterschool specials except for grownups. Characters making really poor choices and eventually learning their lessons and in the end hopefully choosing to do the right thing.

I was looking forward to reading this book because I’d read the preview and the book was very topical. Also, the The whole idea of paying to get your children into college always struck a chord with me since I have college-aged children.

This book had so much potential, but I was disappointed in the parents, who wouldn’t see their daughter for who she was.

3 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I've typically been a fan of Weisberger books but this one fell a little flat for me. The story felt like it was pieced together from whatever the author saw on instagram or the news that day with the main plot quite literally borrowed from Lori Laughlin and her vlogger daughter. It felt like you could have read the beginning and read the end and you wouldn't have missed anything in the middle. Not enough action or character development but the last sentence was a good one.

I know just who will love this book. There is an audience for it even though it wasn’t great for me. Two sisters and a daughter that are all self absorbed, ignorant women. Just couldn’t like them. There are some good lessons portrayed but really, just an ok story. But I did finish it and that says a lot because I usually give up on a book if I don’t like the characters.

🌻 REVIEW 🌻 Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the summer and Lauren Weisberger will always be a favorite of mine so I was ecstatic to receive an ARC of her latest. However, I must admit I didn’t particularly like the storyline for this one. 🤭 I don’t find the college admission scandal plot to be very engaging and I think it’s kind of hard to devote an entire novel to this topic. BUT

I still enjoyed the relatability of the characters with real life problems and the thorough character development one can expect from Lauren. There is something relatable about trying to be perfect, keep up appearances, hoping you have your life all together and then suddenly one day realizing you don’t. This is one of Lauren’s specialities. It doesn’t matter the plot. You find yourself in the pages because Lauren knows how to pinpoint humanity in its realist, most raw form.

4/5 🌻🌻🌻🌻

At first glance, I thought Weisberger's Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty would be an enjoyable and lighter read; and while it very much is, the novel tackles much heavier subjects than I originally thought. Sisters Skye and Peyton are living fabulous lives with rewarding passions, but somehow neither of them is truly happy.

Weisberger tackles contemporary hot button issues in a light hearted and enjoyable way and allows her characters to grow over the course of the story. Overall, this novel was much more than I originally anticipated and such an enjoyable read.

Some author names are synonymous with summer. For me, one of those authors is Lauren Weisberger. And her latest is perfect for a fun summer read!

Anchor at a popular morning show, Peyton is beautiful and successful. She’s happily married and has an amazing daughter headed off to college soon. Enter: the college scandal. You know- the one that was alllll over the headlines for awhile. This plot is loosely based off of that and was a robust narrative. When the scandal hits, Peyton’s fall from grace is epic. But while licking her wounds she’s served a heaping plate of humble pie and begins to realize, maybe the grass IS greener on the other side.

This was fun and witty, perfect for a summer beach read. The character development was spectacular and I found myself rooting for the family. The insight into the privileged lives of successful New Yorkers was enjoyable and juicy. Overall, a fun and quick read that I found to be equally light yet complex. 4⭐️My thanks to @randomhouse for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review!

I just loved "Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls Are Pretty" by Lauren Weisberger. A powerful, relevant story of two sisters with seemingly perfect lives, finding themselves in very difficult circumstances. Wonderful lessons and humbling experiences in this book, relatable and current. Very good built up and conclusion. Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for the copy for review.
