I cringed when I read the word "Nazis" in the first chapter. How many more books that tackle World War 2 can really be written? My worries were unfounded. This one was SO original. The basis for the book is on one family's history starting with the war and leading into what roles that followed after the Holocaust. But the story expands to include the choices that others made as well.

I loved the focus on Jews after the war even more than the 1940s setting. Although there was one flashback scene, for the most part this book focused on the impacts of history in modern day. I have not read many books set in northern Europe - that made the story even more interesting. Anna agrees to fly to Iceland to meet her uncle. Little does she know that their supper was going to change her life. The rest of the book is about her quest to solve a family mystery. Part of the story also takes place in Denmark.

This is a strong suspense book that includes intrigue. There was an obvious part of the story that I did figure out. But there were many other parts that I did not see coming. Once you get into the storyline, you will probably keep reading until it is done as it does keep you guessing.

What caused me to love this book even more was the extensive research that the author did in preparation for writing this book. At the end, she talks about all of the parts that were true, all of the parts that were based on facts, and all of the parts that were fiction. Her efforts made the story ring true even though parts of it never happened. There is also a translation guide since she incorporates different countries into the tale.

I knew very little about the Mossad before reading this book. I enjoyed learning about how these brave men and women protect Jews around the world to make sure that another Holocaust never happens again. A new part of history to life was brought to life for me.

I definitely recommend this book. And I am sure that I will read more books by this author. Glad I could read this book through NetGalley. This review is my idea. All opinions are my own.

The concept of the book was great, it's almost like there's a thread of historical fiction running through it. And kudos to the author for all the details put in. The only set back for me was the dialogue. People don't speak in paragraphs and this became distracting throughout.
I did like Anna, she's a great female lead and other than the dialogue, the book is well written.

"Treacherous Legacy" by Kathi Oram Peterson was a suspenseful read with a lot of history thrown in. I had mixed feelings about this book. I am not a history buff so some parts had too much history in it for me. Yet, some parts were more suspenseful than history filled, and I loved that part! All that to say, if you enjoy a clean, suspenseful read with history, you will enjoy this novel.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Kathi Oram Peterson had done it again. Another masterpiece. This book was packed with action and suspense. It has a very unique story line set in Iceland. i love Anna’s character. She is smart and daring but also knows her limits and when to ask for help, even if she really would rather go it alone. She had to decide who to trust as she tries to uncover decades of family secrets. I think it’s safe to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this book!

A family legacy of unanswered questions and danger
A family with a history of questions. What had happened to parents, grandparents and even great grandparents? Were the rumors of great grandfather being a traitor true as the world seemed to feel or was the family version of him not helping the Nazis but simply vanishing true? And if the family version is true, what happened to him and his wife? When Anna is summoned to meet with her uncle, Ezra, these are the questions facing her. Ezra has been searching for answers for years along with Anna’s father, who is now dead and now he wants Anna’s help. As their meeting in the restaurant progresses Ezra is dies in front of Anna. Anna now must decide if she will pursue the search for truth, that may put her in danger or ignore it. As she moves forward, she finds her life full of unexpected twists and turns, shocks and surprises, and help where it was not expected. A truly engrossing book. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm usually not a fan of suspense, but this one was intense and kept me reading. The story takes place mostly in Iceland. Anna Braverman, comes to Iceland, to meet with her Uncle Ezra, who is a Massad agent. Anna ends up running for her life, when her uncle is killed right in front of her. Kristoffer Tomasson, a reporter comes to her aid. Anna's family is Jewish, Anna has heard the story of her great grandparents since she was young. She has always believed them, to be spies of the Nazi's, but Anna's father and uncle have always insisted they were not spies. With the death of both her father and uncle, Anna is determined to carry on in her search to find out the truth of what happened. This story is fast paced, the author had to have spent quite a while researching, to write such a compelling book. I don't want to give any of the story away, but know that I enjoyed and would recommend this book.

TREACHEROUS LEGACY by KATHY ORAM PETERSON is a gripping suspense novel which takes place mostly in Iceland where Anna Braverman has come to see her uncle Ezra, who, together with her deceased father was a Mossad agent. When her uncle is shot, she and journalist Kristofer Tomasson work together to try and prove that her great grandfather, joseph Braverman, was not a Nazi spy. Running for her life, Anna is not sure who she can trust.
There are many interesting characters in this book and the plot is fast paced and full of suspense. The author has described the horrors of the Holocaust in a way that shows her appreciation of the Jewish people. She has obviously done a great deal of research and it is interesting to see how the Jews living in Iceland were treated by the Nazi régime.
I am not going to tell you any more as I do not want to spoil things for you,
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
