The Dream Team series just keeps getting better and better! Hattie and Axl are our romance duo this time around and Kristen Ashley does not disappoint. The action and mayhem of the last two books are not the highlight this time around. We see more of the family relationship struggles for both Hattie and Axl – good thing they have each other to lean on…or into!

Hattie’s daddy issues were highlighted at the end of the last book Dream Chaser. And the daddy is a drag until he meets Axl – maybe he just wanted a good man for his daughter – but Axl puts him in his place on first meet. Daddy is more supportive as the story evolves – even going to one of Hattie’s review shows. Axl’s dad is a jerk, too. Get the drift of the family dynamic that gets the most words in the story.

Axl and Hattie are such a perfect match up – via our dear Rock Chick Lottie – who is in the throes of wedding planning chaos. Their romance is pretty drama free for the most part – definently a reversal of our author’s usual turmoil romance recipe. No kidnappings, no major breakups, I don’t even think there was a mall shoot out. But I am still here for the romance. There is some continuing “Crooked Cop” development with our friendly Cisco (the baddie trying to go goodie) in the mix. I am really looking forward to his love match – amIright?

Dream Spinner was overall a marvelous love story. It was charming and Axl and Hattie have a lot of “Sunday” couple time – and not many interruptions (another Ashley signature move.) In past books, I have been a little overwhelmed with Kristen pulling in so many of the past peripheral characters that it gets just too crowded. This book really focused primarily on our current Dream Team ladies and it was exactly right. And that epilogue was dynamite! So many storylines to explore for our authorette and I can not wait for Pepper and Augustus up next!

"I get that, honey. But you're not experiencing the adorableness of you."

I've been waiting for this story ever since I got a taste of the connection between Axl and Hattie. I knew he would have his work cut out for him trying to climb the wall she had built up around her. But he's Axl, right? How much longer can she resist him? And like, really, how has she managed to do so this long? That right there proves that she's much stronger than she thinks she is.

I'm a big fan of dancing and I really enjoyed that part of this story. Hattie is so talented and so broken. My heart was breaking for her and I was mentally encouraging her to just give Axl a chance to show her how beautiful she truly is. That's one of my favorite things about the author's writing. Her alpha males are so big and strong and protective. They take such good care of their women. I get goose bumps just reading how they talk sweet and bossy... sigh. ❤️

I can't share the details, but there's danger and suspense. Opportunity for the sexy men to take care of the women, most of which can take care of themselves. What a lot of fun the girls are. I love their sass and their big hearts. They are always up to something and keep the men on their toes. Never a dull moment and nonstop entertainment. That's what keeps us readers coming back for more, right? The line forms here...

Dream Spinner was Hattie and Axl's story. There was a lot of back and forth between these two in the beginning. They both wanted each other but it did take a long time before they finally got together. And when they did, it was hot and sweet. Just like the previous two couples. These men are very alpha and protective of their women. They had their backs and also cared and loved them. Hattie and Axl were no different and it was interesting to see how their relationship progressed. I loved how Axl was with Hattie and they were nice together. There was also an underlying backstory that fascinated me. I can't wait until the last book in the series to see how everything will play out. Overall, Dream Spinner was a pleasant read. I can't wait to read Dream Keeper which is Pepper and Auggie's story. I think it will be a grand finale. Not only for the romance but also the continuing backstory which I'm sure will both be great.

I love this series and thought this was a great addition. Hattie and Axl were a lot of fun and I found myself flying through this book. I definitely recommend this series.

All Hattie has ever wanted is to dance professionally but despite all the time and effort she has put into it just like her father has always told her she will never be good enough for that to happen. It is for that reason that she despite her attraction to Axl she will never pursue a relationship with him as it would just be another dream that was destined not to come true.

Axl has been attracted to Hattie for a while and believes that they are destined to be together, but he is beginning to lose faith that it will ever happen. All it will take is her being threatened for his feelings to implode and there is nothing he won’t do to not only keep her safe but convince her that the only place she belongs is with him.

Although Axl had his moments when his frustration with Hattie was apparent once she began opening up to him he showed her that she could count on him to always be there for her and that he loved and appreciated the woman that she was. Hot chemistry, intrigue and two characters who help each other heal from their pasts.

Axl and Hattie are the headliners in Dream Spinner. Although I wasn't the biggest fan of Axl in the beginning when he made some dick moves, he did redeem himself. Both he and Hattie managed to recognize their mistakes and fix them. They showed emotional vulnerability and growth -- overcoming dysfunctional relationships with their parents and past trauma. I appreciated that this vulnerability was never portrayed or perceived as weak. I liked them together and the way they supported each other.

With each book, I find that I'm more and more enamored with a secondary character -- Brett Cisco. He intrigues me with his criminal background and softy heart. There are some tantalizing teasers in the epilogue. I can't wait until he gets his own book.

I had trouble settling on a rating for Dream Spinner. I enjoyed it, but was expecting more action on the ongoing mystery threading through this series. Not much is revealed. This was also more character-driven story than I usually expect from this author. That threw me a bit.

Continuing in her typical style, Axl and Hattie are in emotional turmoil. Hattie is dealing with emotional issues left over from years of abuse and has shuttered herself against all her friends. Axl is not happy about this but when Hattie starts receiving creepy calls, he’s ready to protect her against all costs. Get ready for an emotional ride with plenty of KA style alpha dialogue, we continue the Dream Men series with an extremely swoony hero and sweet heroine.

Kristen Ashley spins another dreamy tale, filled with alpha-men we love, sisterhood, family, a spark of adventure, and most certainly-LOVE.

Hattie had been handpicked for AXL by Lottie, Jet McAlister now married to Eddie Chavez's sister. Like all of the women between The Rock Chicks, and the Dream Man women, she resists at first. It wasn't as hard of a battle for Axl as I anticipated it to be and once they got over their initial reluctance, mainly being Hattie's shyness, they got on quite nicely. I particularly liked Brett Cisco, and would enjoy his story. To be honest for the first 25% of the story I was more inclined to learn more about Brett than I was about Axl. I also loved that Hattie was a woman of many talents.

I have yet to read a book by Kristen Ashley that I didn't enjoy and you know why...because she writes like a rockstar! I try my best to make sure I have no interruptions when I sit down with a KA novel because I want to be transported into a different world and that is exactly what happened with this book especially with the audiobook narration done by Susannah Jones.

Hattie and Axl have been dancing around their feelings for one another for a while now, mostly because of Hattie not wanting to give into her feelings because she feels she isn't good enough...silly woman. But now that Hattie has a stalker after her Axl will not let her go unprotected and if that means she finally realizes that she is exactly what he wants then that's a bonus.

The chemistry was great between Hattie and Axl and I loved the way he was protective of her but not overly protective, meaning she could still be who she was.

There is a lot more than just Hattie's stalker going on in this story and we get to see a whole bunch of the old gang from Nightingales, Rock Chicks, and the Dream Man Series. This book can be read as a standalone but I guarantee once you read this you'll want to read more!

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Romantic Suspense, Steamy Contemporary Romances, Alpha Males, Strong Women, and an awesome gang of friends.

Happy Reading!!!

Kristen Ashley is one of my favorite authors, so I was really excited to read her newest book, Dream Spinner. This is the third book in The Dream Team series and this one is about Axl and Hattie. It is an enchanting, fast paced story with some suspense added to the mix. As always, KA includes a cast of colorful secondary characters, which is what makes this story and everything she writes so much fun and interesting.

This is an upbeat and intoxicating story about Axl and Hattie and it is wonderful to have a ringside seat as they fall in love. Axl and Hattie are perfect for each other; they have explosive chemistry and a passionate relationship as they help each other deal with their troublesome fathers, Hattie’s stalker and some dirty cops.

Hattie is a dancer at Smithies. She is shy and caring, but has very little confidence because her father is always putting her down. When Axl asks Hattie for a date, she turns him down, even though she likes him, because she is afraid to say yes.

Axl is a commando who works for Hawke. Anyone who works for Hawke is tough and willing to do all the things the police can’t or won’t do. The commandos aren’t afraid to cross any boundaries, they get the job done, whatever it takes, legally or illegally. Axl is protective by nature and when he finds out Hattie is receiving threats, he wants to be the one keeping her safe. He cares about Hattie, but she is vulnerable and stubborn and afraid to open her heart.

I enjoyed all the encounters between Axl and Hattie and I also enjoyed all of Hatties amusing girlfriends. When they get together they are a hoot.They are a tight knit group and just what Hattie needs in her life.

This is a delightful story filled with romance, intrigue and a whole cast of entertaining characters. Although, I have to admit, I was a little disappointed there wasn’t an epilogue because KA’s epilogues are epic and my favorite part of the book. That said, I still loved this exhilarating, rollicking story and I’m sure you will too.

Hattie knows she wants Axl but giving into that temptation is not on her list of priorities at the moment. She has been through so much and she has faced disappointments in her life. Trying to think she has a real shot with Axl is too much for her to dream. Yet, she is force to face off with him as she needs his help to ward off a stalker.

Axl is former military guy. He is the kind of hero that Hattie needs. He is strong, caring and ready to make her his woman. I loved how he treated her. Yes, he has to be my favorite hero of the series so far.

I have had my ups and down with this series but I did enjoy this one the best out of the series so far. Yes, it is very triggering. I really dislike all the abuse Hattie had went through but Axl is the man. Oh my!

Hattie really had to work on her confidence throughout the story. It kept throwing up roadblocks but Axl handles that quickly. There is a lot of angst in this story and the action picks up with the weird creepy stalker. Axl is more than ready to protect the woman he loves. I just can’t help feeling gushy when I think of him.

Outside of the stalker situation, I really disliked Hattie’s father. The abuse that he inflicted upon her is just horrible. She is so weary of men because of his behavior and rightfully so. I’m glad she got the man to help her back to loving herself.

Now I really am looking forward to going back and reading through Ms. Ashley’s catalog. Fans of sweet contemporary romances will love this one. Now I’m left wondering whose story is next.

I was so excited when Kristen Ashley first teased this series in 2019, and having now read three of the books, I can say it was worth the wait and the hype. I absolutely loved her Dream Man series, and it appears often in my KA reread rotation. Hawk Delgado’s commandos were always these interesting, elusive guys popping up when everyone needed them most. I wanted to know more about them then, and it’s been fantastic getting to know them now.
The Dream Team series is KA’s newest series and focuses on characters who’ve really only been alluded to in her previous books and series. KA readers often wax poetic about “old school KA,” a reference to her early writings which are widely viewed as some of the greatest contemporary romances of our time. This is a contentious issue among diehard KA fans, and for me personally, I think she has done a great job sating the demands of the old school KA crowd with this series by delivering three stories that have been comfortingly familiar yet still felt brand-spanking-new. In this series, she’s given readers stories that are wonderfully nostalgic but with a fresh spin.
One thing we KA readers can all agree upon is that her stories aren’t just about the hot guy hero. He’s definitely a star, but her heroines get equal billing, and rightfully so. They’re dynamic woman, who don’t just hold their own but give as good as they get in the face of all that alpha-man-hotness. These women are strong, sassy, sexy and smart, and they have a fierce, fearless, fabulous tribe of female friends who define what it means to belong to a sisterhood. I read KA stories just as much for those female-positive friendships as I do for those suspense-filled, swoon-worthy, steamy romances they’re swept up in. In Dream Spinner, KA gives her heroine, Hattie, a solid support system in Smithie’s girls, and their brand of mischief-making, alpha-male-wrangling and sisterhood definitely holds up against that of the Rock Chicks or the Chaos old ladies – who make appearances and welcome the strippers into the Denver-based sisterhood fold.
Axl and Hattie each come to the table with their own full plate of issues. Hattie, a ballerina turned stripper, is more than just shy. She’s a survivor of verbal, mental and physical abuse, and in an attempt to conceal that, she uses her shyness as a cloak. Axl’s one of Hawk’s commandos. Former military, he’s got his own parental problems with a deeply critical, narcissistic father. Axl wants Hattie bad, and he’s made that plain, and Hattie wants him just as bad but she is so wrapped up in the mental turmoil of self-doubt and her perceived unworthiness that she just can’t allow herself to have him. It was positively heartbreaking to witness this woman’s pain, but let me tell you, it was a glorious balm to that pain watching this woman come into her own. When she finally was ready for Axl, it was her turn to do the work, and she definitely put in the effort. Once they crossed that bridge, they were both all-in, hand-in-hand, healing their hurts and hearts and building a beautiful life together. There was just that one pesky stalker to deal with first, though…
Unquestionably, KA is an OG romance author—her alpha-males, her heroines, their suspensefully gripping, emotional love stories and those soul-enriching friendships have inspired countless others who have followed in this author’s footsteps. Dream Spinner was everything I love about Kristen Ashley’s brand of romance, and then some. A shy, somewhat broken heroine finding her voice, and a protective, caring alpha male in a love story full of feels and fire and wrapped up in a hair-raising suspense plot is the literary equivalent of catnip for me. I practically inhaled this book, loving every single second of it as I got lost in this world and these characters and their stories. I didn’t want to put it down, I didn’t want it to end, and I’m ready and waiting for the next book, sadly the final book, in the series. Another top favorite of the year from this author, Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley gets five smooches from me!

Hattie Yates is a vastly talented dancer and artist, and yet her self-esteem suffers from a negativity that is always brought on her by her father. And while she can finally admit to herself that she yearns for the intense and sexy commando, Axl Pantera, Hattie also knows that she already blew any chance at a relationship with him. Which might just be news to Axl...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dream Spinner was another incredibly sexy and entertaining read in the engaging, Dream Team series! Hattie and Axl's relationship seemed like it would never be anything more than unfulfilled desire between them, but when Hattie start getting attention from a stalker, the protective alpha is waiting for Hattie to decide who she really needs in her corner...
Hattie is one of the star dancers at the new Smithie's Revue, and like most of the ladies who work at Smithies, she finds herself in a little trouble. Axl is totally into Hattie, but she messed it up between them, big time. And while it takes a lot for a shy girl like Hattie to put herself out there, she knows Axl would be a man worth trying for...
I really enjoyed the plot of this book, and I loved the hot and spicy connection that Hattie and Axl immediately find. And while I adore this series and the group of characters it follows, there are some aspects of this story that just didn't work for me.
This book had some slight suspense, a continuing storyline from the ongoing Dream Team series, lots of character cameos, and of course, a sexy alpha protecting the woman he loves...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Dream Team series are my favorite by Kristen Ashley. I love her books and these leading ladies in this series know how to keep it real. They may need some rescuing, but its the leading men in their lives that need the saving.
This book follows Hattie and Axl. Hattie runs away and Axl usually does the chasing. Until now. Its Hatties choice to go after what she wants, but with her past looming, it just makes it that much harder for her to accept she is enough! Axl is just delicious. I love him more that we get the 411 on this guy. He is so sweet and yet all Alpha male.
Dream Spinner has a suspenseful edge, chemistry topper, and a group of characters that truly look out for each other. I am so ready for the next book! #2021BookRec
Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley is a very enjoyable book. I somehow missed book two in the series, Dream Chaser, but I enjoyed book one Dream Maker./ The books work well as stand-alones although there are a ton of characters who are likely more easily remembered and understood if you read the other books and Ashley's other series especially Rock Chicks.
Hattie isn't just a great stripper. She's got great skills in choreography and is a talented sculpture artist. She's also a really sweet and likable person. When a stalker starts contacting her Axl is more than willing to use his military and civilian special ops skills to help her. He's wanted her for a long time. He hopes that he can also crack her seemingly impenetrable shell.
Axl is such a good guy and so patient with Hattie. Hattie is too kind to the extent of putting her needs aside to help her diabetic and verbally abusive father every day. He constantly degrades her and reminds her that she failed as a ballerina. He also is quite clear in his disdain for her stripping. Now she lacks the confidence to share her art with anyone.
Axl provide Hattie the support to realize she needs to and can make serious changes in her life and with the interaction with her father. He's just awesomely supportive while being sexy as heck.
I have to admit, I found the stalker storyline a bit disjointed and when the scope of the problem expanded I was really lost (perhaps for not having read the other books). This was a small part of the overall story and didn't detract much from my enjoyment of Axl and Hattie's long road to love.
Thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC.
3.5-3.75 stars. This was a pretty good book. Dream Spinner is book three in the Dream Team series and is Hattie and Axl's book. We were introduced to these guys in previous books in the series. Axl is one of Hawk's commandos and Hattie is a dancer at Smithie's and an artist. Their two friend groups have started dating each other. These two have been attracted to each other and Axl has asked Hattie out many times. But she has told him no every time. She has some self esteem issues and a bit of baggage. But when she begins receiving creepy messages, Axl steps in and shows her that she needs him and how good they are together.
I enjoyed this book in general. I liked Hattie and Axl together. I do think the book suffered from pacing issues. The first 25% was the best part and the rest was like an extended epilogue as they handled family problems. But the relationship development was really good. I was happy to see the couple finally work out their issues and come together for their HEA. Just a note that gay porn is talked about a lot and that is not my cup of tea. I wish KA understood that and didn't try to insert it into every book.
Overall, though, Dream Spinner is a cute and fun, easy read with a dash of suspense and some personal angst. Axl and Hattie were a sweet couple and I was happy for the way their relationship developed. I am a fan of this series and am really looking forward to the last couple's book.
Dream Spinner is the third title in the Dream Team series featuring Hattie and Axl. Their story is not only steamy and emotional but has his fair share of drama and moments of sweetness that’s sure to have you swooning.
Hattie is a talented dancer and artist, who struggles to recognizer her own worth. She’s has her fair share of vulnerabilities and insecurities that make her all the more relatable. Hattie is an intriguing character who despite a traumatic past, and being emotionally scarred and shy, she’s has an underlying strength, resilience, and drive.
Axl is a protective alpha, who has the tendency to be a bit of an ass. His redeemable qualities are that he’s patient, caring, driven, playful, supportive and straightforward, and not afraid to tell it like it is.
I loved the cameos of characters from several past series including the Rock Chicks, Dream Man, Unfinished Hero and Chaos. An engaging story of healing, hope, love, friendship and family, with elements of mystery, intrigue and suspense that has left me eager for Auggie and Pepper’s story.
Thank you @foreverpub and @netgalley for the #gifted copy of this book in exchange of my honest review! This book hits the shelves and will be available for grabs toMorrow, May 25, 2021
Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley is the third book in the Dream Team series and even though I haven’t read the first two books, I was able to grasp this book. They can be totally read as stand alone books
Just this part of the synopsis sucked me into the book ‘two damaged souls must overcome the pain of their pasts to have the love they've always dreamed of’ and it totally lived up to my expectations!
I really enjoyed, how Axl and Hattie came to terms with the reality of their relationship and worked towards making it better and stronger! Axl was such a caring and loving friend who helped Hattie come out of her comfort zone!
This story was told from 2 POV and all the side characters were lovable too. I would definitely pick up KA’s Dream Team book 1 and 2 from the series!
This series is quite good, Hattie is a very interesting character, a ballerina, and we get Axl a character that will have to swim against everything to get inside Hattie's barriers, but Axl has been a very difficult character and one I really wanted to read about. The story was very emotional with some very steamy scenes and a good plot, however it wasn't my favorite of the series and I think some aspects of the story should've been written in a bit more depth. Still can't wait to read Pepper's story.
