An adventurous start to a new series!

Parker Buckman is out with his friends in the Everglades when he is attacked by a gator and injures his arm. Parker faces troubles with a bully, friendship troubles and the search for a missing girl, will it bring them closer together or tear them apart?

An action packed read for teens about the son of a park ranger and his group of friends as they face the danger of the Everglades and growing up. I liked that Parker and his father have a good relationship and that he works hard to keep his father's trust. There is a lot going on, lessons about friendship, faith, and relationships.

Overall, a good choice for teens looking for a book filled with adventure, faith, and themes of growing up. Definitely suspenseful and intense, it will be fun to see what happens next!

The first chapter of this book sets the pace and tone for the entire ride. Wilson Parker’s friends decides to feed a monster gator chunks of french bread as Parker’s other friend, Jelly takes the picture of a life time. For Parker that was when the nightmare begins and for the reader the suspense and ride begins! Escape from the Everglades grabs you from the first chapter and never lets go similar to the monster gator does to Parker.
Hand this fast paced book to any teenager who loves a great adventure and suspenseful tale. The characters are believable and the way Tim Shoemaker writes puts the reader in the middle of the adventure as well as rooting for the characters to claim a victory over the swamp and the evil characters that lurk in the swamp.
I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Tyndale House Publishers , in exchange for an honest review.

A nicely written thriller featuring three teens who live in the Everglades in Southern Florida. They are close friends, but each is at a different point in their journey of faith. They challenge each other - both for good and bad - as they search for the older sister of one of the teens, but each of them does grow in the process.

Focus On The Family suggests the book is aimed at a 9–15-year-old audience. Given the amount of graphic violence and the issues discussed, this reviewer would suggest that the book is better aimed at a 15-year-old to adult audience. The reader will be drawn in and will not want to put the book down till the final chapter is finished.

Apart from the violence, this reader was reminded of the Hardy Boys adventures from the 1950’s and early 60’s. I would like to see sequels written - maybe in Boston (where two of the friends are moving) and. later, in whatever college town they choose to attend. I give the book four-stars.

A fantastic thriller for young adults that is fierce, gripping, and full of more suspense and less fluff, making for a wonderful read!

Parker Buckman is the son of a park ranger stationed in the Everglades, a place full of danger both in the water and out of it. When Parker ends up mauled by an alligator and almost dies, he can’t help but see it as a place full of death. The only thing he wants is to get out while he still has a chance. His dad puts in for a transfer, but before they can leave, a friend goes missing. Parker knows can’t leave until he helps find her. Together with his friends, they search high and low throughout the Everglades and discover alligators aren’t the only monsters they are facing.

The first thing I have to say about this book is WOW!! There was so much suspense and action I felt like I was getting a workout as my heart rate got high at times. I loved the action and suspense, especially for a young adult. The next thing that made it such a great read for me was the fact that it was clean, there was no language, it never got too graphic and I will feel completely comfortable letting my eleven-year-old son read this one. So many young adult novels out there are filled with content that I just don’t feel comfortable exposing my kids to. I am grateful for authors that have figured out how to write a great thriller for young adults without filling it with language or content I wouldn’t approve of them reading. This was definitely an adventurous read with the alligator attacks and drama on land. Both boys and girls will love this one I believe, something there for everyone to enjoy. I recommend this to readers that enjoy a high suspense read with very little fluff to fill the pages, great characters and a storyline that is riveting.

Keep your arms in the boat, you are in for a wild ride with Escape from the Everglades. Join Parker Buckman, Park Ranger son, and friends as they navigate life in the Everglades. Life isn't safe with monster gators everywhere but as Parker learns to follow God and live life with Integrity, we are given a front row seat. This book is filled with adventure. It also guides these young adventurers through making right (and sometimes wrong) choices in friends, keeping secrets, and obeying our parents.
I agree with the rating of teen/YA. There is a lot of talk about the Glades being cursed, in the end this relates back to knowing God is bigger than anything.
