This is such a fun read!

First the format in which the "story" is told is very different.

The reader picks the character for the story, their clothes, their settings and path in space amongst other things to chalk out a story in space

There are so many conversation starters that one can have with kids with this book. At the end the kid ends up with their unique story about space

What I love about this book
1) The space background is a great pull for children who love everything about planets, space, rockets, etc
2) This is not just another book with space topic. It is very different. The format especially makes it super unique
3) Every time the story you create can be a new one! You can choose from the plethora of options that the author gives and weave a unique story everytime

I wish to get a physical copy of this book for our family!

I have just reviewed the Fairy Tales edition of this book and much of that review will apply here. These books are fantastic. They encourage imagination, discussion and creativity and are a joy to look at. I expect fans of the You Choose series by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt will love these books.

First of all, let me say that I love all the titles by this author. These books are so amazing for kids that I just want to be a kid again when I read them! My children absolutely loved them too.

There are so many choices to make and so many adventures to go on! It’s amazing.

The space adventure is full of vibrant and lovely illustrations as well as cool and unique choices. This book is really great for teaching children creative writing and expanding their imagination.
The best part is that you can go on a completely different adventure every time.

Definitely a wonderful book to build up your children’s imagination!

Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for providing me a copy of the book for an honest review.

I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

Okay, I might be prejudiced, but I absolutely love books like this, and loved the past two books by this author as well! I think they are so fun, and love the idea of children choosing their own story to tell. I also think this can be a GREAT tool for teachers, both when reading for their pupils but also for them to use when writing their own fiction stories! This provides great framework for writing a story! I will use books like these so much when I'm done with my master's and can go out into schools!

The book has so many different paths, so that every child may find something that interests them! And the rep is good! Like, you could choose to be a princess, but she also has a jetpack, a mustache, and a cloak.

This is a book that encourages children to use their imaginations as they make up their own stories. Each vibrantly colored two page spread has choices. For example, who do you want to be? Some of the many options include a robot, a genius, an artist or a scientist. Next, children can choose a wardrobe for their character and decide where they want to go. It could be to the man on the moon, Jupiter or more. And so it goes from there with a chance to choose what to bring on the journey which could include things or people. There are a number of other entries as well culminating in choosing an ending for the tale.

I find this book to be very appealing. Sit down with this and a child you know. See if they like being in charge of their story and telling it. I bet that they will.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Remember the Choose Your Own Adventure books? This is an updated and far-out version with lots of fun and wonderful illustrations and basic directions to fuel the imagination! It's kind of a never ending story because you can go back and design a whole new adventure over and over again. Loved it!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions via NetGalley. Thank you!

So I had the opportunity to test drive a new kids book before it is published in March.

It is called 'Let's tell a story: Space Adventure' by Lily Murray.

It fits our current space theme perfectly and is in the same vein as the You Choose books. However, I felt it took this style and improved it as it encouraged the kids to have more of a storyline running through. Button(7), Bear(3) and especially Buttercup(3) loved this book on first reading tonight. They really got into it and were laughing and being imaginative which was great to see.

I can definitely see us looking to buy this once it is published.

Review is on my Instagram:

I will also include it on our website when we write up our current space theme (in 2-3 weeks time) on www.teachingmumanddad.co.uk

Let's Tell A Story: Space Adventure encourages children to create their own story based on their choices from the fully illustrated book. It asks children to choose who their character is, their clothing, where they will go, etc. The illustrations are stunning and a lot of fun. I do wish it was a little longer though, with perhaps more adventures. There seems to be more focus on planning for the adventure than taking the adventure. All around, a very fun book to inspire kids to write their own adventure story.

Thank you Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

This confused me a little, until I managed to find proof I was not seeing things. These books used to be called the 'You're the Hero' series, and the same creator had a pirate one and a jungle one, and they used to be with a different imprint in the same publishing house. The powers that be have changed the title to 'Let's Tell a Story', and moved them across the corridor – and to actually make any of this sound at all important it might be said that the new series title is a better fit. Previously they may have sounded like 'choose your own adventure' dramas, when what these books are are templates for our own imaginations. Here, as before, we get copious double-paged spreads, and options to choose from – what do we want our astronaut to look like, to wear, to travel in, and with whom, and so on – and before long we've made one of many millions of hard-to-repeat stories. I don't remember the extra prompts that urge us to go so much further than the blatant box-ticking of the pages here, to fill our story out with description and dialogue, but either way, these books show how stories are constructed, and how simple choices when we have an imagination cannot help but have an impact on our own writing. And that if all else fails, introduce a flying strawberry.
