Started with a bang. One of the wives of the book is in the hospital, then the book goes back in time through the events that led to that point. I was invested and entertained until about 50%. The overall pace of the book is fast and it’s a short book. This is a book in the genre of rich people behaving badly. I wanted more of the opulence of the rich lifestyle. All three leading ladies of this book have secrets. Unfortunately when they were revealed I wasn’t shocked. Was Georgia a murderer? What happened in Brooke’s past? These questions are answered and some readers might think it’s twisty. This wasn’t anything new but was a fast, fun read for a quick escape from current reality. Wish the author had spent a little more time developing the characters.

Thank you. NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the ARC.

This book reads like a juicy soap opera. There are enough twists and turns to keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning.

3 stars

This book is over-the-top in every way, and it will serve as a fun, campy beach read for many this summer.

Three characters alternate perspectives, but they are all living similar lives: extremely privileged housewives in an ultra expensive part of San Francisco. It's easy to have low expectations of them at the start, but they are all worse than readers might initially imagine. Their respective partners, bosses, and counterparts in other aspects of life are also all horrible people (with one minor exception, but this character might just be too clueless to be evil).

While I found the outrageousness of this novel amusing, I wish there were more substance and/or surprise. Overall, this felt very predictable and less thrilling than I had hoped.

Prospective readers who are looking for something campy, out there, and quick will enjoy this.

"The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives" was truly absurd, but I couldn't put it down. Brooke and her wealthy (and older) husband Jack have just moved to an exclusive neighborhood, and in quick order, Brooke has befriended Erin (married to a plastic surgeon) and Georgia, the Black Widow. Georgia's previous two husbands have died within two years of being married to her--and, she is about to marry for a third time.

Brooke, a novelist, knows that Georgia is hiding something--but is she hiding something too?

Honestly, there were quite a few plot holes, and I really could not get a handle on Georgia. Her behavior was bizarre throughout. Even when I finished the book I couldn't really make sense of it. And Erin...she blew her entire life up because she was jealous of Brooke, but then immediately befriended her.

All of the women have strange or strained relationships--More money, more marital problems?

Kristin Miller's The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a propulsive thriller that will keep readers guessing and is pitch perfect for the summer. When Brooke moves into Presidio Terrace, she gets more than just manicured lawns and neighborhood by-laws. She is swept up into a world of riches and intrigue, as one of her neighbors is known as the "Black Widow," as her dead husbands can tell no tales. What follows is a delightfully wicked and engaging story of friendships and frenemies that will keep readers guessing.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

I really wanted to like this book, but it was kind of a mess. The 3 trophy wives are really unlikable and the whole plot seemed so completely unrealistic, it was all over the place It left me with so many questions, and I would not recommend this to anyone. I really hate giving bad reviews, but the only good thing I can say is that I did finish the entire thing.

I really wanted to like this one but just couldn’t get into it. The writing style was too sparse for me, making the story and especially the dialogue unbelievable. Such a promising concept for an amazing beach read, but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me.

Great for a quick, juicy, beach read! I loved the three over-the-top "desperate housewives" style characters (seriously, who hasn't dreamed of storming out of their job and quitting?) and the drama that followed them around.

I really loved that the book makes it seem like Georgia has come into her nickname completely by accident. But really, when you off 2 husbands, the nickname is totally earned. And Erin....oh Erin. I laughed out loud when she stormed off the set and quit. But come on - stand up for yourself with Mason. He's a douche. Treat him as such. And Brooke - all along the book had me thinking you were some mousy little wife who writes books on the side. Turns out you're the most devious of all, doesn't it?

Again, loved this! Perfect quick and juicy beach read. I'll definitely be recommending this book to others!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I saw the reviews and crossed my fingers and my wish came true. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. It’s a cross between Wisteria Lane and The Real Housewife’s with a dash of daytime drama. This is what I call the perfect beach read. It’s face paced, totally keeps your attention. It’s a little far fetched with some murder mystery in there as well. I have to be honest, I thought I had it figured out but I did not. I have been in a reading slump but this one pulled me out. Looking forward to this authors future books.

The sinful lives of trophy wives, reminds me of those 70’s books by Suzanne Collins. Rich wives who believe that whatever they need to do to stay rich, beautiful and happy, they have the right to do. The rich husbands are always unfaithful and self involved. This will be your beach read

Moving to the exclusive gated community only to find that her next door neighbor, Georgia (aka the Black Widow) has been accused on murdering not one, but two of her husbands; Brooke is fascinated with how "normal" Georgia appears to be. Quickly being introduced to Erin; Georgia's BFF, Brooke finds forming a close relationship with these women whose company she appreciates since her new husband, Jack spends so much time away from home on business. A writer of murder mysteries, Brooke is finding that her writer's block is dissolving as she weaves these real life women into characters in her latest book. As rumors and intrigue start to pile up, these women all make decisions that will forever alter their lives. Kristen Miller keeps the pages turning as we delve deeper into the hidden pasts which drive these women to extreme acts. Plot twists and suspicious characters abound, but who is really telling the truth?

When I think of a trophy wife, I think of women who don’t have paid work. Two of the three women in this novel have jobs—one is a novelist and one is a TV reporter. The third woman is about to marry her third husband. People call her the Black Widow because her first two husbands died under mysterious circumstances.

This novel had some fun mystery to it. It’s definitely a fast read, but there was something about the way the truth was unraveled that just didn’t quite deliver for me.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book, which RELEASES JULY 20, 2021.

This is a fun, perfect-for-a-beach-read thriller! This Desparate Housewives-esque community of upper crust women is hiding the perfect secret. Will you be able to figure it out? I love books where I get sucked in to the trials and tribulations of those with more money than I will ever have! Is Georgia St. Claire a black widow... or is something else happening here? Read to discover! Thank you to NetGalley and to Random House for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley, Kristin Miller and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine for the ARC of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives. This is my personal review.
Georgia St. Claire, Erin King and Brooke Davies take us into their perfect on the surface lives and then we get to see what is behind the curtains of their lives! This book gives you a change to indulge in your secret addiction of reading a juicy slightly trashy novel.
I enjoy a book that takes me into a world where people are not what they seem to be. This is one of those books you tuck in your beach bag and spend the day reading for pure enjoyment.

I should have known from the title what I was getting myself into. I have to say, I really didn't like any of the main characters. I guess maybe that is to be expected considering they are 'trophy' wives and are pretty full of themselves and one dimensional.

With that said, this book really held my interest because the author weaves the storyline with great ease and I needed to find out what happened. And you know that something juicy is going to be leaked, and it sure was.

A really enjoyable read!

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is just as fun as its title implies. Author Kristin Miller does a wonderful job weaving a delectable, if outlandish, plot around a cadre of mostly-unlikable characters. In less competent hands, this novel would've gone off the rails, either with the plot crossing into over-the-top terrain, or with the often one-note characters being unreadable caricatures (or both), but Miller manages to tread the fine line between juicy, unputdownable drama and 'ugh'-inducing melodrama. I think pacing may be her strongest strength here, as the novel continually ramps up throughout, culminating in a bomb being dropped. There's no point where I felt I needed to skim through writerly flourishes, as the details here are deftly doled out, only when needed. I agree with several of the other reviewers, who have said it needs to be adapted-- this is the Desperate Housewives of the 2020's!

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller was a solid page-turning gem of a thriller that I just loved. I love a thriller where I just cannot read fast enough because I need to know what happened, and this was so very much that. This is the story of three women in an upscale neighborhood: There's Brooke, the new neighbor who is an author married to a billionaire and 20 years her senior, Erin, a local news anchor, who walks out on her job as a way to jumpstart her career and prove her worth, and Georgia, who is known around town as the Black Widow after her two previous husbands died in what seem to be mysterious circumstances to some. And then, AND THEN, Georgia's third husband dies. Everyone seems to be holding onto secrets, and everyone also seems determined to find out what everyone else is hiding - while also pretending to be besties, of course. The thrills within this one were just so, so good y'all, so I don't want to give you too much plot because the ride from beginning to end is so great! Thanks to NetGalley for the early look at this October 2021 (I'm so bummed y'all have to wait so long to read this) release!
