This was a delicious read that kept me guessing to the very end! I enjoyed every twist and turn immensely and could not put this down. I’ll have to check out some more of the author’s other books, this one was fun and oh-so-twisty! Brooke, Georgia, and Erin were done marvelously and the other characters perfect foils to them. I can’t wait to read more from the author! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my free arc in exchange for my honest opinion. It was a wonderful ride!

THE SINFUL LIVES OF TROPHY WIVES
BY KRISTEN MILLER

I came back a day later to update my previous review because after thinking long and hard I came to the decision that I wasn't fair to this Author, Kristin Miller, who wrote a suspenseful novel about a Black Widow named, Georgia Jane Coventry-Dalton-St Claire. Her previous two husbands named, Eli, who was her first husband who supposedly died from a slip and fall; Tumbling to his death down a flight of stairs to his death, which seems like a suspicious way for Eli to meet his end of his life. Georgia's second husband named, Andrew supposedly shot himself resulting in a suicide which also seems questionable considering that a pattern is starting to develop.

I would say that my biggest takeaway from this contemporary novel is a sneak peek in how the top one percent live. Georgia maintains her innocence and so far she has said her first two husbands died from their own unlucky fate. Were these deaths really an accident and a suicide? Or were both of Georgia's two previous husband's untimely death's have something to do with Georgia's involvement? That dear reader is something you will learn by deciding to buy this book and read it. This takes place in a gated community, called Presidio Place in San Francisco. This plotting was just over the top for me to take seriously. I thought it wasn't really realistic for me to get to invested in the characterization. Maybe you will like this more than I did. One wife, named Brooke is a writer of fiction who takes some cues from Georgia's crazy life which she inserts into the novel she is presently crafting. Brooke has just moved into this multi-million dollar estates where the rules are strict from the homeowner's association. There are rules as to how high the grass can be, how long the vehicle's can remain parked in their driveways or in front of their mansion's because the rules say that the mode of transportation must be parked in their garages. Georgia is going to soon marry husband number three. I am grateful that "The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives," was a short and quick read.
I suppose that it would seem that way after just finishing an epic and wonderful immersive historical novel at a whopping 608 pages.

Brooke's husband Jack is the earner in the duo that affords them the means as to living in this very prestigious neighborhood. Jack tells Brooke that she needs to stay away from Georgia and her best friend Erin, who is another trophy wife. Erin is unhappily married to her husband Mason and they are seeking couple's therapy. Jack tells Brooke that Georgia and Erin are bad news.

This actually is a better read than I initially thought so I bumped up my rating from three to four stars. As I am reiterating here this was a super fast and quick read and can be read in one sitting in a matter of a few hour's. If this kind of mystery sounds like something that would interest you I would advise Pre-ordering your copy today. That way you will have it in your inbox on the day that it hits publication. It really was enticing to wonder about Georgia's culpability in her previous two husband's demise. The descriptions of the homes sound quite elaborate. I have changed my mind and I would recommend this if this genre appeals to you. I wanted to be fair to this Author and not compare it to Maggie Shipstead's fabulous five star historical novel. You will need to make a real commitment in time if you decide to read, "GREAT CIRCLE," which is a favorite for 2021, if not of all time. I do hope that you enjoy this if you decide that this is something that you would be interested in. You can always utilize your library to get a copy of this if your library has it. The State Library where you live probably would most likely to have copies of this. Enjoy!

This was wickedly delightful to read.

I loved the twists, the hint of evil, and the self-centered characters with their privilege and obsession with perfection. They were desperate to appear to the world as if they lived charmed lives but underneath there was rot, jealousy and extremely loose morals. I went from liking to loathing to liking the three main characters. There was never a dull moment reading this. Lots of tension, comedy and glamor.

Sit by the pool, on your deck or the beach and let yourself be transported to the rich and shallow world of Presidio Terrace, were everyone is dying to live!

I really enjoyed this book. It had viewpoints from different characters, which always makes it interesting. I thought the twist at the end was unexpected and I would definitely recommend reading this. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this.

Oh this was DELIGHTFUL! I'm not one that tries to figure out who did it or where the story is going to go, I just like to be taken for a ride and whew, what a ride this was! So many twists and turns and STILL I feel like we should get a sequel because there's a lot to unpack with Brooke and her creepy husband. Really, really enjoyed this one!

This book did not go in the direction I assumed it would! It was sooooo good and the title is amazing.. if this becomes a sequel book I will read it. This was so entertaining

If you enjoy juicy, soap opera like books, then you will love this. I was definitely sucked in immediately and it was hard to put down. The twist at the end was the reason for one less star from me. On one hand, I saw it coming but it was a still a little too out there for me.

This one was loads of fun! Brooke and her husband Jack move to a new house in an exclusive neighborhood, where she becomes fast friends with newscaster Erin and Georgia, whose two previous husbands died under mysterious circumstances. That’s the setting for The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives, and the book certainly lives up to its title. Thoroughly enjoyed this read, with dark humor and acerbic, witty dialogue, a killer plot, and great characters. You should dive into this one, highly entertaining and definitely recommended. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I did end up enjoying this book when it got to the plot twist in the end, but as I was reading it I just wasn’t hooked! There was something about the way the reveals were done, instead of it being a wow moment, you were like “wait what did I just read?” I also thought the plot summary and what actually happened didn’t match. Based on the summary I was expecting Brooke’s husband to be an abusive psychopath, and instead he’s just a workaholic who wants his life to be perfect? I would say this book kept me engaged, but didn’t keep me up at night to finish it

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is a fun, rollercoaster guilty pleasure read. The book focuses on three housewives who live in a prestigious, gated neighborhood outside of San Francisco. The characters are: Erin, a news anchor married to a successful plastic surgeon; Brooke, a writer with a mysterious past married to a tech billionaire; and Georgia, the “Black Widow” who has two rich, dead husbands and is engaged to a wealthy man. The three women become friends and we learn more about the problems in their marriages and lives. The story reads quickly and is action-packed, but the characters lacked depth and the story was pretty far-fetched. Overall, this is a great choice for a beach read of if you’re looking to escape for a few hours.

Thank you Ballantine Books / Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

This book was a rollercoaster! It kept me on the edge of my seat.
If you liked to watch Desperate Housewives then you’ll definitely like this book.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives tells the story of Brooke, Erin and Georgia, rich wives who seemingly have it all. Including deadly secrets. Once their paths cross, the drama starts!

This book went in a completely different direction than what I assumed when I first started reading it, but I say that in a good way. I kept getting caught off guard with plot twist after plot twist that kept leaving me screaming “what??!!” at least 10 times while reading this!
I also appreciated how fast paced this was from the moment I started reading it. It wasn’t dragging on, it was straight to the point which kept me wanting to keep reading. I was so interested that I couldn’t help but finish it in two sittings.
Ill admit it was a bit over the top dramatic but honestly its no less than what I expected from rich housewives especially after being a huge fan of the housewives tv shows.
As much as I enjoyed this book however I do feel that I did have a lot of questions throughout the story that weren’t necessarily all answered by the end. It didn’t affect the story line but I was still left wondering in the end.
I still would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick read thriller!!

Georgia knows how to choose a man, a man with the deepest pockets that is. Georgia has been married twice and both of her millionaire husbands have turned up dead, possibly suspicious, thus earning her the nickname Black Widow. Georgia is definitely a trophy wife, who runs an exclusive neighborhood with her fellow trophy wife, Erin. When Brooke moves into the neighborhood, she doesn’t quite know how to take the ladies but becomes fast friends with the pair. Perfect timing! Georgia’s fiancé, another multi-millionaire, disappears from their exclusive engagement party on their yacht. Will it be a coincidence or has the Black Widow struck again?
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I could not put this book down! I was rooting for Georgia to outlive her reputation while I also secretly hated Erin’s character at the same time. The book was a quick read for me and I actually would not have minded if it were a little longer. I expected there to be more cattiness between the women. I loved it either way and did not expect the twist at the end. It would make a great book club read!

THANK YOU Kristin Miller, Ballantine Books- Random House, and Netgalley for this awesome ARC!

A group of well to do women that are have well to do husbands.
But make no mistake. There’s always a better more well to do man than they have at the moment for one or two of the ladies.

I loved this book! Great mystery and unexpected twists until the very end! My favorite net galley read so far!

As soon as I saw the title of the book "The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives" I had to read it. I mean, that is a DELICIOUS title... and I'm not even one of those "Real Housewives" TV watchers!

By and large the book lived up to its title, bringing to mind deviousness, twists and turns and general naughtiness. I wasn't overly surprised by the ending but that is okay.. that wasn't really my goal with this one.

A good beach read. I give it 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a galley edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Money does not always buy you happiness! Just ask the women who live within the walls of Presidio Terrace a gated and most elite community in San Francisco.

Brooke – newly married to her husband who is about 20 years her senior. She is a novelist though nobody takes her too seriously.

She has a way of hiding in plain sight.

She is the newest wife on the block and instantly takes to Georgia and Erin

Georgia – we can just call her the black widow. Two of her husbands have recently passed due to tragic circumstances. She is now engaged to fiancé number three. Will he survive till the epilogue?

Erin – Newscaster for the local TV station. She has a meltdown and walks away from her job. She wants to live Brooke’s seemingly simple life of a trophy wife.

But do we really know what goes on behind closed doors?

This is a very fast-paced easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. There are some great twists at the end that completely shocked me!

If you are looking for something lite and would be a fun beach read! This is it! Happy reading!

A buddy read with Susanne!

The first half of this book was amazing. Like I was so caught up in the twisted lives of these three women. It was on the road to a four or five star review. My main complaint was that I sometimes had a hard time telling one character from the other. Well they had significantly different things going on in their lives, their voices were very similar.

But then the second half of the book hit… And it just got weird. Some of the things characters said, did, and thought, were in complete opposition to things they said and did in the first half of the book. The plot took lots of wild turns, but they seemed almost random. Things that happened early in the book felt like cheap plot devices to cause motivation in the second half of the book. In the end, I found myself skipping chapters just to get it done.

It is still a fun read. Definitely a guilty pleasure type of read. I would consider reading something else by this author in the future. But I just feel like this book could have been a better done/cleaned up in editing.

A delightfully devious journey into a gated community. Everyone here is putting on airs, so who really knows what is truth? And who will survive the fallout. Who are your true friends when you keep your friends close and your enemies closer? A fun, fast paced early read from NetGalley!

The trophy wives in question are Georgia, Erin, and Brooke. Brooke is the new resident of Presidio Terrace, an exclusive ultra-rich gated community in San Francisco where many rich entrepreneurial men and their young wives happen to live. Brooke is married to a secretive and controlling billionaire, and she develops a fascination with Georgia, who is nicknamed the “Black Widow” because her two previous husbands have died under mysterious circumstances.

This book was a little old-fashioned — there are rich female entrepreneurs in SF, too, of course! — but it is clearly meant to be a kitschy, dishy throwback to the soapy dramas of the 80s like Dallas or Falcon Crest in which the young trophy wives run amuck while the businessmen do their business. There’s plenty of rich people fun in lavish homes and on yachts. When Black Widow Georgia’s latest fiancée disappears, TV journalist Erin and mystery writer Brooke are drawn into the mystery. Is Georgia actually a multiple man-murderer for money or is something else sinister at play? Also, why is there something wrong with all these women’s’ husbands?

This book is over the top outrageous and not at all realistic, especially the end, but that’s the whole fun of it. This is a well-written and enjoyable scandalous summer beach read that will provide you with escapist fun and entertaining hijinks. Recommended rich-people entertainment!

Thanks to Random House, NetGalley abd the author for the ARC!
