I mean, the title of this book alone is enough to draw you in. The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives was a delight to read.

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That was an unexpected surprise!

Things aren’t as pristine as they seem in Presidio Terrace - the most exclusive neighborhood in San Francisco.

Georgia - labeled the “Black Widow” in the neighborhood and the press due to two dead husbands, mystery writer Brooke Davies - new trophy wife on the block, and Erin - famous news anchor, are harboring lots of secrets. Don’t let the ladies in this untrustworthy trio fool you. They may seem sugary sweet, but none of them is very likable!

When tragedy strikes, the chatter and gossip mill fly into a frenzy and everyone is thinking...has Georgia done it again?

Soapy and juicy with a Real Housewives vibe, I really liked this one. The alternating POV’s is always a plus for me and the ending was the sugar on top.

Recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House - Ballantine and Kristin Miller for my advanced copy.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Ballentine for allowing me to read this book and post my honest opinion. I am embarrassed that I never posted my review and just realized that I forgot. Maybe that is because I didn't love this book. No one is very likable and the book was pretty slow.

Fans of Desperate Housewives your book is here!

I am not the biggest fan of the rich housewife type of story. The mystery here was pretty good, the inner conflicts between the group was fun, if not a little cliche, and the pacing was on point which made for a fairly enjoyable read. Unfortunately there is just something about the entitled nouveau riche that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a well written and compelling book but it's not for my personal taste. It's one I'd borrow but not buy.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I absolutely love neighborhood dramas! The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a soapy, dramatic thriller centered around the Presidio Terrace, a super wealthy neighborhood in San Francisco.

The book follows 3 POVs, Brooke is the newest to join the block. She just moved to the neighborhood with her much older husband Jack. She meets Erin, a news anchor and the head of the homeowners association who is married to Mason and Georgia, who is known as the “Black Widow”. Her previous two husbands have both passed away in unusual circumstances and she’s engaged to hubby #3, Robert.

When Robert goes missing after a dinner cruise, rumors are flying all around the neighborhood. Did she strike again?

This was a super fun and fast read. It was interesting to see how they pointed fingers at everyone else, but themselves. It’s a little campy, but I enjoyed.

One part that sets this book away from others is that all three don’t have children and they all have impressive careers, except Georgia. This was a fun twist on the housewife drama that we often see in these kind of books.

Thank you so much to @penguinrandomhouse, #ballantinebooks, and @netgalley for my copy of the book.

Brook Davies, a mystery author, is the new wife on the block. Her billionaire husband has moved them to San Francisco, and she immediately befriends Erin King. a news anchor and Georgia St. Claire known as “the black widow” because her previous two husbands both ended up dead. During the weekend of Georgia’s third marriage, the groom to be, Robert goes missing. These three ladies will come together to try to find out what happened to him and to prove Georgia’s innocence.

I love books about gossipy, rich housewives. They’re always a fun read in my opinion. I enjoyed this book and all the twists and turns throughout. I didn’t see a lot of the twists coming and really wasn’t expecting the ending. The characters are a bit over the top, but that’s what makes this story work. I loved to hate these ladies which I’m guessing is what the author, Kristin Miller was going for.

Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine Books for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

✨Book Review✨
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💫
.
I went into this book having no idea what to expect. I would say it was just ok. I liked the characters. I liked how you never knew who to trust. Everyone seemed suspicious in some way. I liked the drama of the neighborhood. I liked the friendships between the women. I read it fast and really kept wanting to pick it back up.
.
However, it was sometimes hard to keep everyone straight. The character development seemed a little surface at times. My biggest complaint was that the ending felt rushed. I think the author could have done more with the twist. I had literally no idea what I was going to rate this, but the ending ultimately left me wanting a little more.
.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it!

Started off a bit slow, but about halfway through you end up completely hooked. The characters aren't always likeable, sometimes they can be annoying, but the story itself ended up pulling me in. Had a good twist in the end.

Brooke marries a wealthy tech guy and moves to a fancy neighborhood. She immediately befriends two women, Georgia and Erin. Georgia is known as the Black Widow because two of her husbands ended up deader than a doornail and she is getting ready to marry #3. Erin is a Tv news anchor and is fighting for her job. Brooke gets to enter their inner circle and learn all the secrets, which are juicy.
So…the beginning of this book was a little cheesy and I thought, “this is a little like a cozy mystery”, which are fine but I like a little more “twist”. Welp, the last 1/4 of the book was just what I wanted and it was a FUN RIDE. Loved this book!

This domestic criminal thriller was great! I didn’t really know what to expect, but this far exceeded my expectations. It also spoke to me on a personal level: a future stay at home cat mom wife. Picture this: smart, talented, and beautiful women with no desire to have children getting justice for themselves and each other.
At first glance, the group of wives seem a little vapid; drinking mimosas for breakfast and getting Botox. But nothing is what it seems and we are taken for a wild ride in terms of twists and turns! I’m also a big fan of some vigilante Robin Hood style justice so this checked that box for me as well. Highly recommend this as a summer must read for a little bit of escapism!

This is a quick and fun read. I think the best approach to this story is to suspend some level of belief and enjoy the ride. It is about a group of extremely wealthy people who live in this neighborhood where everyone is expected to maintain the right look. For instance, the board of the homeowners group might fine you for small infractions that aren’t in line with maintaining the image of perfection, but when a woman who has previously knocked off her previous husbands and is set to marry number three, a billionaire, moves in, now what?
Some of the story is so ridiculous in plot that to best enjoy the story, you just have to go with it.
Made for a fun read.

Imagine you moved next door to a black widow...this is what Brooke has done.

Brooke and her husband move to an exclusive neighborhood where you get fined for leaving your garage door open or having your grass a fraction too high. But the most concerning thing is that her new neighbor is Georgia, the wive who has gotten away with killing both of her husbands, or that is what everyone thinks. Brooke quickly becomes friends with Georgia and her bestie Erin. With Georgia on the eve of her third wedding this start to go array.

Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a fun murder mystery with some very crazy, enjoyable women. This book has twists and turns and you route for the women all the way.

Brooke Davies and her tech billionaire husband move into the prestigious and secure Presidio Terrace neighborhood next door to the rumored black widow, Georgia St. Claire. Georgia is set to marry her third husband, but tragedy strikes again.

I really wanted to like this. There was so much promise with rich women and a true black widow, but the novel just didn’t deliver for me. The characters didn’t seem all that realistic. And the story took some odd twists and turns that didn’t make sense or quite seem to fit for me. Overall it was an interesting story, but it left me with a lot of holes and questions.

These are some of my favorite thrillers. I love completely unhinged people in normal situations. This book was so quick and light and you absolutely loved all three of the main POV's. Desperate housewives in a book that you can absolutely not put down. HIGHLY recommend if you love domestic thrillers.

I'm not usually the type to like reality TV or salacious characters but I was all over this one reaching for the cocktail without taking my eyes off the page. I just found it fun in a wicked kind of way and tried not to let the shallowness of the characters deter me from the twisty drama with playful, almost hilarious dialog. I loved the San Francisco setting as well so that put me right in the story and I could believe these women existed. What was even better was that the ending has a twist that I didn't expect. I was so caught up in the Desperate Housewives framework that I gave little expectation to the actual murderer and in the end was more than happy. This is a fun poolside read that I think I'll try in audio form at some point.

Admittedly, this one wasn’t my favorite. I had a hard time getting into the characters and finishing this one.

I could sit and tell you all the things I loved about this book or you could just go out and get it tomorrow. I was suppose to read this back in July but life got in the way but this is for sure a new author to love for me. This is such a fun read for me. Some people have trouble finding a place to live in San Francisco. Others can walk into the most prestigious gated community and buy a multi-million-dollar house. Presidio Terrace is home to some of the biggest names in the city, like news anchor Erin King and her husband Mason, a plastic surgeon, or the infamous Georgia St. Claire, also known as The Black Widow. And now, it’s also home to mystery novelist Brooke Davies and her tech billionaire husband Jack.
These women in this story are amazing. I felt like I was reading a cross between Desperate House Wives and Devious Maids which I loved. You will find that in this story you will love and hate all these women at least once before the story is over and it will be great.
Brooke is happy with Jack, and she is looking forward to making friends in their new neighborhood. With Jack working so much, she does get lonely. And to be honest, she’s struggling with her second novel. She could use some inspiration to breathe new life into these characters so she can send it off to her publisher.

Georgia has been married twice already. After a little over a year with her first husband when he tumbled down the marble staircase. He didn’t make it. Then her second husband shot himself in his office. There have been rumors that it was Georgia who killed them, but she has always claimed her innocence, and there have been no arrests in their deaths. Now, she is getting ready to marry again, another wealthy man, and she claims that she genuinely loves Robert. She does everything she can to put the “Black Widow” rumors to rest, because she wants to finally find her happily ever after.

But when Robert goes missing after a pre-wedding party on his yacht, Georgia doesn’t know where to turn for help. She call the police to report him missing, but they won’t take an official report until he’s been missing for 24 hours. As the hours go by with Robert still missing, the women’s secrets start coming out and Brooke learns that all those rumors don’t even start to compare to the truth of Presidio Terrace.

Buckle up for a fun ride because I promise how you think the story will end is very far from how the story ends. Well done. Thank you to all involved in my being selected for this arc I love that I found a new author to love.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives makes me want to do nothing else but binge watch Desperate Housewives! Everyone knows everyone else’s business, there’s infidelity, there’s murder, and there’s that one neighbor who isn’t who anyone thought they were!

This book will take you on a wild ride! It is fast paced and you will not want to put it down. The characters themselves are not necessarily likable, and some of the marriages seem rather strange. But there are also twists you won’t expect. The title really does say it all.

4 Stars

Presidio Terrance is not for the faint of heart. The women who live there know how do they have it and will do anything, possibly even murder to keep their “trophy wife” status. Each woman in the book has a back story or a crack in their marriage that threatens to upend their whole existences., but when a major incident happens will the facade finally crack for good?
