Izzy is looking forward to starting her new job at a Deaf agency, but she's surprised to find Nolan works there too. They shared one night together that resulted in their son Archie, but they didn't exchange contact info so she didn't know how to find Nolan. Things get complicated when she not only has to tell him about their son but she also has to contend with a no inter-office dating rule.

Izzy was a strong character who always put her son first. I thought there were parts of motherhood not often talked about in books that were discussed realistically. As a mom of young kids myself, I remember them being babies and how exhausting and special it was.

Noah frustrated me at times, but with his life experiences I could sympathize with where he was coming from. I enjoyed seeing him bond with Archie, it was really sweet. I also liked when he and Izzy found their rhythm in both their relationship and family life. It was nice seeing them come back together since the spark between them never really died.

I have read other books from this author before and liked getting to see and learn more about deaf culture and ASL, too.

This was an ok read for me. I liked the aspect of learning about the deaf community. Unfortunately something about the writing just didn’t do it for me. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

Heartwarming and at times heart-wrenching, “About That Night”, by Laura Brown (Entangled Publishing), features great, believable characters, including a sweet Beta hero low-esteem issues, an incredibly strong heroine and an adorable baby.
I really liked both Nolan and Izzy, they’re not perfect but they’re so warm and relatable.
Nolan embraces the new situation after some hesitation and involves himself actively despite struggling to figure out to handle Archie’s care (lots of fun moments and episodes emerge from his learning).
Izzy is such a wonderful heroine, loving, sweet, strong.
Archie is a great character, too, livening the story with just being there as a precious baby.
I loved the way the author wrote the interaction between Deaf and hearing people, her sensitive and very practical approach. The cultural enrichment of being exposed to different languages is palpable, the communication barriers, too. And how wonderful that Izzy and Gaby sign and speak even when Levi isn’t in the room (the romantic couple from the previous story), yet sometimes forget and there’s no problem with that.
As usual with Laura Brown, there’s an amazing disability representation. Nolan isn’t defined by his deafness and it doesn’t justify his issues and problems.

Such a lovely, romantic story. Izzy and Nolan were likeable and cute together with some really nice chemistry. It was very easy to root for them to figure things out even though their situation was so complicate. I liked the diversity of the characters, that the hero was deaf and most of the dialogue between characters in the book was in ASL. Archie was just adorable!! An enjoyable read.

First of all I adored this story and as soon as I finished reading it, I went online and purchased the firt book of this series by Laura Brown. I loved both of these characters and the laughs that little Archie provided. I actually wish that I could read another book about this little family. I did find some of the inner dialogue of these characters to be a bit repetitive but I still think it is a book worth reading.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Finally! A well written romantic comedy that celebrates diversity! I loved this story about Nolan a member of the deaf community and Izzy an ASL student. All of the characters were fully defined and even baby Archie had plenty of personality. The love and connection between Nolan and Izzy was palpable and real. I also enjoyed the message that we are more than our mistakes and reaction to adversity matters. Once I sat down to read this book, I finished it very quickly but I was left satisfied. If you want a heartfelt romance with very diverse characters, you'll love this book.
