Anchored Hearts
by Priscilla Oliveras
A reasonably written second chance romance. Alejandro and Anamaria were high school sweethearts planning to take the world by storm together until his father disowns him and her father has a heart attack and thing changed. Alejandro is now an award winning photographer but injured he must return home to Key West and help from his family and also face the girl he left behind so long ago. Anamaria is now a firefighter/paramedic and personal trainer on the side. The best bits about the book for me are the location and the meddling families and the relationship going on between the main characters and their families than the romance itself the main characters were a bit too perfect.

Alejandro had not been back to Key West since his father basically disowned him. When an accident forced Alejandro to accept help from his family, will he be able to mend fences with his father?

Anamaría Navarro was shattered when Alejandro Miranda left without looking back. Now a firefighter/paramedic, Anamaría is called upon to help. Will the old feelings for her lost love come flooding back?

Anchored Hearts is a good beach read, but a little too transparent and easy. The other thing that bothers me about this book is that all of the characters are way too talented and good looking to be representative of real life counterparts. Yes, they have flaws, but mainly ones that are on the inside.

Overall, Anchored Hearts is a fast read which is easy to pick up and put down at will. There is nothing surprising about this romance and I did not really form any kind of connection with the characters.

Book 2 of the Navarro Family, my fave Cuban family, I was so excited to get into Anamaria’s book, thanks to Sara her soon to be sister in law I wanted to see how she finally accomplished her dreams of being a fitness expert. Anyway so his second chance romance was adorable!!! I felt the humor, the passion, forgiveness & FAMILY….
Even though it was a little hard for me to connect with these two the way I did with Luis & Sara, I still enjoyed the read, can’t wait to see what book 3 will bring….. lol

This was just okay. Didn’t really connect with the characters as much as I would have liked. Would have like more spice!! Overall an okay romance.

A second chance, slow burn love story of childhood friends, family, and a city that envelopes you. Priscilla Oliveras writes stories rich in culture with attention to details from language, food, and family.

Anamaria and Alejandro once dreamed of taking on the world but parted ways to find their own dreams. Is it possible that fate is giving them a second chance to discover if their hearts are strong enough to find out one more time if they have what it takes to build a life together.

If they can survive a few meddling mothers, family friends, expectations, obligations and honesty about their lives, dreams, and hopes this time they won't be able to resist the connection.

Loved the story and can't wait for more.

This book was so cute and so funny, yet it had a deeply emotional side to it. Dealing with our families is never easy, and it's even more difficult for Alejandro because he and his father are not speaking--and now he has to stay in his parent's house after an injury while doing his job. This puts him back in contact with Anamaria, whom he was in love with but ended up leaving to travel the world and explore his photography. But being back around each other has rekindled something they thought was long gone. It was so sweet watching these two make their way back together while also still following their own dreams. I liked this book a lot!

This is a second chance at live novel. I was expected a quick day read, but it was slow to start and took me a while to get into.

Definitely pick this book up if you enjoy slow burn romance, and feeling like you’re being immersed into B a whole new culture!

What a cute story and setting in Anchored Hearts by Priscilla Oliveras. Absolutely a cute, heartwarming read about second-chance love in one of the most beautiful locales ever: Key West. The main characters, high school sweethearts, Anamaria and Alejandro, are both lovable ad you truly feel for them as they pursue another life together. This is a perfect beach read.. or one to dream about warmer weather.

I only decided to request this book because I really liked the 1st book of this series. But let me tell you this one was quite a drag and a disappointment.

Both the main characters were unlikable and there was zero chemistry between them. I didn't get what was the turmoil between them, because the author uses the miscommunication trope. I usually don't mind this trope but in here it was poorly done.
I enjoyed more the side characters and their stories than the main couple. Couldn't care less what was happening to them.
Also, a pet peeve that bothered me a lot (I had mentioned this in the 1st book as well) is the constant translation of Spanish to English. I understand that not everyone can understand Spanish but there's no need to translate right after the said Spanish word for word to English. It becomes repetitive and borderline annoying especially when the person reading understands what's being said.

Overall it was an okay romance but a quite lacking follow-up/companion book (?).

Such a sweet island affair. Set in the Florida Keys this book will transport you right into the middle of this tight nit Cuban family and the drama within. After a terrible accident, Alejandro Miranda has to return to the keys and face not just his family but the girl he left behind years ago, and has to start working on healing old wounds with all. The family dynamics are beautiful, its heart warming reading how these latina moms still care for their children even though they are grown adults. The referencing to the music, the relationships and the latino food made me feel like i was right there with them. It was such a fun one to read!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!!

Anchored Hearts is a cute read about a second chance romance taking place in Key West. This is the second book in the series but both can be read as standalones. Love the culture of the book and of course big families with lots of drama. The ending was predictable but that seems to be common in this genre.
Alejandro ends up back home due to a leg injury from jumping off a waterfall. Him and his father have a very complicated relationship which is what led him to leave in the first place. His mom requests Anamaria, his ex who stayed home to be with family and became a firefighter/paramedic, to help him in his recovery.
Anchored Hearts is a quick beach read that will get you to believing in second chances. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Island Affair but just could not get into Anchored Hearts. I loved the imagery and vibes of the book but the characters didn’t draw me in.

"Anchored Hearts" is a sweet (and spicy) second chance romance that will leave readers clutching their books and desperate for more. Priscilla Oliveras does an amazing job with her Own Voices Latinx romance bringing together two former high school sweethearts who were a classic case of "right person wrong time." What I loved most about this novel is that Oliveras does an incredible job of having the characters do the emotional labor of sorting through their past hurts and their past faults within their relationship and in their wider lives, before having them come back together as a couple. There is no "instalove" here.

When Alejandro Miranda left Key West to pursue a career as a professional photographer he left a gaping hole in his family, and in his heart. Now a decade later he is forced to return home after an accident while shooting on location. His relationship with his father is just as fraught as the day he left, and when his mother calls over his ex-girlfriend, Anamaria, to check on his injury he discovers his feelings for her are equally unresolved. Will Alejandro be able to carve a space back out for himself in both their lives? Or will Anamaria always be "the one who got away?"

Fans of Jen DeLuca, Tessa Bailey, and Talia Hibbert will devour "Anchored Hearts" and will be quick to check out the remainder of Oliveras catalog as well. She creates unforgettable characters, memorable moments, and heartwarming endings that any fan of the romance genre will be sure to treasure.

When I came across this book on netgalley I chose it because of the cover. It was the perfect steamy romance read. I gave it a 3.5 star. I can’t give it a full 5 stars because i am not a fan of second chance romance. But other then that, this was a great sequel to island affair.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance book! I read Island Affair last year, the first book in the Keys to Love series, and I couldn’t wait to read the second one! I am happy to say I loved it just as much as the first one.

While reading this book I felt like I was transported to the Keys with the characters. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the family elements. The families were very meddling, but so loving at the same time. I loved the banter and chemistry between Anamaría and Alejandro. Overall, I thought it was a sweet romance read that would make the perfect beach read!

This book is the second in a series, but I would say it reads well as a standalone as I never felt I was missing out on something from having missed the first instalment.

I'm not a second chance romance lover so this was a down side for me. As well as that, there's quite a lot of miscommunication here and it very much irritated me throughout.
