Torque (Burns Brother book 4)
By: Gillian Archer

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

She’s sweet, he’s her best friends bother!

I'm honored to have been introduced to this amazing authors books. The one thing about this book I enjoyed was it keeps you wondering what’s next.

We get taken on a odds are against them love story in the Fourth book in the series from a great author. Two people who are protecting there hearts and those they love. Both are always putting others first and carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders just in very different ways. Nathan is hot headed and kinda bulldozes through life. Maddie is shy and needs to believe in her self worth. Can they be each other’s missing piece. OR...Will the opinions of family around them tear them apart.

Written as a stand-alone but reading the previous 3 books will enhance the reading experience.

Authors Blurb: She’s his little sister’s best friend—totally off limits. But then again, this tattooed bad boy has never followed the rules.

Maddie:
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in love with Nathan Burns. We met when I was six and twenty years later, I love him still. But he’ll never see me as anything other than his little sister’s best friend a pest if he even thinks of me that much. I’ve got to face facts. He’s not into me. He’ll never be into me.
It’s beyond time to move on.

Nathan:
I swear I blinked and my little sister’s best friend a woman who’s about as off-limits as it can get grew up. And she’s hot as hell. When did that happen? It doesn’t help that she’s everywhere now at our weekly family dinner nights, sleeping on my brother’s couch next door, lying out in our complex’s swimming pool in a barely-there bikini. And who are these losers hanging around her lately? None of them are worthy of the woman she’s become. Then again, neither am I. And when I stumble across her profile on a hook up app, all bets are off.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

One Hot Brother!!

The Burns brothers are all equally as hot, each in their own way. Nathan is the one that Maddie never saw or felt as a brother though. She had more or less grown up with the Burns family with Sabrina and Dylan being her best friends but it was Nathan she had always secretly crushed on. Now years later it’s Nathan that has his attention drawn to the hot babe in a bikini by the pool. Once he discovers its Maddie he now takes his blinders off and actually “sees” her.

The family drama in this book was great with running a business together while being filmed as a series for t.v. it took on a life of its own. It’s all the secrets that brought this book to the edge so that I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry was intense and the friendships were heartwarming. I loved this book and can’t wait to see who Dylan wants to hire for their custom shop receptionist!! I’m hooked on the Burns boys.

4 Stars for this sister's best friend romance.

I thought Maddie was really sweet .... naive but sweet and she couldn't catch a break. And Nathan was growly but underneath all that surliness was a protector with a heart of gold. I found the banter between the characters very realistic ... especially between the brothers. I think what made the brothers so believable was that they didn't get along all the time ... they had their fights like real brothers do. I laughed so hard when the brothers would try not to swear in front of Ryan's little girl ... these big surly guys say "fudge" and "heck". But I found myself skimming the pages in the middle of the book as I found it very slow moving, but it didn't take long to pick up again. I liked the lead-in to Dylan's book, which was really throughout all of this book, and can't wait to read it!

Maddie has been in love with Nathan since she was a kid, but it's time to let go of that fantasy because he never thought of her as anything but his sister's best friend. When Nathan sees Maddie out by the pool, he wonders when she grew up and into a gorgeous woman at that! And now not only is she taking up all his dreams at night, he's dreaming about her during the day. But she's sweet Maddie and he's brash Nathan Burns ... they could never be compatible ... or could they?

I received an early copy courtesy of author through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

We are thrown in the scene and it was very fast paced. I read a couple chapters (which are really short) and I was already at 11 %.
For so little pages this book contained a lot. Like A LOT a lot.

Heroine is in love with the hero since childhood (20 years ago). She goes home from the dinner with the hero's family (I was lost even there - it's not said who is who). She comes home and this biker guy comes out of nowhere and put a gun to her back and ask her if she's her roommate's girlfriend. She says yes (WHYYY ??) even though she's not. He told her to pass on the message to said roommate. Suddenly the hero comes (because he's the next door neighbour, also the roommate's brother) and she fakes the biker is her boyfriend (tf really). Biker guy goes away and the hero gets angry why she's dating that guy. She doesn't admit he's not her boyfriend. He then offers to get her to her home (her actual home) which is a place in a shady part of town - at least that was what I figured out out of context. It's not mentioned and that was what bothered me. I missed background, I missed descriptions, details of everything. Anyway, her neighbours there are some thugs and while they are there some guy comes in the heroine's apartment basically stoned. And the hero throws him out and they hug and she cries and that's where I stopped reading.

*also her roommate is not at home and that is happening a lot lately (we are told that). Everything in this book is apparently shady.

This is two, three short chapters in.
So much drama, so little details. I feel like everything is a continuation of the previous books and for someone who didn't read said books this was just too much. Not enough background, I had to figure it all out myself.

Ugh, this could be a great book but it just fell flat.

No stars.

This is technically a stand-alone but if you haven't read the rest of the series you're going to be confused and playing catch up. The story itself is pretty good. I loved Nathan and his chemistry with Maddie, although it's a little insulting that it took seeing her in a bikini for him to become intetested. His family was great but it was hard to be emotionally invested when so many of the huge events that make you care about them took place before the book even started. Maddie and Dylan's actions were extremely frustrating but the ending was cute and satisfying.

Torque is the first book I have read from this author. It is also the fourth in a series. But I had no problem reading it as a standalone. Maddie has been in love with her best friends brother for years. But Nathan has always viewed her as his little sisters best friend. Once Maddie decides it’s time to finally move on Nathan starts to see her in a new light. I loved the story, I was captivated from the start. I love how Nathan is this big alpha but has no problems showing Maddie his softer side. It was an enjoyable read.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC. I am a huge fan of Gillian Archer and this book was right up my alley! I loved the entire thing. I can relate to a woman feeling shy and not good enough for her crush. This was a very sweet love story and the side story action was a plus!

I have read all of the books in this series and sadly this one did not live up to the others. I liked the writing. It flows and it did not take me long to read it. I do love the friend falls for her friend’s sibling trope and I loved Maddie. She was sweet. Yes, she was kind of a doormat but when the she needed to be strong she definitely was strong. I was left wondering why Nathan all of a sudden, out of the blue, did a 180 and fell in love (I know not at first but you know what I mean) with Maddie. That seemed very uncharacteristic. During reading I realized, slowly because don’t we all love alpha males, that even though he was not being controlling in his mind, he was in Maddie’s. Then there is the aha moment.

If you enjoy her other books you'll enjoy this one. Happy ending.& other characters from the book series is in it

Even without reading any of the previous books in the series, I was instantly hooked on Torque! And I can definitely say I’ll be going back to read the previous books.

I loved almost all of the characters in this book! Maddie was someone that I definitely saw a little bit of myself in. She was a bit of a pushover - and I can totally relate unfortunately. But at least we’re self aware pushovers. I really liked how the author dealt with her development through Torque, and by the end she was starting to learn how to stand her ground.

Nathan was a bit of a flawed hero, and again I liked how his issues were dealt with throughout the story. He was working to better himself, and his friends and family weren’t afraid to put him in his place. The one thing I wasn’t 100% sold on was how fast his feelings for Maddie appeared. He went from seeing her as a sister one second to seeing her a love interest the next. I would have liked to read a little bit more about the development of these feelings.

I really loved how the author mentioned the concept of love languages and how couples have to work through their differences when they express their love in different ways. It’s something that is realistic and it was great to read about Maddie and Nathan eventually communicating these differences.

Torque is filled with a tight knit family that of course comes with its own share of drama. It was really cute how they were all so close, and you can tell they cared about each other a lot. Everyone had their own individual vibrant personality but they all worked together.

One more thing I would have liked to hear about was the drama in regards to Dylan. Obviously it wasn’t the main plot point as this is a romance, but I would have liked to delve a little bit deeper into how everything was handed.

Overall I quite enjoyed Torque and devoured it in two days!

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to the publisher/netgalley for providing me with this!

Maddi has been in love with Nate since forever. But he is her best friend's brother. So she assumes he doesn't even see her.
Well, that's what she thinks. Because Nathan does see her. He just doesn't want to admit his feelings. So when he finds her profile on a hook-up website, he decides to give it a try.
I liked this book a look. The chemistry between the characters. The way Nathan is with her, so different from the way he is with the rest of the people. This book has been a nice surprise.

Torque is a stand-alone novel part of a family series: The Burns Brothers Series by Gillian Archer.

Gillian Archer is a new to me author and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book because without the recommendation, I don’t think this book would have been on my radar.

Torgue is about Maddie and Nathan. Nathan is one of the Burns brothers. As this is a series, it’s clear from the beginning of reading this book that the prior three novels were about the other brothers. There was enough background information provided regarding the secondary characters that I don’t feel it’s required to read the prior three novels.

The Burns brothers own a motorcycle repair shop together that is featured on a nationally aired reality TV show. The show features the brothers living their crazy life, their interactions that are naturally funny to viewers and their antics in the shop. I found that part of the book adorable and could see this being a show as there are several shows out now that have this premise.

Maddie (Madison) is best friends with Dylan, Nathan’s younger brother, his sister Sabrina and essentially like a little sister to Nathan because she is considered to be family by all of them. Nathan’s parents died tragically leaving his aunt to have raised him she and his three brothers. Maddie is even like a daughter to her. That all being said, Maddie has had a crush on Nate for as long as she can remember. She’s always had a thing for her best friend’s brother and never saw him as a brother the way she saw the other Burns brothers. Still, Nate never showed any interest in her that way. Nate always saw Maddie as his little sister.

She decides to move on from him and date. We also see glimpses into the life of her job as a librarian, Nate’s family dynamics, and see the relationship build from both Nate and Maddie’s POV.

I found this book enjoyable, especially during the last 60%. The story is low angst in terms of the relationship. There are straight forward adult conversations here and the drama comes regarding other aspects of their life. The book does include levels of thrilling moments and a climax I enjoyed.

I would recommend this for those who want a low angst, realistic relationship read and those who love best friend’s brother’s books.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another great addition to the Burns Brothers!

Maddie’s life was a mess and she’s just barely holding on. Add the fact that her friends are all in amazing relationships and living happy lives, had her confidence taking a beating. I appreciated that despite experiencing those lows, she stayed strong and kept plowing onwards.

I was worried that Nathan’s sudden awareness of Maddie, after knowing her for years, would not be believable. That’s the biggest struggle I have with this trope. And while it was a rather sudden event for Nathan, everyone around him had seen it coming for a long time. And that sudden moment that might feel contrived, ended up being so wonderfully fun and smexy and got Nathan’s motor running in a way that everything else just fell away.

There’s a lot going on in this story on every level of both Nathan’s and Maddie’s lives as well as together. At moments the angst ratchets up pretty high and I found myself teary eyed with a knot in my chest. This also has moments of humor and wit and all of it interwoven with passion that lit the pages up with a blistering heat.

Maddie has always loved Nathan since they were little kids. One day, Nathan finally notices Maddie and a relationship ensues. Personally, it almost seemed like night and day with Nathan finally noticing Maddie to the point where it almost seemed a little too unrealistic. How do you go from thinking a girl is like your sister to randomly being totally in love with her the next second? The progression should have been slower if you ask me. I loved the importance of family that Torque showed and how you would do anything for them and their safety. I honestly, liked the side characters more than Maddie and Nathan.

This was the first book that I had ever read by Gillian Archer. The main character Maddie was a little too weak and a pushover for my taste. I like my stronger females. She cried way too much and had a lot of woes me moments. I needed more steam and my interest was not always captured. Even the core motorcycle gang drama just did not do it for me.

With that being said, Torque was not the worst novel that I have read but all in all average at best. I do not like insecure girl characters. Maybe, I would have liked the book better if I had read the others but you can still read Torque as a standalone too.

I loved this 4th in a series about the Burns brothers who own a motorcycle design shop & have their own reality tv show. It was nice to see “rough around the edges” Nathan find love. The end has teaser lead-in to Dylan’s book which I’m hoping will be out soon!

I received this arc for an honest review.
Book number 4 in the series. Has Maddie who is Sabrina’s best friend and is also friends with Dylan who is the youngest brother, they actually were in school together and became close growing up. She is now sleeping on his couch because the apartment she lives in has gone to shit and is not safe. The problem is that Dylan has bigger issues than just his brothers and won’t tell anyone.
One day when a biker shows up and threatens her because Dylan is not around Nathan who lives next door thinks she is dating said guy. He tells her she should not be dating guys like that. Ryan lives on the other side of Nathan with his soon to be wife.
Maddie who works as a Libran still goes to the Burns family Sunday dinners and she still has a crush on Nathan even though he is older than her. Nathan wants her to move from her apartment he wants more also but does not want to date her. That is until one after when he returns to the apartment complex seeing a good-looking woman at the pool in a bikini. Changing and going to the pool he is shocked when the hot woman turns out to be Maddie. They decide to start dating and she begins to stay at his place since Dylan is never home anyway. The only request she has is to keep it a secret. He agrees with her because he wants to be with her.
She has so many things going on in her life with the job maybe being cut, her car being damaged by the Kings, keeping secrets that Dylan asked her to keep, plus not telling her parents about things that are going on she finally snaps when Nathan goes all in and tries to fix everything for her, she panics and bails. See how this story ends and what happens with all of the characters and if Nathan and Maddie will get back together? What happens to Dylan? Read this wonderful story and see what happens.

I had fun reading this book. The genre is very well explored and has little surprise to offer, but the book was very well written and actually came with a surprising apology and unexpected groveling at the end. So there is still some life in this. Although it's part of a series it was easy to understand the general backstory of the series. Both characters were well rounded and well described. I'm now looking the read the other two books.

The chemistry between the main characters was very nice. I think the analogy between them as a couple and Romeo and Juliet was a little bit forced and didn't really fit. As the heroine is a librarian it would have been nice if maybe a few more book references mentioned ... but that's purely my preference.

This is the first book in this set that I have read... I was given this book via Netgally for a honest review..

Maddie has been in love with Nathan since she was six and her family moved down the street from him and his family.. she became friends with his sister Sabrina.. Nathan has always known Maddie as she is his sisters bestie.. but when he finally sees her .. like really sees her... all bets are off..!!

Down on her luck she has moved out of her apartment and is crashing on her friends couch.. that friend just so happens to also be the brother of the man she has been in love with.. and he lives right across the hall..

This was a great read.. glad i was able to read it.. I now need to go back and find the rest in the series.. I really want to read about the others..

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't wait to go back and read the others in the series. Maddie has loved Nathan forever. He has never looked at her as anything other than a little sister. One day he sees a beauty sunning by the pool and goes for a swim. He is blown away upon realizing it is non other than his sister's best friend. He finds her on a dating app accidentally, and from there things bloom into a fun and romantic relationship that they are hiding from their families. Tragedy strikes and lies become revealed. Things plummet very fast. These two have a lot to get over if they ever want to have a life together.

While this book was an enjoyable, easy read, I had a very hard time with the character's inner monologue. Nathan said "seriously" and "gonna" way too often for my taste. I found it very distracting at times. I am not sure if that is just the style of this book though. I loved the mention of the love languages and once those were mentioned I could easily think back to myself and realize that was the entire point of this book! So, props to Archer for bringing this knowledge to the general public. The Burns brothers are so easy to love.
