Sixth-grader Zinnia Helinski leads a double life. Reeling from the loss of her little brother to cancer, some days, she is just ordinary Zinnia, trying to avoid being teased by fellow classmate, Trevor. Other days, she might be Spectrum, part of a super-secret league of Real Life Super Heroes in Port City, Maine, who try to make a difference in the world. Together with her teenage aunt, Willow, Zinnia joins in with her upstairs neighbors to distribute supplies to the homeless and sometimes fight crime, all while wearing super hero costumes. But what are they trying to draw attention to? The plight of the homeless, or themselves? When an opportunity to stop a crime spree presents itself, will Zinnia and her fellow Real Life Super Heroes be able to foil the plot? Will the police view them as a help or a hindrance? Find out in this touching novel of ordinary kids and teens trying to make the world a better place.
