I wish I could give this book 3.5 stars! I like Miranda’s writing style a lot. But I found there were far too many characters for me to keep track of , especially since none of the characters were particularly likeable. It was a decently fast paced domestic thriller, but nothing that I haven’t read before. I haven’t read any of the author’s other books, but I would definitely give them a chance!
Thank you to Net Galley, Simon and Schuster Canada, and Megan Miranda for my advanced readers copy. This book will be published July 13, 2021.

Such a Quiet Place gives me a lot of conflicting feelings. One on hand, it was a very quick read - I finished it in half a day. On the other hand, the plot seemed to move quite slow.

To be honest, this book is filled with completely unlikeable characters. They all like to think of themselves as good people and good neighbours, but in reality they’re only just looking out for themselves. Even the main character Harper let everyone around her dictate a lot of what happened in her life.

I quite enjoyed the mystery/suspense plot. I had to stop myself so many from skipping to the end to just find out who perpetrated the crime! I was able to find some self control and read until the end, and I was a little disappointed with how everything unfolded. I was waiting for the big reveal of the bad guy, and well, if you read it you’ll find out what I’m talking about.

Overall Such a Quiet place isn’t necessarily a bad book. It is enjoyable at times, I just wish there was a little bit more to it. A little big more characterization, a little bit more drama and suspense, just more in general.
