I really enjoyed this book! It was interesting to see how perspective and judgment changed as I read through the book. It's such a reflection of the world we live in - we see what we want to see and make the facts fit to our beliefs. I did feel some of the relationships between characters could have been expanded on a bit and it did drag for me a bit at times, but overall, a fun, fast read! I have been a HUGE Megan Miranda fan forever, so when I got an ARC of her latest novel, I literally SCREAMED!!! (I apologise to my dog for frightening him into his next life)

I don't want to give anything away, as I'm not a fan of reviews that contain spoilers, and let's face it, we're all capable of reading the summary to get an idea as to what the story will hold.

I will say, though, that by far, this is my favourite Megan Miranda novel. It is soooo good. I could not put this one down. I guarantee you that once you pick it up and read that first sentence, you will be up all night until you have read that last word.

Run out and get this one.. Pre-order it. Whatever you do, don't pass this one up. Put it on your TBR and read it when you get the chance. You will not be disappointed.

A slow burn that built up the character into rich emotions. You can feel the summer heat coming off the pages of this suspense thriller. Who do you believe? Kept me on my toes the entire time.

Hollows Edge is the kind of idyllic neighbourhood where everyone watches out for one another - they mow each other’s lawns, celebrates each other’s achievements and host backyard BBQ parties all summer long. Well, that is until the Truetts are found murdered...

Harper Nash lives next door to the Truetts and is thrown into the middle of everything when her roommate, Ruby, is arrested for the crime.

14 months later, Ruby’s conviction is overturned and she waltzes right back into Harper’s house like nothing is amiss.

Harper is torn between her sisterly relationship with Ruby and her fear of her. It’s obvious that Ruby returned to the scene of the crime for a reason, Harper just can’t figure out what it is.

When Harper starts to receive threatening notes, she knows she has to uncover the truth of what happened that night before someone else ends up dead.

Overall I’m rating this book 4/5⭐️ You’re thrown into the middle of the mystery from the first chapter. I love the way the author can give context to the story without taking away from the plot. I was left guessing until the very end, a classic Megan Miranda 👏🏼🙌🏼

When I first read the description of the book I thought it was going to be in the perspective of Ruby, but it wasn't which turned out to be in the favor of the author. The way the book flowed worked well. The character had many developments along the way.
I found the main character to be a little fruitless at times. If you don't like someone you wouldn't go hang out with them. She did and it all seemed very fake. She wanted to be on everyones good side.
The idea of the story turned out really well, the plot was well done. I sort of seen the ending coming just because I think Miranda used the character wayy to much for him/her to not be noticed.
All in all it was a good book, I would buy it when it comes out.

“Such a Quiet Place” by Megan Miranda is a captivating mystery thriller that is destined to be a bestseller. The plot draws you in right away with a heartbreaking tragedy in a beautifully detailed setting; an idyllic lakefront semi-suburban neighbourhood. One of the main themes of the novel is trust, and brings to the forefront a question: how well do you really know your neighbours, the people that you are around 24/7? This book also explores the dangers of crowdsourced investigations, and taking police investigations into your own hands, something that has been gaining popularity and with it controversy in recent years, especially on social media.

I absolutely loved the novel. It was steadily-paced, the twists and turns evenly distributed throughout to keep the reader engaged. I found myself enraptured by the artist’s writing style and could not put the book down until I was finished. I cannot wait to read more of Megan Miranda’s novels. I highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary mystery thrillers and twisty tales with female protagonists.

The quiet neighbourhood of Hollow’s Edge gets uprooted when there are two suspicious deaths one night. Brandon and Fiona Truett are found dead and the residences point the finger at Ruth. She is convicted but after 14 months her conviction gets over turned and she returns back to Hollow’s Edge. The residence have been sitting stagnate - unable to sell their homes and trapping with everyone within their community. They’ve been contemplating over their testimonies that convicted Ruth and are now terrified when she returns.
She shows up unannounced at her old roommates house, Harper who is unsure of what Ruths motives are for returning. Within days of her return suspicions are raised as to what really happened that night and secrets are revealed in what used to be a quiet little neighborhood. But everything is not what it seems when Harper and others start to receive threading notes and Ruth will stop at nothing to reveal the truth about what happened that night.
Such a quiet place is a face paced read filled with suspense and lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. This might be Mirandas best novel yet!

An over-thinking woman, a bunch of drama, and backdrop of a weird small HOA. M. Miranda created a great setting, dynamic characters, and engaging plot for a slow-build suspenseful read. I will say, the majority of 'Such a Quiet Place' reads more like a diary then thriller. This, in part, is because the mystery has a fairly slow build up and is through the eyes of one character.

I would have given it 4 stars but I was able to figure out the twist prior to the ending. There were also a couple of questions left unanswered.

I’m fairly sure this new book by Megan Miranda will be a huge hit this summer upon its release. I was hooked from the first page. It’s easy to fly through this novel and still enjoy the twists that present themselves.

I like going into mystery/thrillers knowing the bare minimum, so I will provide the same here:

Ruby Fletcher, the prime suspect in a double murder investigation, is released from prison after having served just 14 short months when it comes to light that the investigation was botched from the beginning. Ruby returns to the scene of the crime where a seemingly close-knit neighbourhood, named Hollow’s Edge, has secrets to keep and will protect them at all costs. Meanwhile Harper Nash, Ruby’s former roommate, is stunned that Fletcher has the gall to move right back in with her as if nothing has changed, while everyone else in the community still believes Ruby is guilty. And so, the story begins to unfold from there, revealing secrets and twists along the way.

This book is truly a quietly suspenseful novel that makes you leery of each character and wonder what they’re hiding. Some parts were repetitive, but I still enjoyed the book as a whole. It’s also my first Megan Miranda book and now, I will promptly go and read her backlist.

This is the 4th book I have ready by Megan Miranda and she just keep getting better! She makes you feel like you are in this town and in the middle of the action.

Synopsis: Hollow’s Edge is a close-knit neighbourhood. Everyone looked out for each other. Until one day, when two of the residents (The Truetts) were murdered, seemingly by one of their own, Ruby Fletcher.

Ruby goes to jail, eventually to have her conviction overturned on presumption of her innocence. She then returns to Hollow’s Edge, to stay at the house she once lived in, with her friend Harper.

Not everyone in the neighbourhood is thrilled that she has returned. It then becomes clear that not everyone was truthful about the murders. Once Harper starts to receive threatening notes, she begins to uncover the truth about that night.

My review: This is my first Megan Miranda novel. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but it was extremely well-executed and Ms. Miranda’s writing style had me hooked within the first few page.

One thing I particularly enjoyed was the glimpse into the community with the maps, and community message board posts. It really brings the community alive and made me feel as though I was part of the community.

This novel kept me guessing right until the end. I had many guesses as to what would happen, and none of them were correct!

I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Miranda’s books in the future.

Wow! This was the first book this year that I devoured in less than 24 hours.

I was immediately drawn into the world of Hollow’s Edge and couldn’t stop reading or thinking about this book until I knew “whodunit”.

A group of neighbors in a close-knit, relatively upscale neighborhood find themselves devastated after Brandon and Fiona Truett are found dead. The Truett’s aren’t the most popular neighbors on the street, but the community is shook to the core by the idea that something like this would happen in Hollow’s Edge. The investigation quickly comes to the conclusion that foul play was involved. The neighbors’ band together to share information about that night and that information plays an important role in convicting one of their own – Ruby Fletcher.

Fast-forward fourteen months and Ruby – released on a technicality – returns to Hollow’s Edge and moves back in with her old roommate, Harper. Everyone is on edge, the peace of their neighborhood disturbed yet again, especially when the motive for her return is revealed. Is Ruby really the killer? Has she come back for revenge?

This was definitely a slow burn read, but Megan Miranda executed it really well. You’r thrown into the middle of things from the get go as the book opens with Ruby’s return to Hollow’s Edge. The story is told from Harper’s perspective and you immediately get a sense of tension and suspicion that carries itself throughout the rest of the novel. I liked how details about the death of the Truett’s, the investigation, the trial, and Harper’s relationship with Ruby are revealed slowly throughout the book through Harper’s natural recollections, rather than relying on flashback chapters. The small breadcrumbs of information kept me hooked – I wanted to know what happened in the past, who Ruby was and what she might be capable of.

The neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge takes on a personality of its own. The book has the feel of a locked-room mystery, with the confines being the neighborhood. On the surface, Hollow’s Edge seems like a welcoming, warm community – where everyone knows your name and is looking out for you and making sure you’re okay. But there’s a fine line between being a “good neighbor” and surveilling the people around you, watching their every move and gathering information for your own purposes. The atmosphere of the neighborhood had me on edge and unsettled. Some of the characters are not necessarily well developed, but I think collectively they work together well. You don’t necessarily get a lot of depth to each of them, but I think that adds to the setting that’s being created: a place where you know everyone and think you know so much about them, but in reality you know very little.

Ruby is an interesting character to follow. She’s manipulative and her motivations are not entirely clear. Even after finishing the book, I’m not sure whether or not I like her, whether I was rooting for her or against her. I liked this complexity, but other readers may find her just outright unlikeable.

The ending was okay – I wouldn’t say I was satisfied, but I’m not super disappointed in it, it just didn’t have the wow factor I was expecting. That said, some of the twists along the way were good ones. I never had a good sense of who could or could not be trusted or where all the various clues were leading. This kept me turning pages late into the night!

Anyone who has ever lived in a community neighbourhood will definitely be able to relate to this storyline. There are a lot of characters and the story develops slowly but Such a Quiet Place has no shortage of twists and turns. The intrigue simmers until the very end. Does anyone ever really know their neighbours?

This was a very intriguing book. The story revolves around a set of neighbors in a nice quiet neighborhood, fourteen months after a convicted murderer, Ruby, has her sentence revoked and returns to the scene of the crime in this neighborhood to confront her accusers.

Both Harper, the narrator of this story, and Ruby, the formerly convicted murderer, are interesting and textured, and the author does a good job of keeping you guessing. I was never really sure who exactly was good, and who was evil, including the narrator herself. The same goes for pretty much every character in this white-washed neighborhood.

I found myself vaguely reminded of the television dramas “Desperate Housewives” or even “Weeds” as I read about the clean, brisk suburbanites and their intersecting lives in the houses clustered around the lake. With their community watches, block parties, coffee chats and swimming pool hang-outs, these characters appear to be the quintessential middle class HOA community, and the way they handle the violent death and the aftermath captured in this story was engrossing and a fun read.

4 “it’ll keep you guessing” stars.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes character-driven psychological suspense - it’s a slow steady burn and well worth the read.

I was so excited to get a sneak peek and read Such A Quiet Place by Megan Miranda earlier than publication. I have purchased all of her books and have really enjoyed all of them.

If you like stories about tight knit neighbourhoods that are filled with secrets and a crime that has everyone watching their backs- this is the book for you! Megan Miranda is a great writer and is able to create the community of Hollow’s Edge so vividly, I could not only picture the neighbours, but also felt like I was part of the group- trying to piece together myself based on what characters were saying (and not saying) to each other. I also thought the Community Board was a great touch, loved that detail.
Is it too soon to start the countdown to MM’s next book?

A crime is committed in a sleepy, claustrophobic community. The kind of place where everyone knows everyone else's business. Surprised when one of their own is charged, the neighbours are outright scared when the accused returns home after being released on a technicality.
This is a tense novel, full of suspicion and the feeling that someone is always watching. As with other novels by Megan Miranda, I didn't necessarily connect with the characters; however, the writing is so strong and the plot thickens so well that you have to keep going until the mystery is resolved.
A great summer read, this one gets 3.5 stars from me.

Such a Quiet Place is a slow burn thriller with a great premise. Ruby is released from prison and returns to her old neighborhood/ scene of the crime 14 months after being convicted of murdering her neighbors. The first chapter was interesting because it shows her returning, then the book didn’t pick up again until almost 60% in. I could easily skip whole paragraphs and not miss much. As well, many of the secondary characters/neighbors weren’t very memorable.

After the event, the book became more engrossing but it was a struggle to stay involved until then. The buildup to the conclusion was really good but the finale was so quick, I felt like I had to reread a few sentences to make sure that’s all that happened. Epilogue was a nice conclusion/ bit of information.

I’ve heard great things about this author and will try another of her books, this one just wasn’t a huge win for me.

I’m a huge fan of Megan Miranda, I never see the end coming. Such A Quiet Place was no exception - it was a slow burn, but the closer I got to the end, the more theories I had... and none of them turned out to be right!

I had no idea what to expect with Ruby and the more I learned about her the more surprised I was at the end of the book!

Such A Quiet Place really drives home the reality that no matter how much you think you know the people around you, including your friends, everyone has something to hide!

Megan Miranda doesn't need presentation anymore. She delivers another very good thriller with Such a Quiet Place. I'm a sucker for those small village thriller read, I came from one, maybe that is why. Maybe not the most fast pace thriller, but it hasn't to always be. The writing and the plot are good enough to make it worth it. Just relax, sit back and enjoy, there's no need to rush everything in life!
