🏡 @meganlmiranda kept me guessing “who did it” until the very end which I LOVE. This is a slow burn “who did it” with twists and turns. I am also currently house hunting and this neighbourhood that Megan Miranda takes you into is so believable. The neighbourhood of Hollow’s Edge and will make you question your friendships with your neighbors and even the people who live in your own home!! Closer that I got to the end the more theories I had about the conclusion, none of them turned out to be right (loved that). I read this in 3 sittings so it’s very captivating and binge worthy!

I really enjoyed this book, a great mystery with lots of twists and turns. How well do you really know your neighbours?

This was a fast paced book that kept me reading. I never really found it to lull at all which I appreciated. I did find though that the picture of the neighbourhood in the book isn't accurate to the description in the book, in that in the book it described the lake as behind the house and in the picture it shows it in front, making some of the scenes impossible. This isn't a big deal, but just something I found a bit odd.

A great mystery it had me guessing until the end, I never did solve the mystery on my own. So far this is my favourite Megan Miranda book I've read.

I guess I probably should have written the review as soon as I finished the book, because looking back now, I can’t remember what happened. It’s a forgettable book.

The characters were flat and uninteresting and unlikable. The plot was meh.

I’m torn. I wanted to know what happened but I also am not really excited to read it. It felt like a chore. I would not recommend.

This book follows Harper and her neighbours, in the town of Hollow's Edge. After a homicide occurred, Harper's roommate Ruby was accused and convicted of the crime. Over a year later, the conviction is overturned and Ruby returns to Hollow's Edge. Ruby's return makes the locals uneasy, but Harper realizes that Ruby has come back for something specific, to prove her innocence.

Megan Miranda crafted an engaging and suspenseful story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found the writing enjoyable and easy to follow. Additionally, Miranda was able to keep me guessing. I was not able to tell if Ruby was guilty or innocent until the end of the book. There was also a lot of character development in this book, and I really enjoyed the interactions between the characters. Finally, I did not see the ending coming; which is something I enjoy in a thriller/mystery. This book is a must read for fans of suspenseful thrillers!

Megan Miranda's Such A Quiet Place is a locked-room-style mystery set in a seemingly idyllic lakefront community with residents trapped by plummeting property values after a double murder. When their former neighbor, Ruby Fletcher, the convicted murderer, is freed early from a twenty-year sentence, the shocked community keeps watch. Distrusting eyes peer from darkened windows and furtive conversations build tension as Ruby returns to her former friend's home, Harper, who, overwhelmed by her sudden appearance and proclaimed innocence, lets her stay. Harper was the only person to stand for Ruby during her trial, though Harper's inadvertent words also helped convict her. Harper doesn't know where she stands with Ruby, and neither does her neighbors, and Harper gets caught between the two.

The author deftly drops multiple themes like crumbs into critical parts of the story. She then tears apart the superficiality and tribal fears of a community in a tense, quick read. I liked how the author revealed Ruby by the neighbor's reactions. It's an interesting, efficient writing technique — revealing as much about a character who criticizes as about the one criticized. It also allows the author to subtly change a reader's opinion of a character(s) by the gossip told. Gossip's toxic nature is a crucial element here, helping to drag the community down a violent and uncertain path (all in the guise of harmony and togetherness).

After reading it, I wanted more Ruby. She was a delicious character who relished her electric effect on others. She is not the lead, though. It is Harper — a touch too conflicted, confused and passive for my tastes. Knowing how difficult this balance is, I don't begrudge it, but in the end, this book's commentary is less about a suspected murderer and more about the toxic nature of an "idyllic" community, and more.

Set in a quiet neighborhood where everyone knows everyone. Everything was going well until the murders of Brandon and Fiona Truett happened. Now after a year and a half later Ruby has returned. The first half of the book was really slow for me. I did have to put it down and pick it back up a bit later. Once I got to the half way point I was hooked and it quickly improved. I was invested in finding out what was going on at that point. At times I did not like the main character but closer to the end I changed my opinion. Overall it was a good read for me. I recommend to any one who enjoys thrillers and mysteries.

This story sucked me in right from the start. I couldn't put it down! It had a lot of twists and turns. I enjoyed the book and it made me want to read more from this author.

This book is about how the murder of one of their own rocks the members of an insular neighbourhood. And what happens when the convicted person Ruby comes back to live in the neighbourhood after her prison sentence is suspended.

I appreciate the suspense the author tries to make in the novel but I found the book too much of a slow burn. I also couldn’t really relate to how close the neighbours were. The twist was unexpected and the ending wrapped up the plot in a satisfactory fashion.

This was a really great read!! I like thrillers, but too often the ending disappoints me - but with this book that is not the case!!

I was very excited to be gifted an advanced readers copy of Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda. I’ve read a number of her books in the past and enjoyed many of them.

This slow building suspense novel takes places in an idilic private community full of dynamic characters. With intriguing plot twists and unexpected turns of events, Such a Quiet Place kept me second guessing my hypothesis until the very end! I had no idea what to expect going into the last chapter, and I was pleasantly surprised by the final reveal. While I could have done with a few less secondary characters, overall I enjoyed Harper and Rubys dynamic relationship, and I loved watching the mystery unfold.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes being kept on their toes and doesn’t mind a full cast of interesting characters.

Such a Quiet Place is a slow burn thriller with a such a great premise. Ruby is released from prison and returns to her old neighbourhood which is the scene of the crime 14 months after being convicted of murdering her neighbors. The first chapter was interesting because it shows her returning, then the book didn’t pick up again until almost 60% in. I could easily skip whole paragraphs and not miss much. As well, many of the secondary characters/neighbors weren’t very memorable.

After about 1/4 into the book it starts to became more engrossing, however it was a struggle to stay involved until then. The buildup to the conclusion was really good but the finale was so quick, I have enjoyed so many other books by this author so I was disheartened by this book as it didn’t capture my attention as other books have. This book wasn’t a huge win for me.

The neighbors of Hollows Edge all know each other, they live in a close community, most work for the local school. When the Truetts are found dead, the community works together to solve their murder. Working together they help to convict one of their own. 14 mos later she is released because of new evidence, and returns back to the community. How well do these neighbors know each other, and what will happen to Ruby now that she is back.

Wow, I was intrigued the whole time and I kept changing my hypothesis every chapter. I had absolutely no idea what the ending was going to be and I was not disappointed with the result. The suspense, the character dynamic especially with Harper and Ruby, and the plot twists were all fantastic! I don't have a lot of critiques other than the map should be in a bigger format, and a character sheet would be appreciated because it took me a long time to know all the characters. The book is also slower-paced at the beginning but it picks up quite quickly.

A woman, who two years before had been covicted of murdering her neighbours, a husband and wife, comes back to her community. She had been released on some technical issues surrounding her case. The whole community is up in arms. What does she want? What is she trying to prove?
She claims she didn't do it. Then if not her, then who? The premise of the story is interesting. People in small communities tend to judge rather quickly. Police officers should not be involved in an investigation where they live and know all the parties involved.
The ending was surprising.

As someone who has read several of Megan Miranda's books already and enjoyed them, I was very excited to begin reading Such a Quiet Place.

The novel follows a small college town a year after its infamous double homicide. Ruby, the bold and free-spirited woman who was accused and convicted has now been released from jail. Instantly upon her release, she returns to the house of her former roommate and our protagonist, Harper Nash. Harper is then put in a difficult position as she grapples with the plausible innocence of the best friend she thought she knew, the neighbours who so desperately want Ruby convicted and the potential of a killer still being on the loose.

While I found the premise of the novel to be quite compelling, the actual novel fell a little short of my expectations. This novel could have been condensed in my opinion.

The writing style in Such a Quiet Place is very comparable to that in The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda, which wasn't my personal favourite. There was a lot of time spent describing the dynamics of the town and the nature of its people, which became redundant well before the 40% mark of the novel.

This novel truly is a "slow burn." The major event that truly drives Harper into a mode of investigation only takes place a little after the 50% mark. Prior to this, she is really just switching between the two "sides," alternatively finding comfort and security in the town's members and Ruby.

If you are an observant reader, you will likely pick up on the guilty party for one of the main mysteries in the novel before the ending.

Ultimately, I appreciated the premise of this book...Megan Miranda always has the most interesting concepts for her novels. That said, it wasn't my favourite by her.

I don't read murder mystery books often, so i wasnt sure if I was the right audience. But i can pleasantly say I was hooked from the first chapter!
While I never spent a moment of this book on the edge of my seat scared, it did a phenomenal job at constantly making me feel on edge. Nothing about this town feels safe and I was distrustful in everyone (even the protagonist!) at points.
Megan did a good job at tying up all the loose ends and included every character in the storyline. She proved how selfish people can be when they're desperate.
There was not a single moment where I was confident on who the killer was. Harper felt like a bland character to me, but she held a strong realistic narrative toward Ruby. Everytime Harper found a lead or doubted someone, i believed in her intentions/train of thought, even when I disagreed with her.
The book did begin to lag in the middle, the events a little 'rinse and repeat' for a few chapters, but this didn't last for too long before another twist was introduced.

This is the first book I’ve read from Megan Miranda and while I didn’t love the book, I will certainly give at least one of her other books a try.

Such A Quiet Place was in interesting premise that just kind of fizzled for me. I wasn’t really interested enough in any of the characters to either like or dislike them... or root for or against them. I love a domestic thriller, and while it seems like Miranda was going for a claustrophobic setting, the whole thing just felt a bit... small.

But, as I mentioned, I liked her writing enough to give another of her titles a try.

My favorite thing about Megan Miranda's books will always be how well she creates "small town vibes". It makes for the best combination with a murder mystery.

Everyone knowing who everyone is, trying to figure out "who did it" and slowly learning their possible motives always keeps me on my toes.

For this book, while the ending was okay, I found that all the possible informations thrown at us didn't actually go anywhere nor serve much of a purpose.

The beginning had some potential but this is my least favorite book by her.

SUCH A QUIET PLACE is about a woman named Harper who lives in a quiet, tight-knit community near the woods that were rocked by the murder of a couple who lived on their street. A woman named Ruby, who was also Harper’s roommate was jailed for the murder but 14 months later Ruby’s back and she wants to carry on living in Harper’s house like nothing happened. Harper is terrified and feels trapped. She needs to let Ruby stay with her again, right? Or risk pissing off a murderer? Plus, Ruby has no where else to go. But soon Harper starts to wonder, what if Ruby wasn’t the murderer as the close-knit community starts to turn on each other.

I loved this book so much. There was only one point of view, in one timeline, and it could be considered a locked-room mystery (Harper and the others never leave the confines of their small community.) I realized how much I missed these simple “domestic” suspenses. I also appreciated that the conflict wasn’t between spouses for once! 🙌

I very highly recommend this one. It takes place in hot weather, around a pool, and it would be the perfect pool or beach read this summer when it releases in July! ☀️

This is my first Megan Miranda book (I know, a mistake) but it won’t be my last. I have ALL THE MISSING GIRLS on my TBR shelf and THE GIRL FROM WIDOW HILLS on my TBR/TBbought list on Amazon. This book will definitely have me reading those!
