Such A Quiet Place will keep you guessing the whole time. The beginning is a slow, but intriguing burn and then the story really picks up in the middle with the first twist. It is such a quick read and perfect for a trip. This will definitely be a popular book this summer!
Thank you to Megan Miranda, Simon and Schuster, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read an advanced digital copy of this novel courtesy on the publisher through NetGalley. Review available on goodreads.

Hollow's Edge used to be a quiet place, but now its residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes. Ruby Fletcher was implicated in a crime years ago, and now she's back, causing more trouble than ever. She crashes with Harper Nash, who can't turn her away. Can anything good come of Ruby's homecoming?

This book was a good read but it felt slow overall. With the timeline I do think it’ll make a great summer read and I think fans of Megan Miranda will enjoy it. Is it my favorite of her books? Unfortunately no.

Lots of my libraries patrons love Megan Miranda and her page turners - I have read every one of her books hoping to finally change my mind. Unfortunately this didn’t do it; Miranda is not for me.

This is the third Miranda book I have read. It is an enjoyable beach read thriller but nothing I would purchase to keep on my shelf. It has a little bit of a surprise twist but is mixed up in my mind with her other two books. Still would recommend for people looking for a summer thriller.

Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy
What can I say? I really didn't care for this book. I was so bored and irritated with Harper. 60% in and I felt nothing was happening. I almost DNF the book but powered through.

I've love Megan Miranda's previous books and this is no exception! Fantastic! Her writing just gets better & better. Great twists and turns, likeable characters and what an ending!

Really enjoyed this one! Harper tended to get on my nerves from time to time. She was so easy going with Ruby. But I tend to like a stronger lead character from the start. That being said, I had ZERO clue how this was going to end and was really surprised, and pleased with the ending! You see mob mentality, and what happens when folks can decide for themselves, or can’t stand on their own backbone. Followers. Again, me leaning towards stronger characters! But, that wouldn’t have gotten us thru this book, if we were surrounded by strong folks. So.....read the book folks! You will enjoy it!

I have been really enjoying Megan Miranda's books, so was thrilled (!!) to get a chance to read her latest release! Normally I am not a fan of the slow burn, especially in suspense novels as I like some teasers and action throughout, but somehow this totally worked for me. Miranda has the reader going down one path of what you think happens, and then halfway through the book writes a twist leaving the reader wondering what will happen next!
This story had me hooked and I couldn't put it down until I got my answers at the end. I would definitely recommend this to my suspense and mystery-loving friends!

⭐⭐⭐.5 ~ Rounded up
Hollow’s Edge used to be such a quiet place, a beautiful private neighborhood where the neighbors got together for backyard BBQs, pool parties etc.
Then a year and a half ago the murder of neighbors Brandon and Fiona Truett upset the whole community. Even now the residents are trapped and cannot sell their homes.
Rudy Flectcher the next door neighbor was convicted of their murder.. Now Ruby’s conviction has been overturned and she is back in the house she shared with Harper Nash and acting like nothing ever happened.
This is my sixth author,: Meghan Miranda, I am a fan! And I definitely will read another
But I found this a tad slow. True! I didn’t figure out all the details and did like the ending ~ this was good! Just wasn’t a ‘Wow”. Perhaps my level of expectation was too high.
Want to thank NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for this uncorrected eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for professional review purposes only.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for July13, 2021

In her latest thriller, Miranda paints a beautiful, scenic space for a mystery through views of a homey, lakefront neighborhood with meandering roads near a lush, quiet college campus.
I’ve read all of her work and this is by far the most intricately described. After reading All The Missing Girls, I devoured all her other books, and Such a Quiet Place sucked me right back in again. I truly loved getting to know my way around Hollow’s Edge and it’s cast of characters. It almost felt too perfect to house a double homicide, which gave the mystery even more of an off-putting, unstoppable edge.
Ruby, the accused, was so unlikable but also so intriguing. The twists in this book were excellent and so unpredictable that I couldn’t stop reading.
Highly recommend to any Megan Miranda fans, thriller junkies, and small town sleuths.

This was an interesting premise but I had trouble getting into it. It centers on Harper, part of a close-knit community, whose roommate Ruby was convicted of killing a neighborhood couple the year prior. Ruby’s conviction gets overturned and she comes back to the neighborhood, staying with Harper and making everyone nervous.
The reason I think this book didn’t really work for me was because it’s told solely from Harper’s POV and a lot of it narrates her thoughts rather than actual events that happened. Also, this group of neighbors is described repeatedly as being close-knit, but it didn’t ring true for me- I didn’t get an indication of who these characters really were and their relationships didn’t seem believable.
The book is described as a slow burn but was really a slog for me, especially in the first half. There were a few twists, some unexpected, but there were also questions left unanswered and I had overall confusion at the motives of some of the characters. At the very end, I got what the author was trying to do as it relates to the theme of the book, and while clever, I just didn’t make the connections throughout the rest of the story.
Overall, this was not the book for me but there may be a better audience for it. The pacing and lack of characterization were the primary issues for me. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great hook and opening chapter, but ultimately this was too slow burn for me and trying too hard to deliver on its premise. Megan Miranda is a queen of the slow burn thrillers and her writing style is still top notch here. However, something just wasn't gelling for me; more time was spent in the head of the protagonist than was spent setting up the tense atmosphere of this private community. Miranda provides the reader with a little map of the neighborhood along with who owns each house and where they are in relation to the lake and pool, but very little is spent with the neighbors themselves. The typical red herring set ups are flat and tension really doesn't get much of a chance to build. All I really got from this book was that apparently these neighbors all love walking through the woods in the middle of the night for some reason. The murder mystery at the center of the story is just sort of a lull instead of something of excitement or intrigue. "All the Missing Girls" is still the superior Miranda book, and though this wasn't terrible, it's not of the author's typical caliber.

Thank you to @simonandschuster and @netgalley for this pre-publication ARC of "Such a Quiet Place", in exchange for an honest review.
Eighteen months after being convicted for the murder of her neighbors, Ruby Fletcher shows up in Hollow's Edge. Her conviction has been overturned, and now her former roommate, Harper Nash, must confront both the return of her friend and the mystery of what really happened the night the Truett's died. If Ruby didn't kill them, then who did?
Megan Miranda proves herself again as a solid choice for modern thrillers with "Such A Quiet Place". She sticks to her tried and true female led story, and brings you to many conclusions before hitting you right in the gut at the end. If you were a fan of "All the Missing Girls" or "The Last House Guest", pick this one up when it publishes this summer.
"Such A Quiet Place" by Megan Miranda will be released on July 13, 2021, wherever you buy books.

3.5 stars! Such a Quiet Place is a fast-paced psychological thriller, full of suspicious characters with hidden secrets that’ll keep you guessing.
14 months ago, Ruby Fletcher is found guilty of murdering her neighbors. But when her conviction is overturned, she returns to Hollow’s Edge seeking revenge on those that testified against her in court. Suddenly it is not so quiet anymore and everyone is on edge. Did Ruby kill her neighbors or is there another murderer on their quiet little street?
Thanks to #NetGalley, Megan Miranda, and Simon & Schuster for the ARC of #SuchAQuietPlace.

This book had me from the beginning! Full of suspense and intrigue. I LOVED this book and will be recommending it to everyone as soon as we can order it for our library. Great job!!!

This is a slow paced mystery that builds to a a very clever ending. The story starts off with Ruby, who just got out of prison due to her conviction being overturned, coming back to the neighborhood where she was accused of killing the couple next door. Our protagonist of this story is Harper, Ruby's former roommate, and she is shocked when Ruby shows up at her house suddenly after being released. Harper actually testified on Ruby's behalf during her trial but despite that and the overturned conviction she isn't sure if Ruby is guilty or innocent. Alongside Ruby's return Harper starts to receive menacing notes and realizes she needs to figure out exactly what happened that night a year ago.
The strongest part of this story for me was the characters and the locked room vibe of the story. The crime took place in a small community neighborhood where half the people also work at the same place. All the characters have something going on and since we only view them from Harper's perspective we are never quite sure who we can or can't trust. I also appreciated the fact that while the environment is seemingly wide open the actual plot kept it very contained. The neighborhood is just a regular one but because of the message board and the choices Miranda made the actual number of people who could have been involved is quite small. For that reason, I do think that you will not enjoy this book as much as I did if you don't really care for character driven stories. The mystery was untangling before us but it happened at such a slow pace at times that if you need action for a story to matter to you then I would think twice about picking this particular mystery up. To me, the ending more then made up for whatever bits slowed the book down. It was a brilliant way to end the story while also remaining true to the message of the story. Which is how well do we really know our neighbors?
This is the third Megan Miranda book that I have read and I really enjoy her writing. She has such a methodical and mesmerizing way of unraveling a mystery. This would make a great beach/pool day read and I highly recommend to all my fellow mystery lovers. Or anyone in the market for a remarkable summer read.

Sad to say this was my first Netgalley book that I was not impressed with. I was so excited for it, but it fell completely flat for me.
.
Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda takes place on a quaint little street in Virginia. The story is told from Harper’s point of view when her former roommate is released from prison-for the murder of their neighbors. The rest of the neighbors feel uneasy about having a convicted felon in their midst. However, Ruby is out to seek the truth, claiming her innocence and creating a divide against the neighbors.
.
The climax of this book I can best describe as ‘meh’. I was waiting for big, juicy neighborhood drama and was served none. The truth behind the neighbors deaths actually took away from the story. I reread the last chapter twice trying to figure out what I missed along the way. There is also mention of something else in the last chapter that makes no sense and left me feeling bemused.
.
Solid 2.5 for me, but rounded to a 3.

I just don't know how I feel about this book. On one hand, it was a pretty interesting read. On the other hand, it was a bit.... eeeehhhh.
I think what has me teetering on this book is the slow pace. The premise of the book itself is very interesting. The mystery of it all was very intriguing. But getting clues and the story moving forward was like watching paint dry. I found myself telling my Kindle to get on with it already.
I can't say I liked the characters in the book. I also can't say that's a good or bad thing. I don't think the reader is supposed to necessarily really like the characters. That's the whole point to the story. However, it would have been nice to have some kind of allegiance with at least a couple of them early on.
Overall, I am in the middle on this book. Do I think it's worth a read? Sure. Do I think this book will be on any of my favorite lists for the year? Probably not.
