This is the first book I’ve read by Megan Miranda but I will definitely be reading more! Set in the tight-knit neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge, Such a Quiet Place depicts what happens after Ruby Fletcher returns to the neighborhood after her conviction for murdering two neighbors is overturned. The portrayal of neighborhood drama and social media will probably feel a little familiar to anyone who lives in a similar setting.

I would consider this to be a slow burn - there were a few parts that were a little slow, but overall I found myself sucked in and didn’t want to put it down. The characters were interesting and the twists kept me guessing right until the end.

I didn’t love her first book so I was hopeful this one would be better. The premise was definitely intriguing. Neighbors, secrets and a gated community thats supposed to keep the supposed to keep the dangers out? What’s not to love. However I felt like this book just dragged... I felt like we just kept going in circles with not much progress until the last 50 pages and then I still was wondering why I spent so much time reading this... it was fine.

I’ve read four other books by this author and really enjoyed them, so I was excited to preview this book from Netgalley. I’m not sure what it was about this book that had me lacking in engagement from the beginning. At times the narrator was clearly the main character, Harper, and at others, the royal “we” was used. All three of the prominent male characters (Mac/Chase/Preston) blurred together, with no distinguishing characteristics for any of them. To be honest, even the main character wasn’t particularly defined or fleshed out, and what you did know of her, you didn’t particularly like. The ending was incredibly anti-climactic, and the book just sort of fizzled out. I finished it, which was not an easy feat, but I wasn’t happy while reading it at all. Ultimately, the slow pace and lack of character development led me to give this one a two-star rating.

Wasn’t a fan. I found the story to I be very slow but yet predictable. The ending didn’t really have a wow factory. I miss the old Megan Miranda.

Megan Miranda is a top-notch mystery writer; there are no holes, no gaps, just a tight, page-turning suspense that builds from one page to the next. Filled with characters as unique and individual as those in your own neighborhood, Hollow's Edge seemed so inviting, so safe. But as Harper starts to find out what really happened the night the Truetts died, she learns you can trust no one, sometimes not even yourself.

This book paced along quite nicely and I was able to finish it quickly. While the characters aren't exactly likable, they are well-written and keep you invested in the story. My biggest complaint, after working in higher education for over ten years, is how casual the workload is perceived to be in the summertime. That's when there would be orientations, tours, etc. and certainly not everyone would be out of the office. The director would be expected to be working and not just stopping by to pick up some files.

The narrator has an annoying habit of repeating observations, as though she forgot having just pointed that thing out 10 pages ago, but this is otherwise a brisk, pleasant read.

I think Ms. Megan Miranda has outdone herself with her latest novel, "Such a Quiet Place". If you've read her before then you know what you're getting. If not, you're in for a great ride! Thankful to NetGalley for providing me a copy to read and review.

A neighborhood, suburban mystery, this latest of Megan Miranda's is hands-down my favorite of hers. After the suspicious deaths of a couple in the neighborhood, another neighbor who was convicted of their murders returns after her conviction is overturned on a technicality. From there, the main character Harper finds herself questioning just how well she knows any of her neighbors. This book was a total escape that had me captivated until the end. A true who-dun-it!

I am a big Megan Miranda fan, having read all of her books over the years, including the YA ones. This was by far my favorite one yet (or maybe a tie with All The Missing Girls!!) .

This is not a heart pounding suspenseful thriller, but rather a slow burning mystery. The characters were all well developed, and flawed, making me question their motives and involvement in the two crimes which took place in the novel. The neighborhood antics were believable, the rumors which start spreading like wildfire, and assumptions being made based on one another’s relationships.

Overall, I think Miranda fans will enjoy this one, even though it was more of a “whodunit” mystery than an edge-of-your-seat thriller. It was a very quick read for me!

Megan Miranda has fast become a favorite of mine- so much so that when I was approved to read this ARC, I stopped in the middle of another book to read this one. Once again, she knocked it out of the park. I don't know that I would call this a "mystery", since I was sort of able to figure out exactly what was going on, but I'd definitely call it a "thriller", since the suspense was kept high. I really liked the characters and their development- I even liked Ruby, although I knew I wasn't supposed to. (I don't know that I was supposed to really like ANY of the characters, truly.... but I did). This book is so much more that just another novel...it forces us to look at the darkness within us all, and how it's effect on those in our circles. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. I can't wait to read what Megan Miranda thinks up next.

Another twisty, well written book by Megan Miranda! Unique and realistic, making it one that I truly felt connected to, since I think the ones that are truly are a possibility are the absolute best! The characters are developed in a manner that is impeccable, making me connect even better with the story! Definitely fast paced, unputdownable, and chilling! Lots of twisty turns, thrills, chills, and shocks! Highly, highly recommend! Make sure you clear schedule prior to starting and do not start before trying to sleep!

I am a big fan of Megan Miranda but this book was definitely not one of my favorites. The premise itself seemed quite dull to me but I was still excited to give it a try as I was not intrigued by the story line of her last one (The Girl from Widow Hills) but ended up liking it. The whole concept was pretty dull and it was an extremely slow start to the point where I almost DNF’d 20-30% in. The initial murders were just too tame and didn’t even seem like a murder (is that supposed to be foreshadowing..? it seemed too obvious). It does get more interesting about halfway through but it’s a long time to wait for it to start picking up.

One of the most annoying things for me in this novel was the constant “we” rants where the narrator talks about how we do this or that referring to the entire neighborhood as if they are one person. I do get the point she’s making and how it’s relevant to the story line but it just felt extremely overdone. Plenty of those could have been taken out with the point still getting across. I’m not sure if the description of the neighborhood and community was an attempt to make it seem more unique or more like every neighborhood but it just felt a bit annoying the way it was kind of hyped up and was a bit over dramatic (something I would usually never have an issue with).

I also was not really satisfied with the revelation that no one had actually killed them and that Brandon’s purchase of the carbon monoxide detector was enough to prove innocence. Although I had at first suspected that it was just accidental death, by the end, I was really hoping that wasn’t the case as it just felt like such a letdown. Even the reveal that Charlotte murdered Ruby just felt off since she didn’t even have any idea if Whitney was involved and due to the lack of motive or evidence. It doesn’t even seem that likely that Ruby would have gotten convicted in the first place based on the lack of evidence either.

The references to Harper’s brother and family just felt underdeveloped, like it was supposed to have a big impact on her characterization but we just didn’t really know enough to understand the full picture there. Again, I get what this was trying to achieve, it just didn’t feel complete enough for me to be invested.
There’s also a random paragraph about time (that I can’t seem to find now) that felt extremely random and out of place – definitely think it should be taken out before this goes into print..

Overall, I didn’t hate this book but would definitely be hard for me to recommend to someone. Her first few were so much better than this one (though I have read some reviews that say the opposite so to each their own!). The more I read Megan Miranda, the more I enjoy her books. Such a Quiet Place was a simple, engaging, and ultimately thought-provoking story about what happens in a town when one of their own is accused of murder. Fourteen months ago Ruby Fletcher was tried and convicted of the murder of Brandon and Fiona Truett. However, her conviction was overturned in the light of new evidence, and she returns to the same town where the murder took place. Obviously her neighbors are less than thrilled about this, and Harper Nash is no exception. Ruby was her roommate when the murders occurred and is shocked when Ruby waltzes back to their home as though no time has passed. What happens next had me glued to my seat and I had to keep turning the pages to get to the ending.

The ending was satisfying, in my opinion. It did feel slightly rushed in my opinion, but the length was good. I think the events transpired a little too quickly and the characters felt a little flat at times. Nothing really differentiated between them, but it did not detract from the overall story. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. People who love a good mystery will not be disappointed by this book.

I really enjoyed this. It combined my dislike of Nextdoor and nosy neighbors with some of my concerns with citizen crime solving but was also a fun, suspenseful read. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I really like her style!

3.5/4 stars. I love this author and have read quite a few of her books before this one. I enjoyed this one even though it was a little slower pace book than I expected. It was definitely twisty and the plot was great. I definitely recommend for an easy, fast read.

I was so excited to see a new Megan Miranda book coming out! I've read all but one of her books and she's becoming an easy go-to author for when I want a consistently good mystery and this one did not disappoint.

Ruby Fletcher was just released from jail after serving 14 months for murdering her neighbors. She returns home to her tight knit neighborhood, much to the shock of everyone living on the street. No one is more surprised than her former roommate Harper. During Ruby's trial Harper was the only witness for the defense, although her testimony helped set the timeline which ultimately led to Ruby's conviction. Now that Ruby is back and acting strangely, Harper starts to second guess Ruby's innocence. When another death happens on the street all the neighbors start to bring their suspicions to the surface and no one knows who they can trust.

3.5 stars because I had a little bit of a hard time keeping some of the neighbors straight (too many initials and similar sounding names) and there was one hole in the story for me regarding one of Charlotte's daughters.

Never a dull moment when you read a book by Megan Miranda! I was so thrilled to get an advanced copy from netgalley! This story took off like a nice neighborhood of ppl and then BAM the crazy hit just at all the right spots and didn’t let go til the end! Just the way I like it! I’ve been a big fan of hers since boom one and they just keep getting better and better!

Such A Quiet Place was a good twisty whodunit thriller. I had several suspicions of what happened but was pleasantly surprised at the end. Every character feels like a suspect. Megan Miranda really showed that it doesn’t matter how well you know your neighbors, everyone has a secret and will do whatever they can to protect that.

Such a Quiet Place is a slow burn kind of mystery. The story is set in a private neighborhood where all the neighbors have their own secrets and assumptions about each other.

After the suspicious deaths of a couple in the neighborhood, another neighbor who was convicted of their murders returns after her conviction is overturned on a technicality. Ruby returns to the neighborhood to a cold reception with lots of questions of her own. But things take a turn when another person in the neighborhood dies...what was in the blue cup? And who was supposed to drink from it? As the neighbors realize they might all not be as safe as they first thought, accusations begin to fly and everyone is a suspect...again.

This book is a great tale of how fear, secrets, and assumptions can distort reality and bring out the worst in people. While the plot is not fast paced, I was intrigued by the slow reveal of details and new revelations. If you're looking for a good mystery without the graphic descriptions that comes with most thrillers, this is a good one for you!
