I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have read a few books before this one that had Banshees but this is the first to who did not have the voice to cry. That made the story unique from the get go. The fast that Aleah is only half banshee and half human make this interesting. That is when a vampire comes to her for help to get rouge vampires. There was some things a little off when Luc almost drains her once she has gone to sleep. The details in the story are vivid, but the pace of the book was a little off for me.

There are 2 books to be reviewed here - Banshee Cry and Banshee Song, although there is a 3rd in the series, Banshee power. It is the Blood Fae Chronicles series.
A fantasy novel which takes on a Banshee as a main character which is so different from a witch or a were or...
The thing we all know about Banshees, is that they cry when a death is to happen. Well not so much a cry as a scream. Except that our heroine Banshee has a very soft voice. So not much use as a warning. And she is only part Banshee, the other part is immortal Fae. Which means she has powers.
A good set of fantasy stories. With lots of different Fae and other creatures. Some battles/fights, some power plays, and other normal issues between the various races.
If you like fantasy, then read the 3 books.

Tried to give this author another shot. Still meh. Couldn't get invested into the story at all. Characters were one-dimensional.

If you want to read something where its only 15% good plot and the rest is just steam and sex then here you go. Otherwise pass.

The last 15% of the book was I guess what redeemed this from a 1 star to a 2 star for me.

I have never read a book with a banshee in it and hence why I requested this one from Netgalley because I am all for learning about different fae and I thought this one would be a quick read. And it is a very quick readthrough. But, yeah this one didnt do it for me. There was a lot of unanswered plot points like they kept alluding to how Aleahs real name would be a bad thing if found out but didnt go into who send those two loup after her or really go into why besides to take her blood. Why are banshees almost extinct and why does her mother, in the loosest of terms, need to be the sole procreator of their species.

Some of the writing really skeeved me out. After a particular sex scene in which he tells her, “Wash off the residue of our lovemaking and enjoy all the nuances of sensation that your no-longer-virginal body will now reveal." ..........yikes. I almost dnf'd right there.

I also had some major issues with the fact that Aleah could have been likeable if it werent for the annoyingly cliché of "no i cant be with you, all vampires are bad, one killed my father" to having sex with him on the next page and "my only friends were brutally murdered but now I have to bone this vampire".

The one fight scene was written mostly well, but then youd have Aleah trying to act all badass which she is not by her taunts that consisted of “Come on, you crazy, naked little vamp. Want to play? Try me.”

So um yeah, for anyone wondering, major pass.

An intriguing yet disturbing book

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this book. The blurb really lured me in and I was excited to read it because it's not often that I find books about Banshees. But I don't really know what to think now. I did enjoy reading it. It's a quick read and the story is fast-paced and exciting. However, the romance didn't really work for me. I felt like the main character didn't have a mind of her own and was influenced by the male love interest way too easily and quickly. I found some issues regarding consent and it didn't really work for me to be honest. Which is a shame because apart from that, it was good! The writing style was fluid and all, but it's really the romance that made me rate it only 3 stars. And yes, I knew that it was going to be steamy, and that's not the problem. The issus is really how it's written and brought about.

Anyway I'd still like to read the next one because the plot intrigues me!

Hmmmmmm.... I really wanted to love this. I enjoyed the characters, this is the first banshee book I’ve read so I was excited to see where this would go. The overall story was good, I enjoyed the characters and there wasn’t any missing holes. I will definitely be reading book 2 and see how this evolves.

I had so much fun reading this. It was exiting, romantic, fast paced and steamy. If you're looking for a new paranormal series to start I definitely recommend this one. You will get everything you want in a book like that.

Der Vampir der Geschichte überzeugt seine Banshee aber nicht nur mit seinem Körper, sondern auch etwas anderes zieht die beiden zueinander. Wie was genau, das müsst ihr selbst herausfinden...

Aber, eins sei vorab gesagt: es ist eine "schnelle" Geschichte. Gefühle entstehen hier eindeutig sehr schnell a la fated mates. Darum erwartet euch hier kein ewiges Hin und Her, sondern seid darauf gefasst, dass es bei den beiden einfach schneller geht :)

Es gibt ne Storyline selber natürlich auch noch, wobei man hier nur die Anfänge erfährt. Da geht es dann hoffentlich in Buch 2 mehr zur Sache bzw. man erfährt mehr Hintergrund.

Auf jeden Fall für einen schönen Nachmittag perfekt - leicht, sexy und verdammt heiß.

Banshee Cry is definitely a story with quite some steam :)
The vampire of this story does not only seduce his banshee with his body, no, also feelings are coming up their way. What really drives them together, you have to find out for yourself.

However, when you do be prepared that the ride is rather a quick one ;) Feelings appear rather quick and there is definitely no back and forth all the time. Both of them very soon realize what they want.

Of course there is a storyline itself as well, however, we do not get to explore too much of the world. Hopefully this changes in book 2.

Definitely a book for a chill afternoon, easy, sexy and really hot.

Aleah is a banshee whom has looked to avoid any further trouble. She lives in the country with her bees in hope of escaping death and living a quiet live. However, evil has a way of popping up and changing everything. Aleah abruptly meets Luca as he is escaping the very evil that has permeated her community. Aleah is slow to help taking in the considerations and natural consequences of a vampire into her home. But she did not anticipate that sparks may fly...

I would recommend this for anyone who likes steamy gripping love story. I rate this a 4 out of five and would definitely put this on your to be read list! I felt like the plot was original and new and had a cool twist! This Netgalley ARC was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Aleah has hated vampires since two of them killed her father when she was four so when a vampire appears at her doorstep asking for help she is reluctant to help him, even if he is the most handsome man she has ever seen.

Aleah and Luc fall for each other immediately and, although I am not a big fan of insta-love, I have to admit that the tension between these two was real from the first second. They don't deny the attraction they feel for each other and everything goes smoothly.

Each book is about Aleah's sisters (I am guessing) because her mother goes all around the world with the only objective to have children to create more banshees, so they don't really know each other and, although these books are standalone, I feel like there is some information missing that will come up in the next two books of the saga.

This was an enjoyable book fast to read with some action and spice touch and I feel like the chemistry between the main characters was on point, a good book if you need short but entertaining reading.

I actually feel that these kinds of stories are no longer for me.

Although he has a good rhythm, in fact everything happens very fast. The thing that made me feel strange reading it the most was that it focused only on its two main characters.

I didn't feel that the story could interest me.

This was a very short read that gave a pretty self contained story. We get a tidy happy ended that was satisfying and can most likely standalone.

Aleah is a banshee who doesn't quite work right. Her voice was injured/hidden when her father was horribly murdered, so while she still feels the deaths close to her, she can't actually warn anyone. To handle this, she's set out to find her own land set aside from most other humans. That doesn't stop her from making reluctant friends, but this story almost immediately starts with her announcing (brokenly) some nearby deaths.

This coincides with the arrival of a vampire investigator (supernaturals are "out" in this world). The horrible deaths in the area are part of his larger investigation, but that gets pretty derailed when he Luc meets Aleah. She has some baggage about vampires, though, so they have some issues to overcome before getting that HEA.

By the end, we get a lot more information about this world and the supernaturals. Aleah's family is further revealed, as is the world that is involved in tracking a bunch of banshee half-siblings that I assume we will meet in future installments. This book had a blend of smut, mystery, and fantasy - so if that's a good genre blend for you, this book is a quick an easy read.

Banshee Cry is a fun, steamy little paranormal/fantasy novella.

Aleah, a half-Banshee, is minding her own business out on her bee farm when she's interrupted by an injured paranormal vampire cop, Luc. Now, vampires are the worst sort, having killed her father, and not to mention all the past trauma that starts boiling up to the surface just at the sight of him. Add to that, there's the small fact that Banshee's blood is super alluring and addictive to vampires and that's a super hard pass of helping the cop. Except he doesn't act like any vamp she's ever met (not that she's really met all that many) and there's just something about the dark and mysterious man that calls to her a well.

Luc Durand is not used to depending on others but he made a stupid mistake trying to save a child and he ended up paying the price for it. He must charm the delectable little Banshee so he can rest and heal and can get back on the case of paranormals that are behaving weirdly. Different breeds are teaming up and the human population is paying the price. Can he resist this enigmatic banshee's siren call for long enough to solve the mystery and keep more people from dying?

Banshee Cry is fun, fast-paced, and steamy with a lil bit of insta-lust/love thrown in. I want to know so much more about Aleah's mum and the whole soldier's backstory. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

BANSHEE CRY is the first book in the Blood Fae Chronicles, and we find out about a banshee female who has taken the 'job' of creating more hybrid banshees. This is not a particular hardship on her, but more so on the men and babies, she leaves behind. One of those is Aleah. Due to her history with vampires, she is not very sympathetic when Luc Durand comes a-knocking on her door, asking for help. The attraction is instantaneous, but she fights it, for a little while.

This is a steamy paranormal tale that has sadness as well as heat. It is well-written, with a smooth and fairly fast pace. I can't wait to find out more about the overall story arc and how it fits in with the rest. For a novella, there is a lot to this story, and plenty of hints of more to come.

A quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

It was a short and easy read story. Though i wished it was a little longer. But it was fun to read, had a good plot and nice characters.

This was an okay read. I liked the fact that this story had a banshee main character which I had never encountered before in a paranormal/urban fantasy world. The plot was ok, but the execution was lackluster. I wanted more time for the relationship to develop between our main characters, and more to their background.

Meet our main character: Aleah. She has a ridiculous long real name that nobody but her mother can pronounce and is a banshee without a proper voice. Aleah lost her father when she was four years old because he was murdered by two vampires (or so she thinks).
One night Aleah goes outside of her cozy farm in the middle of nowhere in Australia only to find handsome, incredibly sexy vampire Luc Durand who is on the brink of death.
Against her own judgement Aleah decides Luc deserves a place to recover. We all know the most perfect place to recover is the not so comfortable couch of course. The two get to know each other *wink wink* and the rest is history.
And oh yeah, there are murderers on the loose, so that adds a fun mystery element.

First of all, the things I liked. I loved the world building and liked the representation. Luc is a bisexual vampire who is not afraid to be honest and speak his mind. We also have Dave, who is a cute, little boy who has Down syndrome. If you’re all for insta-love and un-explainable attraction between characters, this one is for you. I liked the banter between Luc and Aleah. And last but not least, the smutty scenes in this one are definitely some to remember.

Second of all, I liked the side characters way more than the main ones… Which is a shame. I loved the elderly couple living next to Aleah, her friend Laura and son Dave and let’s not forget the most important characters in the entire book: THE CATS. I LOVED THE CATS AND THEIR PERSONALITIES.
For whatever reason I just couldn’t connect to Aleah as a character. She just fell flat for me. What would’ve helped me connect more to her was just see her go about her day to day businesses in the town where we could’ve met some of the people she speaks highly of and in which we would also feel more connected to Aleah and her personality. I think a chapter like this could’ve given me the extra push I needed to care more about certain events further in the book. Luc is somewhat better but not in the way that I became attached. Furthermore, sometimes he is just straight up creepy… Like really creepy. He did some questionable stuff in relation to Aleah.

Third of all, the writing. The writing is really not my thing. All the unnecessary questions, all the ridiculous and irrelevant thoughts Aleah has… Why. At some point in the book I just stopped highlighting these because it became too much and really started to bug me. Sometimes certain sentences were written to explain things to the readers that are implied and thus very clear without the extra explanation. Readers are not stupid. Also, some things just didn’t make any sense. Sometimes I had to reread sentences or scenes more than once just because I was confused about what was going on.

Fourth, I liked the mystery element and deciphering along with the characters what exactly is going on. I loved the way this was heading and this is one of the elements that might be able to convince me to still pick up the second book in this series.

Lastly, this book made me laugh… Hard. Sometimes I think the author intended for it to be a funny sentence or scene. Other times I think it was just the really dramatic writing or bad choice of words? But oh well, the book made me laugh and I definitely can appreciate that fact.

I enjoyed this story of a banshee, Aleah who lives sustainably in the country in part to avoid the anguish of heralding the deaths of a more populated area. When friends are attacked and evil comes to her, she meets a supernatural policeman who is attempting to solve the crimes and wins her heart. Readers will be eager to learn about her hybrid siblings and the evil that threatens them.

This books was sup-par not a good plot or heroine. I hate insta-lust when there is no chemistry. The story was not compelling it was a chore to finish this book.
