I found this book to be ok. The plot moved along at a good pace. I just didn't connect with the characters. The chemistry was lacking.

Overall a short a sweet book, light on plot. Light on character development. Very little conflict and what there was was easily resolved. 2 sexy scenes. Overall I’d say it was cute but not something I’d read again.

So I really enjoyed this book! Georgianna was an older romantic lead (yay) who discover what she wanted out of life. Stephan was a rogue, trying to do better. Great supporting cast of characters too! No spoiler here...i just believe you enjoy their story as much as I did.

Miss Georgiana Conley is 35 years of age and tired of living in cramped conditions with her family. Hence, she jumped at the chance to go and live with her aunt as her companion. When arriving at her aunt’s home, so meets Stephan Laurent, Earl de Winter, albeit in embarrassing circumstances. Stephan needs to marry an heiress, to pay enable him to pay off his debts. Stephan and Georgiana have an attraction to each other but she hasn’t a dowry. Although I enjoyed the story, it didn’t feel up to the same standard as the others in this series. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own,

I was super excited to start reading this book, but was soon ambivalent, as Stephan is having an affair with Georgiana's aunt (her mother's twin sister). Her aunt and Stephan have been having an affair for over a year and he's having one last tupp with her aunt when Georgiana catches him, well, completely undressed at her aunt's door. Just didn't work for me, though I usually do enjoy Emma Locke's books.

A penniless spinster at five and thirty, is on her way to live with her aunt, a former courtesan. Stopping at an inn to rest, she meets a most striking young man. Stephen, Lord de Winter. She is smitten, he is intrigued. Pressured by his sister for money, she wants him to marry an heiress, he wants to marry for love. A faced paced story of a most unlikely couple to fall in love. Well worth waiting for the publication of this book.

This was so enjoyable and unexpected. First of all, we learn that the heroine is a 35 year old spinster on her way to live with her spinster aunt. On the way, the heroine meets the hero and she finds herself admiring his bum. He offers to share ale with her and she refuses, thinks about it, then agrees to share ale with him. She is impressed at the quality of the ale because one if her previous duties was being the ale-wife for her brother's estate. They share an enjoyable, companionable evening and she puts her dreams aside and the next morning travels to her aunt's cottage. She arrives at her aunt's bedroom door and is about to knock when she sees a naked man banging on the door, begging for his clothes. Well, obviously her spinster aunt has an active sex life. She is shocked.
And the story just takes off from there. I liked this story because the couple are of a similar age and I loved, loved the HEA.
This story was very well written with no spelling or grammatical errors. I give this story 5 stars and recommend this book. But maybe the reader needs to keep an open mind.

There comes a time in every spinster's life when she accepts there is no white knight riding to her rescue. When Miss Georgiana Conley's infamous, wealthy aunt offers to make her an heiress in exchange for her company, Georgiana is relieved she will no longer burden her impoverished family. But though her scandalous aunt has retired to the country, she's not quite as lonely as she's led Georgiana to believe. Stephan Laurent, Lord de Winter, is handsome, charming, and suspiciously devoted to a woman twice his age. He must have designs on Georgiana's inheritance. Though she immediately vows to chase the silver-tongued fortune hunter away, she soon questions whether she is protecting her aunt, her inheritance...or her heart.
This is the seventh book in the series but is easily read on its own. Whilst I liked Georgiana & Stephan I didn’t love them & I felt that there wasn’t much chemistry between them. I started the book & found my interest wandering so I left it for a while & went back to it but again my interest was tepid. I did like the premise of Stephan’s devotion to Millie & Georgiana’s reactions & assumption.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Thank you to Intrepid Reads for providing me this arc via Netgalley!
I didn't enjoy this at all. The characters were boring, didn't really have chemistry and I couldn't connect.

He fucked her aunt.... ummm I can't move past that. It's disgusting. I tried to get past that disturbing detail but I want to vomit.

The Wooing of a Wayward Rogue by Emma Locke

Georgiana is out of options. She has helped to raise her four younger sisters and doesn't want to be a burden to her brother, since she is a spinster. She is from a poor family in England and has no prospects for a husband. She decides to make a bargain with her scandalous Aunt Millie to become her companion, so that when Aunt Millie passes on, her estate would go to Georgiana.

Georgiana literally runs into Stephan Laurent, Lord de Winter at her Aunt Millie's house, when she arrives, to stay. It is a most uncomfortable situation.
Lord de Winter must marry a wealthy heiress, to satisfy his debts, particularly to his beloved sister Cassandra. He and Millie decide for him to sponser Georgiana and her younger sister Abigail, to launch them on the world and give both of them the wonderful opportunity to make a match with a dashing bachelor. That's when things get interesting.

The story is likeable, except, the names seem to be interchangeable. Bothers me when that happens, especially in eBooks. There is also raunchy, explicit sex in the book. Don't care for that, if I had known it was a part of the book, I never would have agreed to read it. Doubtful that I will read anything further in this series or by this author. It is also quite short. I like books that are approximately 250 pages.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary copy, I was under no obligation to post a review.

Its not your typical "girl seeks wealthy husband" storyline. The chemistry between character isn't 'cat and mouse' games at all times as you read so many times. Its more fire and ice. Nice strong characters with believable dialog. The relationships with the earls sister and Minnie make the story engaging without being long winded and boring. Solid novella.

I really enjoyed this historical romance story, Georgina at 35 resigns herself to becoming a companion to her aunt, never being a wife or mother. Stephen needs to marry a wealthy heiress to repay his sister her dowry which he gambled away, but as with all good romances fate has other ideas.
Cassandra is a real character, I think a new story brews there. Between them they work out a way for a happy ending for all.

It's a not at all realistic story, but let's face it, we wouldn't be reading a romance novel if we wanted realistic. It was nice to see the human emotions of the characters, but just a bit too steamy for my liking. Overall I decent enough story though it did leave several questions unanswered
