I loved Eva, especially her relationship with James, but her interactions with Godric were the best! This book had me laughing throughout. It is the first book I’ve read from this author, but I will definitely be reading more. Well written and very entertaining, I highly recommend it.

Fantastic follow-up book in this series! I loved every moment. Gosh did I laugh in this one. The events that occur certainly live up to the title and are sure to make this highly rated by many. I enjoyed the banter (arguing), chaos, steamy encounters and emotional heart to heart conversations. And I really love the stepmother! #netgalley #outrageous

Received a copy through NetGalley for an honest review. Outrageous by Minerva Spencer is Eva and Godric's story. After reading Notorious the first in the series I couldn't wait for Eva's story. Eva is a handful and does very foolish things without thinking it through. Like kidnapping Godric to foil another kidnapping she thinks is going to take place. I really liked Eva as the supporting best friend and sister but in the beginning of this book I didn't really like her. I thought she was careless, selfish and a petulant child. As for Godric he's not supposed to be likable at first because let's face it he was one of the villains in the first book. However I felt like both characters grew to be very likable together. As they are thrown into perilous danger over and over again I became very invested into who they were. And how they saw each other. I felt Minerva did a great job turning a villain into a hero, which can be a difficult task. I really enjoyed this tale especially after the characters became more likeable and I couldn't tell you when it happened it just crept up on me. Then I couldn't put the book down after that.

On a side note on side characters I would love for James and Andrew to get their own story. Or poor Paul he should get his Hea I felt so bad for Paul when he was in the cottage. Minerva does a great job on side characters even the antagonists are likable in a way. Great story over all.

The second in the Rebels of Ton series. Super fun and lovely romance. Picks up from prior characters in Notorious.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the early e-arc.*

Another great book in the ‘Rebels of the Ton’ series, which finds Eva de Courtney kidnapping Godric Fleming, only to find that her plans go astray. Whilst she initially decided to exact her revenge on him for having persecuted her brother, she finds herself attracted to him. Yet when Godric turns the tables and decides that they must marry, Eva starts to imagine what life could be like. The more time that Godric spends with Eva, the more he is enchanted but his past threatens to destroy any chance of happiness that they may have.
What makes this book interesting is that Godric goes from being the villain in the previous book, to someone quite noble. His story is a tragic one that Eva begins to unravel as they travel together. Whilst Eva is at times, incredibly intense, her love for Godric smooths out some of edges, and she begins to show a greater depth in character. Two very fascinating characters who together are better than they are apart.
This book has it all with romance and plenty of drama. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was much more fun than I expected. It has some Taming of the Shew undertones at first, but the hero grew on me quickly. The novel focuses on the heroine kidnapping the hero to keep him from kidnapping her best friend. Yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds, and that is not even the craziest thing that happens in the story. Those who like forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and only-one-bed stories, this has it all. I really liked the character development. I did not want to stop reading once I started. It is a nice change from romances set in the ballrooms of the ton.

This is the second book in the series, and it turns out I have not read the first. I definitely have to go back to do so now and see if it is as crazy-pants as this one is. I will definitely read the third book as well.

I received an advanced readers copy of this book from the publisher and Net Galley in return for a fair review.

Outrageous is the second book in the Rebels of the Ton series by Minerva Spencer. A steamy historical romance that sweeps you away to another place, another time. The characters are well-written and a storyline that is sure to keep you turning the pages. A quick-witted, entertaining period romance ensues, containing plenty of hijinks and odd but loveable characters!

Minerva Spencer has a way of writing unusual women characters. In this book, Outrageous, she has introduced us to the most outrageous character of all Eva de Courtney. Eva does not like the way her brother is being treated. Godric Fleming has worked on making his life miserable. So Eva does what she can to help out her brother, she kidnaps Godric.

Earl of Visal is Godric Fleming. In the beginning of this book he makes a remarkable change of mind and was no longer intent on revenge on a man willing to let things go. Due to the change he made, Eva de Courtney kidnapping him doesn't work out the way she thinks it's going to. We all know what happens when a Lady and the Lord are left together without proper chaperones, they are expected to marry. However Eva is not interested. She doesn't want another person who can take charge of her, she wants a person who can cherish and love her while allowing her her interests. Not something that usually happens during this time period.

While Outrageous is not the best of Minerva Spencer's books, I did enjoy the book. The premise definitely requires a leap of faith, as people do not change their points of view quite so quickly. However, Eva makes me laugh and her journey while being very ill-conceived did make for a different plot line. Outrageous by Minerva Spencer was a good read.

A wonderful and really enjoyable book!
To begin with, I must say that I didn’t read the previous book and even if this can be read as a stand alone, I felt like I missed something. So I’ll definitely buy Notorious to try to understand the characters better. The thing that confused me most is the hero’s change of mind, which seemed to come a little bit too abruptly at the beginning of the book. But after all he was just a good person turned villain by the circumstances, as it is revealed later. And I really LOVED how the author handled his internal struggles throughout the book. Godric turned out to be a very lovable dark hero!
The book is very very sensual, very steamy, and I loved it for that. The chemistry between Godric and Eva is so strong I just looked forward to seeing them together and I couldn’t help but skipping to the parts where they “interacted”, so to speak!
Unlike other reviewers, I didn’t mind the age difference at all, because Eva is clearly a grown woman with strong desires, but I would have preferred it if the author hadn’t insisted so much on it. At nineteen a woman was well prepared to marry and have children in those days, and, truth to tell, I thought it was Godric that behaved childishly at times. As for Eva, she was just behaving recklessly because of her past and her love for her brother.
I smiled and laughed quite a lot, too, while reading this book. And there’s also a bit of adventure that keeps the readers on the edge of their seats every now and then. But it’s the beautiful and poignant love story that I loved most.
Definitely worth reading.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Eva learns that Godric is planning to kidnap her brother's wife, Eva turns the tables and kidnaps Godric instead. But they don't get very far into their journey before he convinces her that she's ruined herself, and they'll have to marry. He promises to let her live an independent life, so she reluctantly goes along with the scheme. But a band of highwaymen sidetracks their trip to the Scottish border, and they're soon running for their lives.

Godric was the villain of NOTORIOUS, book 1 in this series. So making him the hero of this book was an interesting choice. This author is adept at redeeming unlikable characters, and she does so with Godric. He suffers from "male hysteria" (an archaic term for PTSD, maybe, although in this case his symptoms are more like traumatic grief). The author doesn't really explain how he suddenly "snaps out of it" and realizes his plan to kidnap Dru isn't sane. In the end, he's a flawed but heroic character worthy of an HEA.

Eva is delightful, even if she tends not to think things all the way through. She lives in the moment and trusts herself to get out of any scrapes she manages to get into. Which, it turns out, she's very good at.

The characters are well-developed, but ultimately, this is a plot-driven story. It's exciting from beginning to end. If you like the "kidnapping" and "on the road" tropes, this book is a good choice.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I love a good villain to hero story and Godric is the perfect subject. The first half of this book was so good and outrageous and I could not put it down, then the middle started and I found my mind wondering. The writing is very good but it just did not keep my interest. First off, Godric does a 180 out of nowhere. He should have at least been a little bad still. Secondly, I know that in the time period, age differences were quite common especially among arranged marriages. However, the age difference in this story was just a little creepy for me especially since it brought up over and over and over again. We learn the reasons for Godric’s behavior but it was not enough to keep the second half of the story enjoyable and the ending was wham bam thank you ma’am. Honestly, I am not sure if Godric really loved Eva. What I did love about the story was the dialog. It was smart, clever and very witty. I so wanted to love this story because Minerva is such a fantastic writer. I will continue with this series because Lord Ramsey’s son is up next.

This is the first series I read from Minerva Spencer and I am hooked! There is this perfect mix between the characters developing their feelings for each other, their emotional baggage prior to meeting, hot and sweet sex scenes and the whole situational context (kidnapping, having to marry, rain, highwaymen and more).

The characters are lovable (even if we kind of hated Godric in the Notorious), their whole dynamix is amazing. I absolutely loved the fact that even if Eva is young and a virgin, her stepmother had a complete sex education talk and she experimented by herself with her body. It was nice to read about a different first time from those you can generally find in Historical Romance books. And those scenes are definitely well written…

I loved the whole story and where the kidnapping brings the characters, you are definitely on your toes as you read the book. I could not put the book down until I read the last word.

I can’t wait to read the third book in this series and I will without a doubt read some of Spencer’s previous work.

A kidnapping turns into a comedy-of-errors elopement, in this second installment of Minerva Spencer's "Rebels of the Ton" series and I must say I liked these characters (Lord Visel & Eva) MUCH better than Gabriel & Drusilla from the first book.

Eva is a tad immature, overly-rebellious and annoying at times but Godric (Lord Visel) makes up for it in tragic backstory and general hunkiness. You'll be rooting for them to make it to Scotland.

The sex scenes are more plentiful and steamier in this book than the last too.

All around, it's just good fun and a series you'll want to "stay tuned" to.

Outrageous is a captivating, fun and rebellious regency romance from the first pages. Godric and Eva are exciting characters that keep you involved in their journey to love. Eva is fiery and impulsive, a natural foil to Godric's stoic and honourable person. They try very hard to hate each other but an undeniable attraction and need to belong and love is not so unattainable as they think. A well crafted romance by Minerva Spencer.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I learned that the villain from the previous book, Notorious, is the hero in this book. Sometimes authors manage to redeem a character spectacularly – and sometimes they don’t, so I was anxious to see how this redemption would go. In the first one percent of the book, it seems our hero had a complete personality transplant and became filled with remorse over what he’d previously done. Actually, I like the way the author handled the redemption – he sort of ‘awoke’ and realized what he’d done and even what he was still planning to do. He definitely wasn’t redeemed at that point, but it was a great beginning and as we slowly learn the reasons for his actions, we also come to understand the pain that caused him to go off the deep end. I know page time is limited in a book, but I would have loved to see a short scene, maybe in the epilogue or perhaps the last chapter, where he approaches Dru and Gabriel to apologize and ask for their forgiveness.

Eva de Courtenay is one of those bright, energetic, fun-loving, dedicated people who just make you tired by being around her (think of the Energizer bunny). She’s drop-dead gorgeous – and would argue with a fence post. Headstrong, heedless, and reckless don’t even begin to describe her, but she is also strong, resilient, resourceful, brave, and totally loyal to those she loves. You are going to absolutely love her!

When Eva learns the villain is still after her step-brother and his new wife, she makes a plan to thwart him. She’ll just kidnap him and take him north somewhere and strand him so that her step-brother and his family will already be out of London by the time he makes it back to London. She seems to have forgotten that the man was a soldier for over a dozen years and is pretty resourceful himself. Of course, nothing in any of that scenario could go wrong – right?

Godrick Fleming, Earl of Visel, heir to the Duke of Tyndale, has had a horrendous time of it over the last few years. I won’t tell you all of it because that would spoil the book’s revelations for you. Just suffice it to say, if any of us had been through what he has, we’d probably go off the deep end as well. With good reason, he never plans to marry or have children, and yet, he’s been knocked out, kidnapped, and now he is on the Great North Road with a beautiful young woman who has him tied up and at her mercy. The young woman is totally oblivious to the fact that they must now marry or she will be totally ruined. Uh Oh.

This was a fun read – after I got past all of the age references. Those references were throughout the book and it often made me want to throw the book against the wall. Godrick is 17 years older than Eva and today we’d think of him as a cradle robber, but in that period, it wasn’t particularly uncommon. Also, it wasn’t like he had any real choice in the matter and since they needed to marry, was it supposed to be a chaste marriage? So – mention the age difference, deal with it, and then get on with the story.

I loved all of the wit and humor both of the main characters displayed. Their banter and ‘arguments’ were often priceless. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced, well-written story filled with many, many mishaps along their trek toward Scotland. It seems as if anything that could happen, did happen. I also loved the supporting characters – especially Andrew and James who were both loyal employees and friends who enabled the adventures and helped resolve the issues.

The only reason I rated this book lower is because of the constant references to age. I got very tired of it because I often felt as if it were mentioned several times on each page. It definitely wasn’t that often, but it was so often that I started to groan each time it came up. It added nothing to the romance and didn’t move the story along, so there was no reason for the author to have fixated on it quite so much.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A great second book in the Rebels of the Ton series. Stunningly beautiful and outrageously unladylike Lady Eva de Courtney kidnaps Godric Fleming, Earl of Visel to thwart his plans to continue his harassment of her bother Gabriel (as described in book #1 Notorious)….chaos, and eventually, love ensues. I couldn’t put it down.

I was so excited for this story after the first one left us with such a cliffhanger. If you haven’t read the first I think you could still enjoy this story, but the transformation of Godric’s character would make better sense.

Honestly I was a little worried about how this would turn out because I absolutely did not like Godric, after the Dru and Gabe’s story but I really
loved Eva and Godric’s story! As the story went on I became team Godric all the way. Still not excusing what he did in the first book, but why he did it makes better sense. I also loved him and Eva together with all their bickering. 😂

I can not wait to read the third book now.

Outrageous by Minerva Spencer
Book #2: Rebels of the Ton Series
Source: NetGalley and Kensingtion
Rating: 4½/5 stars

Eva de Courtney has gotten herself to a heap of trouble in the past, but her current situation might be the crowning glory of her young life. With every intention of saving her brother and new sister-in-law from a true fiend, Eva kidnaps a high-ranking member of society with no real thought to the consequences of her actions.

Eva de Courtney has long known she isn’t truly cut out for the life she leads. She’s beautiful beyond compare, she’s titled, and she’s wealthy, but she’s also the daughter of a notoriously insane woman. Eva long ago accepted she’ll likely never marry and that is just fine with her. Given the acceptance of her future, Eva uses her title and position in society to outspokenly defend her own beliefs and the lives and reputations of those she loves.

Thinking her plan would be relatively simple to execute and be done with, Eva doesn’t count on all the dangers along the way. From brigands to the sexually suggestive innkeeper to Godric himself, Eva quickly finds herself in way over head. Godric is not at all what Eva expected and finding herself attracted to him is a most disconcerting state. What’s more, the arrogant fool is now insisting he “do the right thing” and marry Eva, a consequence of her own ill-conceived plan. To get herself out of the mess she’s in, Eva will have to use all her wits, courage, and intellect all while protecting her heart.

The Bottom Line: I’ve said it a thousand times before and I’m saying it again, I will always love a book with a woman ahead of her time and place. I like the women who make an effort to stand apart from the crowd, who use their knowledge rather than hide it, and don’t rely on their beauty to advance their goals in life. Eva may be a bit impulsive, but her heart is in the right place, and she certainly doesn’t lack the courage or conviction to see her schemes through to the end. Once again, the author has created a man perfect for the heroine, a man with no interest in snuffing out her character and/or personality but helping Eva to become all she is capable of being. It will be interesting to see the dynamics between Eva and Godric grow and strengthen as this series (hopefully) continues!

Lord Visel Godric Fleming was a villain in the previous book and somehow changed his personality overnight. Lady Eva de Courtney kidnapped him to save her brother and best friend from being hurt.
She ends up continuing with Godric. He has told her she was ruined, and she is, but he is very much older than she is and treats her as a child. Why would he want to marry her? They really have nothing in common but sex. Which keeps lingering in his mind.
I love Minerva Spencer's writing. But this one not so much. maybe if their ages weren't so far apart.
Not to mention his personality switch.
There is a lot of adventure in the tale more kidnappings, betrayal, and robbers. Despite all, it is written.

** spoiler alert ** I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Before I read Outrageous by Minerva Spencer, I read the first book, Notorious. While I did not love either book, I must say that I enjoyed the plot of Outrageous more. I liked that there was more adventure in this book. A cross-country kidnapping and the antics that ensue.

One of my biggest problems was that the main male character is constantly referring to the female lead as a child! I get that they are 17 years apart in age (which was already a turn-off for me), but it added a creep factor… especially when they began to become intimate with each other and he still thought of her as a child and talked to her like a child.

I also did not feel like the characters fell in love as so much as they fell into lust. Not to say there is anything wrong with that, but I am not convinced that they were as in love as to have the ending the book had… Duty and all that included.

Discounting those two things, I did like the plot of the story. I liked Eva’s boldness and rashness for the most part. She seemed, to me, stubborn and strong in equal measure. At first, it was difficult to get past Godric’s behavior from the first book, but I think that it helped me to think of him as Godric and not Visel. Barring the creep factor, I liked the character and finding out his story bit by bit. It definitely helped to understand him.

A 3.5-star review from me.
