I wanted to love this book as much as I did Notorious (the first book of this series). I loved Eva in the first book, but I hated Godric, which may be part of the issue I had with this book. Outrageous picks up where Notorious left off, with Godric and Eva in a carriage, after Eva has kidnapped him. Eva is headstrong, and has no interest in marrying or having a family. Yet, after a few days of being stuck, alone, with Godric, she falls in love with him. The story, and especially the romance, felt somewhat forced & unbelievable.

This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author.

Rebels of The Ton #2, Outrageous picks-up where Notorious, Rebel of The Ton, #1's cliffhanger left us - Eva kidnapping Godric!

Days adrift in a carriage through the muddy countryside turns these enemies into friends and eventually lovers. The quick to anger Eva soon learns the backstory to Godric's constant harassment of her brother and why his heart is so broken. Through all the mud, shenanigans and arguments, together they slowly shift their lens to truly see each other - Eva's stunning beauty and passions and Godric's fear of loving and losing again.

Outrageous is a quick witted read, full of hijinks and I look forward to Book #3, Infamous. Strongly recommend the reader select the books in order to read.

Thank you Kensington Books for a complimentary copy of Outrageous for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Rebels of the Ton series and Eva de Courtney is most definitely a rebel. Obsessed with horses, indifferent to balls or pretty clothes, and haunted by the rumors and beauty of her dead mother, Eva has never fit into the high society she was born into. After Eva’s brother and her best friend are forced to marry due to the actions of Godric Fleming, she decides to investigate the man herself. When Eva uncovers a plot by Godric to punish Eva’s brother Gabe by kidnapping Drusilla, Eva springs into action and kidnaps Godric before he can do something very stupid.

This novel wrestles with some pretty complicated subject matter including one-sided love, childless marriage, and madness. (At least madness as in was understood in early 1800s England.)

Eva has, hands down, the world’s best stepmother. Even though they’ve only known each other for a few years, Mia has taken it upon herself to love Eva, Catherine, and Melissa as her own. This means guiding them through life based on Mia’s own life experiences. Given that Mia spent nearly two decades as a prisoner at a sultan’s palace as part of his harem, her advice is often, shall we say, unconventional for that time. She not only informs the girls exactly what happens between a man and a woman, Mia also explains that it is very possible for a woman to experience pleasure from the act. She also encourages each of them to explore her own body. In addition to lessons on bedroom sport, Mia tries to always listen to her daughters and be supportive of their goals. Except when that goal is avoiding love. In that case, all bets are off.

Overall, I liked the story—especially the sections that include past characters like Mia, Adam, Drusilla, and Gabe. I will say that I had a hard time connecting with both Eva and Godric. Personally, I enjoyed Notorious more. That being said, the next book in the series is about Richard, who I’ve had a soft spot for ever since he was introduced at age ten in Barbarous. Also, I’m ridiculously excited that Richard is an entomologist. Bug people represent!

Really loved this novel - I fell in love with both Eva and Godric, although they both had their faults. The ending was a bit rushed - I felt like Godric hadn't worked out his feelings from the tragedies of the war quite fully by the end of the book. Overall, though, I loved the story and highly recommend.

Eva de Courtney kidnaps Godric Fleming, Lord Visel, vowing to keep the scoundrel away from her brother and sister in law. When Eva's madcap plans are foiled, Godric insists on marrying her to preserve her reputation. Their journey is plagued with delays and troubles, and the two struggle to keep their frustrations and attraction at bay.

This is the second book in the Rebels of the Ton series. I recommend reading the books in order, as Godric was a villain in the previous story. Although I had read the first one, there were many details that I had forgotten.

I struggle with rating this story because there were things I really liked, and things that frustrated me. Eva is 19 and Godric is 37 or 38. The age gap is very much a part of the plot and Eva behaves in a childish manner through a good portion of the book. I love road trip hijinks, but the pacing felt a bit off...for me, some parts dragged while others wrapped up too quickly. There were great love scenes, but I wanted more falling in love not only into bed. I did enjoy the twists in the last portion of the book. (3.5 stars)

There is so much more to this book than the description blurb indicates. In the beginning Eva is very whiny and naïve and so over-the-top that I disliked her, but she becomes more mature as the book goes on. Godric is our typical handsome hero who shows he is capable of being strong as well as kind. The plot starts out being rather tame and then all kinds of action takes over. So there are some surprises as well as twists. I highly recommend this book as well as others by Minerva Spencer.

Even if I was not enjoying this series I think I might acquire the books just because of their pretty covers!

Outrageous is the second in the series and, just like the first, I enjoyed the story and the characters. There were a few slow moments along the way but there was a lot of excitement as well and the ending was delightful. Surprisingly you can learn an awful lot about breeding race horses as well. That is if you ever wanted to!

The epilogue sets the scene for the next book which I am looking forward to reading,

Okay, Godric had a complete personality change from the first book, Notorious. He went from being a total jackass to wanting to protect the reputation of Eva even after she kidnapped him? Totally not believable. But I was willing to put that aside for the sake of this story.

Sadly there was too much sex and not enough falling in love first. There was a bit of backstory to explain Godric's actions but that left me wanting to know more and that did not happen. I liked the parts that were from Eva's viewpoint best and the addition of Andrew and James was entertaining, especially at the end.

This did not live up to the first book (Notorious) but I think I would still be willing to read the next book.

Minerva Spencer's Outrageous surprised me in all the best ways! After reading Notorious (the first of the Rebels of the Ton series), I couldn't understand how Spencer could pair Eva up with Lord Visel. Even now I still have my misgivings about the premise, but the truth of the matter is that this novel was chock full of all the things that I love most in a romance: strong women, witty banter, well rounded side characters, and a healthy dose of vulnerability between our main characters. Once I started reading, I genuinely struggled to put it down. And if you haven't read Notorious, it's really no biggie! This can absolutely be read as a standalone.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Eva kidnapped Godric to keep him the persecution of her brother. The tables are turned however when Godric takes over and takes her hostage instead.
This outrageously funny and poignant story is amazing.
Minerva Spencer writes a humorous and treacherous story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

The second book in the Rebels of the Ton series, Outrageous picks up where Notorious left off.

Godric Fleming was planning on helping with a kidnapping only to change his mind and be kidnapped himself! Eva de Courtney just wants Godric to leave her family alone, so she kidnaps him. The tables keep turning (who has kidnapped who at this point?) and soon Godric has told Eva they must get married as soon as possible.

It was really interesting premise but I just couldn't get into it. I had the same issue with Notorious and thought I'd enjoy this one more from the synopsis, but I'm not giving up on this series and do plan to read the next book.

Eva de Courtney's behavior certainly is described by the title of this book. It is OUTRAGEOUS. Raised by an absentee father and later by an unconventional stepmother, she doesn't follow the rules of society. Eva is very loyal to those she loves. When she feels that her stepbrother and his new wife, who is also her best friend, are being threatened by Godric Fleming she kidnaps him. This is their start through a series of events that bring them closer together. I read an ARC of this story provided by NetGalley and chose to leave a review.

I am definitely a fan of Minerva Spencer and this book didn't disappoint.
Godric has been after Eva's brother, even forcing Gabe into marrying Eva's best friend. In order to twart his latest plan she kidnapps Godric. However , he soon gains the upper hands and insist they have to marry since she will be seen as ruined.
There were parts the Eva got on my nerves with her constant childish fighting but overall I liked her.
Godric was also irritating at times but the biggest issue I has was the age difference. Eva is 19 and has had 1 season, whereas Godric is in his mid 30s and while I know that isn't exception at the time, the fact that Godric kept thinking it made it stand out more.
Overall I still liked them as a couple.

A wonderful sequel with the right banter, swoon, and historical feel! Really excited to read the next book!

This is the second in the series and a carry on from the first. This book can be read as a stand-alone story. It was a wonderful read with mystery, adventure, angst, humour and romance. I loved this couple, they were not your typical ton H and h but ones that just didn’t fit in. The age difference made you wonder how this was going to work out but of course, Ms Spencer has a way with words that you kept you reading wondering where the story would take you next. All the characters were wonderfully written and brought to life with their wit and humour. There were a few sex scenes that this reviewer as usual skipped but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. I now look forward to the next in the series. I received this book as an ARC and freely give my review.

I have to say I was not a fan of both of these main characters when I was introduced to them.

Eva seemed childish and ready to start an argument over anything. Godric seemed like the biggest fool of them all but after learning more about them I chbaged my opinion.

I loved that although this is a historical romance or wasn't traditional.

I did have a issue with the age gap... It was hard for me to get a handle on it.

That the step-mother wasn't traditional in her upbringing of Eva.

The little surprise and twist were a delight

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and this is my honest review. Originally, when I've requested the book, it was because I’ve got caught up with the blurb of the story, however, once I started reading it, I realised two things: first, every time the MCs took a step forward in their relationship, something the other said would put them right back at the starting line. Second, each had their one baggage and it’s fully understandable (Godric has been a soldier for most of his life and Eva with her mother’s story) but they got so lost in their heads that it was difficult sometimes to follow the story.
The book tells us the story between Eva de Courtney, who kidnaps Earl Godric Fleming (mostly known through the book as Lord Visel) in order to give her brother and sister in law a chance in their relationship. However, this action instantly backfires and she finds herself going crosscountry to Scotland in order to save her and Godric’s reputation. What should have been a funny and fast paced story, sometimes got stuck by their actions and their insecurities.

This is the 2nd book in a series where I haven’t read the first book so I’ll be reading out of order. When a book starts with a kidnapping it really grabs your attention. And that’s only the beginning because there’s a lot going on. A fun story with some good banter and main characters with a lot of chemistry and some adventure. It was my first read by the author and now I’ll read the first book and likely later when it comes out I’ll read the upcoming 3rd book in the series.
