This is the first book that I have read by Betty Hechtman and anyone who knows me knows that I love books, animals, and a great Cozy Mystery series! How I have missed reading this author is beyond me. I quickly became immersed in this story and the main character Molly's life and romance issues. The plotline was very original, death by a Drone dumping a pile of smelly seafood on the victim? Molly just happens to be present at this crime scene and her former love interest Detective Barry Greenberg just happens to arrive on the scene.

Molly has a complicated life at the present, her son Peter and pregnant girlfriend have moved in and taken over her house, Peter did not endear himself to me at all. Molly has a wonderful new love interest Mason but he may be too perfect and Detective Barry keeps finding ways to make himself relevant in Molly's life.

I enjoyed the plot, characters, and setting of the book. I found the antics of the Tarzana Hookers hilarious! The villain in the book took me by surprise and Molly Pink is one clever and funny sleuth. I find myself wanting to read more of this series. There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end so I look forward to the next installment. In the meantime, I will go back and read the series from the beginning.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters. The mystery is interesting and the investigating top notch. It's fast paced without any slow spots. I was surprised by who the bad guys were. #OnefortheHooks #NetGalley

Not up to her usual standards. This story still holds charm, for a die-hard fan. If you like the setting and enjoy the characters from the other Tarzana hooker novels you will probably enjoy this title as well. But it lacks sparkle, and seems a bit uninspired. Molly Pink is still a fun character, though. Perhaps just a little too much going-through-the-motions in this one.

This is another favorite by a great author. The plot of the story was very well written. The author really draws the reader in as you read. I felt like I was an unnamed character in the story.

This is the first I have read in Betty Hechtman's A Crochet Mystery series. It was fun to go to The Valley and visit the haunts of my past. Molly Pink has issues that are difficult in her personal life, not the least of which is a difficult child moving home with a pregnant girlfriend. When an acquaintance is murdered in front of her former love interest police detective Barry is back in her sphere confusing her feelings for Mason, who wants to take her away from her current life. Although not perfectly plausible it was a great and enjoyable escape with a surprising ending that has haunted me for days. I can hardly wait for more.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This was a light-hearted cozy read. I read several books at the beginning of this series, and then I drifted away. They're definitely a bit outlandish! But coming back to the series, it was nice to catch up with Molly and her Hookers (crochet hookers--get your mind out of the gutter). The mixture of crochet, murder, and drones is a kind of irresistible mash-up! The dialog and relationships don't feel exactly real, but it makes for a fun escape from the real world. You know, my day may not be great, but I'm not being attacked by a drone, at least!

One for the Hooks by Betty Hechtman is about Tarzana Hookers crochet club. While Molly Pink knits together an idea for a new project, Miami Wilson busily converts a house she inherited into a rental property. But Miami is left shorthanded when Sloan Renner, the woman helping her clean out the house ends up dead under a pile of smelly seafood. Witnesses clam up when Molly's ex, homicide detective Barry Greenberg, tries to get information, but he thinks Molly may be able to get them to open up to her. When Molly learns about Sloan's seafood allergy, she suspects that the woman's death was no accident and decides to solve the mystery. This is a good book for a weekend read.

I loved, no LOVED, this book! It lifted my spirits and got me out of a case of SAD. I was transported from the snow to the warmth of a Southern California summer of my youth. No politics, no nonsense just a great cozy mystery that was enjoyable from the first page and with the right ending!

Molly is at it again, finding herself in yet another crime scene and involved in yet another case. I really enjoyed the mystery in this one and boy that ending! I could not put this down!

Humor and mystery are the perfect combinations, and "One for the Hooks" fits the bill.

What a great cozy mystery. The characters are well-crafted and the storyline is easy to follow.

This author hit a home run. Great read.

Witty, enjoyable read like a cozy mystery book should read. Characters who make you laugh, you find relatable and enjoy their story make it that much more enjoyable. Now if I could only crochet...

I loved this book. Lots of surprises all the way to the last page. My first book by Betty Hechtman, but won’t be my last.

I normally really like books from this author. I did enjoy parts of this book. Those parts had to do with "filler". The everyday interactions of Molly and the other characters.. The parts of the story that I felt were a let-down were the actual description of the murder scene. It was messy and confusing and didn't entirely make sense. How did Sloan get hit on the head and die and the police showed up so fast- before Molly even realized she was dead? The final confrontation scene was also not well thought out and a bit inconceivable when you look at the order and speed at which things happened. I enjoy the characters in the book but the actual mystery needed some better plotting.

I just reviewed One for the Hooks by Betty Hechtman. #OnefortheHooks #NetGalley

I have not read the previous titles in this series but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Molly Pink, in her capacity as an assistant manager at a book/craft store is offered a cache of specialty yarns. When she and a group of helpers go to look over the yarn a member their party of crafters is killed in what appears to be a drone accident. Molly becomes convinced it was no accident and is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death. While this is going on she is also dealing with a son who moved into her house unexpectedly, two men in her life and what to do with the yarn.

I can usually figure out whodunnit but this book surprised me with the culprit. I recommend this book but only gave it 4 stars because of a few typos which don't detract from the story being told. It's well worth reading.

Molly Pink is back at it as tries to help her ex Barry solve a murder. This was a fun mystery that is fast paced and easy to read. It has a love triangle type situation going on. I wasn’t thrilled with Molly’s sons character and the ending didn’t seem realistic. Overall a great addition to the series. I love the crochet group!

New Projects Abound....
The fourteenth Crochet mystery and Molly has a new project, as does Miami with her house conversion. However when an unexpected death occurs chaos ensues. Enjoyable entry to this series which has a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters as well as a few wholly unlikeable! There did appear to be much telling rather showing in this particular episode but still fun and escapist reading.

I cannot believe this is my first Betty Hechtman book, it surely will not be my last. Molly Pink finds herself in the middle of a strange accident that claimed the life of her friend Sloan but was it an accident? Pink begins investigating the incident, the neighbors, book group members and creeping around backyards to get to the bottom of this mystery. This was a well written, cozy mystery that was fast paced.

Molly has a comfortable life. A middle-aged widow, she works in a local bookstore-slash-yarn shop, is seeing a high-power attorney, and lives alone with several cats and dogs. Until her son moves in with his very pregnant girlfriend. When a horrible, stinky accident causes the death of one of her friends, how could she not try to help. Even if it means working with her ex.

I was drawn to this book because of it's crocheting theme and was pleased to see it play such an important role in the story. However, I had a difficult time making it through the book. One of the things that I found irsksome was the narration. I felt the main character was constantly repeating herself. Several characters were introduced multiple times, right into the final chapters, each time as if it were the first. There were also many scenes that were summarized when I would have liked to have seen the action and dialogue instead.

Without giving too much away, I will say that I was disappointed with the ending. I thought the method used to get the "bad guy" to tell the truth was a little far-fetched. I also didn't like the way the love triangle was resolved. While it is obvious whom Molly chooses, I would have liked to see the repercussions of her choice with the other guy. This might be one of the stories for the next book in this series, but I walked away feeling as if the story was not quite complete.

Molly is being pulled in many directions in this book. Though I previously stopped reading this series at book 5, I don’t feel like I missed enough backstory to keep me from following this book. All the same characters are present, and their quirks and foibles haven’t changed. The relationships between Molly and Barry and Molly and Mason have evolved, and at the end you’re in for a big surprise!

I personally love to crochet and I love reading cozy mysteries about people who crochet, especially in such a great atmosphere as the bookstore where Molly works. Molly‘s son Peter returns home in this book with a pregnant girlfriend and no job prospects. Things start off rough but Molly knows when to put her foot down and went to back off. One thing I did miss in this book was Molly‘s mom and her singing group, they were on tour and didn’t show up until the last few chapters.

This is a consistently really good series. If you haven’t read all the books I think you can read them out of order and still keep track of everything that’s going on.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.
