This was an interesting read, based on a series of letters, diary entries and newspapers articles from the hit and run incident. It was heavy on facts and very enlightening showing the hardships of colonialism and how terribly the indigenous were treated by the white settlers. It showed too how desperately hard the settlers were worked to take the area from those there before them and make a success of the endeavour. The story was disjointed though, the history while interesting, was not well woven into the storyline. I learned a lot but found it didn't read too smoothly at times.
