This Shining Life by Harriet Kline. A beautifully written book dealing with Rich’s prognosis of brain tumour, his death and the grief of his loved ones.
It is written from the viewpoint of Ruth, his wife, Ollie, his son, his parents Gerald & Marjorie and Ruth’s mother & sister, Angram & Nessa. I think the author has been overly ambitious with so many viewpoints but so well written that it pays off.
Overall a lovely book about love, loss and family with flawed characters but ultimately it didn’t quite pack the emotional punch I expected.

This was beautiful! I absolutely loved the character work, I felt like I would have wanted expanded focus on some of the social issues touched upon though but still really enjoyed this one. I would just caution readers if you are not in the mood for something slower paced, maybe save this for another day!
