Read this with a 3 year old. I personally loved the illustrations - they did look a little like pandas to me, but the 3 year old recognized them as raccoons!

I loved the moral behind the story. But I wish the big and little raccoon would have had a moment where they apologized for losing their tempers with each other.

This was cute. It teaches kids to be patient and in friendships/relationships you can’t only do what you want to do but also what the other person wants or needs to do. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC I received.

The illustrations in this book are very well done. The writing is aimed at a young child around 6-9 the story it's self is very engaging for it's set age group. Big and little racon go through an adventure together. It also deals with emotions which are extremely important. It also teaches the importance of helping others.

Little Raccoon and Big Raccoon loved to go walking together, they’d climb hills and slide off them together. Sometimes little raccoon got tired and big raccoon would carry him on his back. One day they were headed to their picnic spot and came upon a snail. While little raccoon wanted to watch the snail climb over a rock, big raccoon grew impatient and angry. To a snail, a rock was a mountain. Little raccoon and big raccoon went their separate ways. After taking time to cool down, they both heading back to the spot where they argued. The snail was still there and hadn’t made any progress, big raccoon came up with an idea to help the snail. Seeing this little snail decided he no longer wanted to ride on big raccoon’s back. They went off to their picnic hand in hand.

While I think this story is good about problem solving and taking time to cool off. I would’ve like to see the raccoons apologize to each other for being angry.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved the illustrations, even though I thought Big and Little were pandas with tails - at one point I realized they were raccoons, and they were still very cute (and still very much pandas in my head). Gorgeous illustrations.

What I did not really like was... the conflict between them. It doesn't really make sense or maybe something got lost in the translation, but I think because of how rushed and weird the conflict is, the main lesson of the book gets lost. The story doesn't really flow. But the illustrations were great!

This book was recently translated from Dutch into English. The illustrations are cute, but I couldn't help thinking that the racoons looked more like pandas with long tails.

This book sadly didn't work for me. To be honest, it sounds as thought it was written by a child, especially when Big Raccoon and Little Raccoon have their disagreement. Due to the way it was written, the message the author intended to portray gets somewhat lost.

Children will still enjoy this book, but I don't think it will be one that is read time and time again.

I received a free digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing.

I loved the moral of the story, and I really enjoyed the illustrations. My son wasn’t really into it, but he’s only eight months old so even though we read every day I think without the cadence of most kids books it didn’t hold his attention. I would definitely read it to him again when he’s older or purchase for his older friends :)

This had really good illustrations and characters that kids will definitely love. I felt like the premise of learning what you are capable of on your own was a good one to start with. But the message did get a little muddled by the end of the story, and didn’t feel like it was resolved in a sound manner.

“Big and Little”, by Yang Hang is a cute friendship story between a big raccoon and a little raccoon. Their friendship is challenged when they have a disagreement about helping a snail get over a rock or having the patience to let the snail get there in his own time. The two need to try to see things through each other’s perspectives and put their pride aside in order to save their friendship.

The illustrations are very cute and the message is sweet. Most importantly, the message of the book is a great conversation starter with children of pre-school and lower elementary school age about having patience and valuing the actions of those younger than them, be it friends or siblings. Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is a sweet book with gorgeous illustrations that teaches little ones about compromise and how to take a break and move on from being upset with someone.
Many thanks to Clavis Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Young readers would enjoy this book about two raccoons who learn that sometimes they need to let their friends figure out things for themselves. It is important for youngsters to realize they need to be independent, and I think this book did a great job touching on the subject.

What a cute story for little kids. The author was able to capture the different perspectives of three different characters. It showed how we can see the same situation, but interpret it completely differently.

Big and Little is a sweet little story about two friends, one big and one little. They go on a picnic with Big Raccoon helping Little Raccoon all along the way. When they meet a snail trying to climb over a rock, Little Raccoon realizes that small friends can do big things too. But when Big Raccoon doesn't agree with Little Raccoon they fight and go their separate ways. By the end both friends realize the importance of helping without doing the task for the other person.
This is a cute story about friendship and what it means to help someone. A great story to help teach younger children that they can do big things on their own, with just a little bit of help. The pictures are beautifully done.

A book about learning when your help is helpful and when it isn't. I enjoyed the illustrations and the message both.

Big Raccoon and Little Raccoon have a disagreement about when to help someone, and what it means to help. This would be a great book for children struggling with learning how to be helpful without being overbearing with younger siblings, and for teaching younger children positive self-advocacy skills about asserting independence. The illustrations are cute and the book is brief enough to allow for conversation about the topic within a child's attention span.

Two Racoon friends go on a walk together but an argument threatens to ruin a lovely walk. But their friendship prevails. The story is a bit confusing and I was left questioning what the message of the story was. The language was odd. The illustrations are beautiful.

This book was precious. The friendship between Big and Little Raccoon was so sweet and the story made me smile. I love the relationship between the raccoons and their little adventure. The illustrations are stunning. The art is so charming and matches the story perfectly. It's a beautiful story that I would read to my friend's kids. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I liked the art style in this book, I feel like it is something that will catch a child’s eye and keep them enthralled with the story.

The messages in this were good too though I wish they had gone into the anger message a little bit more. I liked the message about comprising though.

This was a solid read and I would definitely recommend it for people with kids!

3/5 ⭐️
