Whilst I adored the series for some reason I couldn’t remind reading this book and the third one so I thought I would do a re-read as I’m missing these characters. Gideon and Eva have a special place in my heart and I loved this series because of the pleasure and the opportunities it gave me . It is one of the few series that I would re read over and over.
The second book doesn’t let up . Whilst I didn’t read the first book prior, it was like revisiting old friends. It was easy to fall back into the world of Gideon and Eva. There was a lot going on with this book. Secrets and insecurity ruled this book.
Gideon was the master and he was ruling things his way. I wanted to him to let up a little bit in this novel. He was carrying this mysterious air thanks to the secrets and it didn’t’ help given things. Eva was a mess at times because of this. She was used almost but then he was so wonderful in other ways. It wasn’t exactly a happy medium that I could agree with. Eva was so reliant on Gideon in this novel and whilst I hated it . It did come useful given Eva wasn’t in a place to deal with Carey exactly.
However things changed and I loved how Day challenged things as there was a lot going aside from the things mentioned. With past ex’s making appearances and opening up on wounds. It was hard not to hold my breath and wonder if they could overcome things. Too many things happened and it wouldn’t be a Crossfire novel right and I’m glad this didn’t end with three books. There was too much unsaid and unanswered.
The pieces were started to fall to place but Reflected To You sigh. The full range of emotions that Day put you through with this novel. It hard yet it so good, it only reaffirmed why I love this series.
