"Ace of Spade" immediately gives off dark prep school vibes, much like a twisted Gossip Girl. The characters are cutthroat and superficial (in the most entertaining way) and immediately there is intrigue from the new and secretive headmaster.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the sneak peak at the first few chapters of this book!
I was definitely drawn in by the gorgeous cover art. From the first few chapters, I am intrigued by the setting and the characters. The cut-throat social environment of the private school, but featuring Black teens as main characters. I also love that there is queer representation in this book. I didn't realize that this was classified as a thriller, so I'm very curious to see where the story will go!

Reminiscent of titles like Gossip Girl, this sneak pic is fantastic!! I can't wait for the book to hit the shelves next month!!!
I'd like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for this sneak peak.

Thank you to the publisher for this sample!
I really enjoyed what I read from this novel. I liked how the two perspectives where almost clashing with one another. I was not quite sure if I was gonna love the female perspective but I understand why she was written this way and I'm willing to pick up the rest of the novel once it comes out. I'm very intrigued by the premise of this novel and I hope it lives up to what I read so far.

I started Ace of Spades not knowing anything about the book but I’m intrigued! Devon is a quiet and interesting character, but the complete opposite of Chiamaka, who’s confident and ambitious. Although I only read a short sample, I love how suspenseful the plot is and I like that the book talks about the struggles of minorities, especially within the education system. I also like that the two main characters are opposites because we get to read two sides of the story. I cannot wait till this book is released. I know it will do really well.

A very interesting sneak peak and I am definitely hyped to read the full novel as soon as I can. There wasn't a lot to work with but it has some real promise and I can't wait to delve further into this world soon.

I only got an exclusive sneak peak for this book but I am so excited to read it! I already like Devon's character, and I am very curious to see where the plot goes.

Thanks to Netgalley for the sneak peek of this book. I've heard a lot about Ace of Spades and I hope the book will be good and have a satisfying ending! Can't wait to go through the full-length book!

i can't really judge this book after reading 25 pages but i really did love it. it sounded really interesting AND the ending of this preview oh my god i want to read this book as soon as possible ! the black representation in this book is amazing and im really looking forward to this ! thankyou netgalley

Thank you to Netgalley for granting me this sneak peak!
I'm honestly so intrigued to read the full-length novel now. I was interested in the book before, but this is what convinced me that I need to read Ace of Spades as soon as it gets released.
Ace of Spades is a YA thriller and we are following two characters, Devon and Chiamaka. They are both students at Niveus Private Academy where no one is less then perfect. Until now when their dark secrets start being shared by an anonymous texter, Aces.
I read only the first 3 chapters, but I'm already in love with this book and it's probably one of those books that I will read in one sitting. It's definitely a page turner.
By the end of those 20 or so pages the mystery was only getting started and we got this very small teaser as to what we will encouter in the story. I loved what I've read, from the characters to the way the plot was getting started, and I'm so hyped to read the whole book when it will be released in June!

I was only granted a sneak peek of Ace of Spades and sadly I was let down. I had such high hopes. Maybe it was because I was only able to read the first few chapters but I wasn't captivated by the plot and the characters seemed pretty one dimensional and typical of the "popular kid" and "loner kid" stereotypes. I plan to still read the full story when the book is released but I'm a little hesitant.

Just based upon the short summary provided from NetGallery, I can already tell this book is going to be a new favorite book. The set up for the story is incredible, and for all those who have been looking for something to fill the Gossip Girl void, this is perfect.
Definitely my most anticipated read for the summer!

I’ve read a number of excellent YA mysteries in the past couple of years, and that has made me a bit picky. I always approach with caution and don’t get overexcited, to avoid disappointment.
I wasn’t sure about this one when I read the first chapter, but the second and third added more dimension to the characters, and between the ending of chapter 3 and the fact that I have a weakness for academic settings, I am now hooked and can’t wait for this book to come out!

The Ace of Spades has Pretty Little Liar and Gossip Girl vibes (two of my favorite shows as a teen).
The setting is a private school called Niveus Academy filled with ivy-legue-bound students. The story is told in the POVs of Devon Richards and Chiamaka Adebayo who are selected Senior Prefect and Head Prefect respectively. Someone who goes by Aces begins sending anonymous texts to them, revealing their secrets.
I was given an ARC of the first three chapters and I’m completely hooked already. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this book in June!

This is fantastic, for being only a sampler I'm so invested. I can definitely see this being on my best of 2021 list. Black, and queer main characters is definetly something the dark academia sub-genre really needs and im so glad its being done by an ownvoices author.

I am so intrigued by this sneak peak! I absolutely have to know what happens next. This book will definitely be a reason to break my "no book buying until I finish my growing pile" rule! Definitely put this on your radar!

I really enjoyed this sneak peak of one of my most anticipated releases! the end of chapter 3 was very interesting, I’m very intrigued to find out what’s going to happen next and cannot wait for june 10th to read the rest.

3 stars *may change
I'm not sure how to rate a 23-page sneak peek of a full-length novel? I mean, I'm interested, but also it didn't give me a lot to work with lol. The peek reads a lot like middle grade to me, which isn't necessarily bad since I really enjoy middle grade, but I really wasn't expecting it. Ah, well, I'm still excited to read the full thing.
(Arc read)

The story takes place at Niveus Private Academy where we follow two characters Devon who is musically inclined and Chiamaka who is headstrong and unafraid. When they are ready for the start of a new school year an anonymous texter named Aces threatens to unveil their dark secrets.
Although I only read a preview I was thoroughly impressed and excited by this work. The differences between the two main characters - Devon and Chiamaka were refreshing and it felt like their traits complemented each other. The dark academia plot seems very exciting and this concept is absolutely novel and DIVERSITY!!!!!! Also the cover is so pretty and I think it encapsulated the story (from what I've seen) well. The plot was well established and I look forward to checking it out when it comes out!

I totally forgot what this book was even about by the time I started reading it but it completely hooked me from the beginning.
It's told in duel perspectives of a student named Devon who's just your average invisible music playing guy and Chiamaka who is the complete opposite as she's the popular over achiever with a Mean Girls mentality.
When Devon is voted to be one of the top students in his senior class, he's suddenly thrown in the spotlight, which isn't what he wants.
The sampler didn't give too much away of what these two have in common but the ending of it was just mean. I can't wait to read the the rest of this title when it's released in June!
