Although I only received a short sample of this book, I can tell that it was created intentionally to expand the reader's knowledge on all types of stitches. This book is very professionally written and extensive. I think this would be great for both a beginner and advanced crocheter.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is a comprehensive view of textured crochet and is full of great visuals. The author went out of their way to make this easy to understand, and follow. I found it to be very inspiring and can't wait to try some of these stitches.

I liked this book. It has some lovely ideas. Clear pictures and instructions to follow. A good addition for crochet lovers.

Book contains a chart; comprehensive directions; color photo and description of each stitch. There are some cute patterns for cowls, tote, shawl, hat and pillow. The common and a few unique stitches are found in this book. As an avid crocheter, whom loves texture, I can see this book being as one of my favorite go to books.

Since it is only a few pages, it is hard to give a complete review. However, since I know the work of this author (I do not know her personally), I know the book will likely be well written, thorough, and appropriate for all levels of crochet. From what I saw, the pictures are vibrant and the text clear. I love the description of the chapters and think this bodes well for the content.

For the bit I did get to see if the book, it looked amazing and informative. I can’t wait until it’s released so I can really dive in.

This is the first 20 pages of the book. It doesn't even get as far as the first pattern. When I realised that, I contacted the publishers, through net-galley, and the author through her website, but no one responded to me.
Providing a "review copy" that is incomplete makes a mockery of the review process. I can say that the pictures in the first 20 pages are pretty, but that's it.
Unfortunately I have to put a rating to complete this review. I don't think it's appropriate when reviewers mark books down because of format issues, but I don't have enough information to actually assess this book. Once again I ask - what was the point of this process?

Not Given Enough to Review

I wish I could actually review this book. For whatever reason, at a site where readers can download books to review, the publisher decided to only share 9 pages of a book that is well over 100. The 9 pages included front matter like the table of contents and author information. The 9 pages include just a few pages of the introductory material about yarn… no textured crochet patterns or projects. Frankly, a publisher would do better to not submit a book to a book reviewer site at all if this is all they're going to include. To provide such a minuscule sample is a disservice to the reader, the author, and the book. As a crafter and crocheter, I certainly need to see all of a book like this—so I can give a few patterns a test run—to be able to review it properly. Their excuse for only providing nine pages of the book is that it is graphics-heavy and therefore makes for a large-sized PDF. At this particular book review site, I've downloaded books up to nearly 500 MB! The 9-page sample was only 3.6! they certainly could have provided more. Also, several websites out there can shrink PDF file size while retaining most of the quality. I've used them myself, and they can reduce a file by 85% to 92% with little quality loss. I truly would have loved to have seen the complete book because the idea of textured crochet certainly interests me. I wish there was a choice for 0 stars… as there was literally nothing to review in the sample provided.

I’ve seen a sample of this book and it has really whet my appetite to have a look at the whole book!

I love crochet and own many stitch directories and pattern books. I borrow copies from the library and e-library, read crochet blogs, wrote a crochet blog and am generally ‘very keen’.

In Textured Crochet I can see from the sample page that the photographs are good quality, I like the clear easy to read layout of the pages and there is a nice full contents page. This looks like a really appealing guide to a whole variety of crochet stitches.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to look at a small sample of the book. When I have had access to a full copy I will update my review..

A MODERN GUIDE TO TEXTURED CROCHET by Lee Sartori.
Book starts out with samples of finished swatches using different stitch sequences.
Table of contents is enclosed showing patterns but they are not displayed in this preview of the book.
About the author is included along with her photo all about how she wrote this book during the pandemic.
Getting started crocheting gives you information about everything you would need to start: yarns, thicknesses, textures, gauge and blocking, swatching, and tools of the trade.
Disappointed they did not have a sample of one of the patterns but the photographs are too high content for computers to be able to translate in a timely manner.
Amazon page of the book shows pictures of the projects made with the special stitches: totes, hats, and patterns for all four seasons.
Received this review copy from Penguin Random House Interweave via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This was only a small amount of the book but what I read made me want to crochet! The author goes in depth on which needles and type of yarn you would need to do a project. I would like to read more of this book when it comes out.

Thanks for a sample from this book. I am only basing my thoughts on the excerpt from this book. It looks like it will hold quite a bit of content about crochet, including different stiches and seasonal related patterns. The excerpt also talks a bit about helpful tips, including talking about the tools, yarns, and some techniques.

I only received a short sample of this book but it certainly looked from the Contents that it will be comprehensive. The layout and photos that I was able to see was clear. I cannot comment on the clarity of the patterns and stitch explanations though as my review copy did not provide access to these. It seems a shame to deduct stars as I’m sure it’ll be a successful publication. On the basis of what I was given, I will give it 5 stars as the content was great and I was looking forward to reading the whole book.

This book is well organized and includes great color photos that show the detailed textures. The stitches included are fun and provide endless project ideas. This is an inspiring pattern book that will encourage new or seasoned crocheters to try these great texture based patterns.

I received a small excerpt from the book which included 5 pages - cover, table of contents and intro, then 4 pages of "what you need" type information. It is therefore impossible for me to give an accurate or compete review.

Nice photographs and interesting stitches. The version reviewed was limited, so it is difficult to determine if the instructions are easy to understand and accurate, but on the whole, this seems like a nice addition to a crochet library.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book for free in exchange for an honest opinon.

The sample the publisher gave for review was a total of 82 pages and not a single page included a pattern. As this is a crochet book how I review it without looking at a pattern? Without trying a pattern? Without at least seeing all the patterns the author worked so hard to publish? Yes, not a single pattern included for preview and what was included was just a standard author introduction and the basic supplies you'll find in the beginning of every crochet book.

Once more, considering this publisher is a part of Penguin Publishing I cannot believe that thought this was a good move.

Is this is authors fault? No, probably not. When this book is released will I ever picked it up again? No probably not. In my opinon if this was a good book there'll be no issue in sharing it. Especially to NetGalley- the sites entire point is to let readers read and review books before they are released.

0/5 do not reccommend.

I'm so excited about this book. The pictures and textures from the snippet of the book look amazing. I can't wait to see what patterns are included.

I missed the note that this is only a sample of the book due to file size. But the sample that I received was only the names of stitches included in the book and basic directions for crochet beginners. I couldn't get an accurate feel for the book as a whole with such a tiny sample. I've been wanting to learn some of the stitches mentioned so I guess I'll keep my eyes out for it after it publishes and then I can give a more accurate rating.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This sample was extremely small and it is impossible to carry out a proper review. The pages sampled covered only the introduction. This was the usual general information you would expect from a crochet book. No details of the projects were offered. It is the projects that make or break a good crochet book so without seeing them I can't give this book a good rating.
