This appears to be a book that even beginners can use, as it starts off with basic information about yarn types, needles, gauging, etc. Unfortunately, however, that is as far as I was able to get. My review copy only included the first 9 pages of the book. I therefore couldn't read through any of the stitch instructions, didn't see any of the projects, etc. I am therefore giving this book 3 stars as I simply don't have enough to give it a proper review. I'd be happy to update my review if given the rest of the book.

What a great idea I saw this book and am excited to both look and do some of the project with my needle point group. I think it will be a great addition to the branches crochet collection. I like that the picture look clear and all the options.

Because the publisher only made a very small excerpt of the book available to review, I was unable to have any feel for the book. Basically, only the introduction was supplied as an ARC. I got no idea as to the quality or interest of patterns, the instructions or any photos or diagrams, as none were included. Sorry. There was really no point in this. I don't know how to rate this introduction accurately. I'll give it 2 stars, but only because I am interested in the subject.

You are warned that this is only a sample of the book. However, it is impossible to make a judgement from just nine pages (five of which are lead in pages, catalogue/publisher details and index). That leaves Four pages take up with
lee’s back ground and some basic equipment details (useful only to those new to crochet). So I have no idea how these interesting looking stitches are explained. So I cannot make a judgement on whether I would find it easy or difficult to follow.

Pros: Throughout the pandemic, I have been trying different crafts to keep my hands busy and away from doom scrolling. Crocheting has been a great new skill for me, and I've been seeking out books and how-to videos to learn more about the craft. This book includes a fantastic number of new stitches to try. I'm inspired to try a patch-work idea where I can try many different stitches and then put them together into a blanket.
Cons: A note for beginners--it may be difficult to learn these stitches by reading. After reading about a stitch, I recommend finding a video and watching someone do the stitch.
I'm not sure if this was on purpose or a glitch, but the copy I received only had the first six pages. From those pages, I was able to get a good overview of what would be in the book, but of course, that means this review is just of what I read and is reflected in the star rating.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House!
