I am a western genre junkie. I had not heard of George T Arnold so of course, looked him up and found this is his first and only western which made it a challenge for me. But, I took a chance and found a gripping story of a family dynasty set in the early Wild West days of Nevada, specifically a town called Wyandotte. The story built slowly with the author giving us a clear picture of the community and it's residents. He spent time to introduce us to the MCs and show us their place in this drama. While this is not a "hang 'em high" western, it does have enough conflict and confrontations to keep the wild west flavor. Mr Arnold kept the story true to the era, actions, attitudes and opinions are all macho and the women make the best of the few options open to them. Overall, it's a very good book that I'd recommend to my Uncles, the true Western experts!
